The following slides include the animals that are featured in "Monkey Puzzle" by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler (they can be seen in this title slide).
Slide 2: rectangles disappear to reveal all animals in the story.
Slides 3-11: rectangles disappear to reveal individual animals in the story.
Slide 12: small images at the bottom of the screen for run and touch games.
Activity suggestions:
Reveal and say (slides 2-11):
The children simply call out the name of the animal(s) as the slides disappear.
Listen and splat (slide 12) :
Play a follow-up game of splat. The children take turns at identifying and hitting the images you say. You could either call out the animal or the number associated with the animal. You could give them plastic fly swatters, throw a soft ball, or even put the class mascot or puppet in charge. Can they throw the mascot to hit the correct image! (Poor mascot though!)
Memory challenge:
Continue with the idea of hiding the images. Tell the children to close their eyes. Use your hand, a puppet or any other obscuring object to cover one of the images. Can they remember what it is? Once they get the hang of it, let the kids take turns at playing teacher.
Click or press return to make the coloured rectangles disappear. The children should call out the names of the animals as they see them.
Use this in presentation mode. Every time you click or press return the rectangles will disappear one by one.
The children should try to call out the names of the animals as they see them.
Use this slide to play a game of Board Slam, Yes / No chairs or Jump the line.
