Measurement has been used since at least 3000 BC and is essential to many areas of life. There are several systems of measurement including imperial, metric, and SI units. The imperial system originated in England and is still used in some countries, while the metric system is now almost universal. Measurement tools are used daily and include rulers, clocks, thermometers and more. Measurement allows materials to be quantified and is integral to many fields as a tool.
