Berry the bear is curious about food webs after learning about them in school. He asks his mother Janet about what eats bears since it wasn't covered in class. Janet encourages Berry to explore and learn on his own. Berry goes into the forest and learns that snakes eat mice by talking to one. He then talks to a deer who says it is an herbivore that eats plants. Berry plays with a dog named Sparkle but then the dog's owner Tim, who is a hunter, comes along. Berry realizes hunters are at the top of the food chain and eats other animals. He escapes and tells his mother Janet about his day. Janet explains food chains and webs to Berry using corn
10. Sparkle and Berry start to have great fun playing together, and are have a fantastic time. But then Sparkles Owner, Tim, came looking for Sparkle and found her and Berry. Sparkle!
11. Tim is a hunter. That meant that Berry would be his prey, or an animal being hunted for food! Oh no!
12. Berry realizes that this is what they were talking about in school. The different organisms in his environment eating one another was a food chain. Berry then knew he was in danger and ran quickly away from Tim. I get it!
13. Berry arrives safely to his home to find Janet is back from work. He tells her all about his experience that day and everything that happened. I met lots of new friends & learned lots of new things. But I was almost caught by the hunter.
14. Janet explains to Berry that this had to be the answer to his question. And told him more about how food chains and food webs work. Here is an example!
16. Berry is very excited with all of his new information. He goes and tells all of his friends so that they can all spread the news, and all the critters of the forest are now safer and more understanding. It’s all about the food chains… How cool!
