sugar candy rocks
1. Sugar candy rocks: It is common sugar but in a rock. We can use them in our milk, tea, yoghurt
or just lick them as lollipops. But remember sugar is not very healthy so we shouldn’t eat too
much. Just a bit once in a while.
And remember, this is an experiment and it might not come out properly the first time.That’s what
can happen to experiments. But it is a matter of trying.

2. WE NEED:
● A plate with some sugar (plater bat azukre
pixkatekin)
● Toothpicks (zotzak)
● A clean plate (plater garbi bat)
● Some glassess ( edalontzi batzuk)
● Clothes pegs (pintzak)
● Sugar and water: 1 cup of water and three
cups of sugar. (edalontzi bete ur eta 3
edalontzi azukre)
● A saucepan (kazola bat)
3. First, wet the
toothpicks
(busti zotzak)
Then, roll the
toothpick on the
sugar.
Check that the sugar
gets stuck on the
toothpick.
Let the toothpicks
dry on a plate.
Put the water into the
saucepan and turn the
stove on so the water
gets warm.
Add some sugar into
the saucepan and stir it
so it can be dissolved.
Keep stirring and
when all the sugar
is dissolved add
more sugar.
When all the sugar
is dissolved keep it
on the stove until
the water boils.
Add different color
food coloring to the
glasses. in order to
get different color
sugar rocks.
Wait 10 min. until the
water is warm and
then pour the syrup
to the glasses.
Now place the
toothpick grabbed
with the peg into
the glass.
4. Be careful it doesn’t touch the bottom of the glass. Let them stay and we can check how they grow.
Day 2
5. Day 3/4: Carefully break the layer. Take the toothpicks out and let the sugar candy rocks dry.
