1. Cultural Diversity
Project
Objective: To further one’s knowledge of cultures other than that of your
own.
Directions:
1)Find someone with a background or culture that differs from your own
2)Come up with interview questions for the person you chose
3)Interview the subject; LISTEN carefully, LEARN from them!
4)Once you have interviewed your subject, you and your subject must com-
plete one tradition that that person has from their culture.
5)To finish up your project, write a 4-6 page paper with the interview questions
you asked, along with your subject’s answers, your reaction to the interview
and a step-by-step tutorial on the tradition you learned from your new diverse
friend.
According to NCSS Standards, “Culture-Social studies programs should in-
clude experiences that provide for the study of culture and cultural diversi-
ty.” Knowing other culture’s extends your Social Studies knowledge of the
world and the people who surround you.
