Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF)
bestows Goa Tourism with yet
another award, this time in Pune for
the 'Best Decorative Stall'. The fair
was held from 12th to 14th September
2014. The award was received by
Mr. Bernardo Araujo (Senior
Manager, Design, GTDC), Mr.
Armando Duarte (Senior Manager,
Reservation & Sales, GTDC), Ms.
Fernanda Vales (Assistant Tourist
Officer, Department of Tourism) and
Ms. Carmalina D'Costa (Information
Assistant, Department of Tourism)
which was presented by Mr. Rajiv
Agarwal (Joint MD, TTF)

Decorated Stand National' at
IITM once again, this time in
Mumbai
Goa Tourism has been awarded the
“Best Decorated Stand National”
once again at the India International
Travel Mart (IITM), held in Mumbai,
from September 12- 14, 2014. The
award was received by Mr. Deepak
N a r v e k a r ( P R O , G T D C ) ,
Praveenkumar Faldesai (Marketing
Manager, SPV, GTDC), Lodovina
Rodrigues and Rubina Shaikh
(Department of Tourism). The award
was presented by Rohit Hangal
(Director, Sphere Media).

award, 'Best Decorated Stand
National' at IITM, Gurgaon
Goa Tourism has yet again won an
award. This time Goa Tourism
bagged the award for the “Best
Decorated Stand National” at the
India International Travel Mart
(IITM), held in Gurgaon from
September 5-7, 2014. The award
was received by Ms. Pamela
Mascarenhas (Deputy Director of
Tourism) and Mr. Armando Duarte
(Senior Manager of Reservation &
Sales, GTDC) in the presence of Mr.
Upjeet Sahota (GM, Ramada
Gurgaon Central).

With record profits, GTDC gears up for bigger things
Goa's Department of Tourism gets a new Director
Goa Tourism organizes World Tourism Day Celebrations
Goa with its scenic beauty and
splendor beaches gets a facelift to
its beaches across the State. Goa
Tourism has taken up the task of
cleaning the beaches through
manual means to have clean and
hygienic beaches which will help
improve tourism potential in the
State. The contract began taking
shape early in September and on
15t h September 2014 Goa's
Honorable Chief Minister; Shri
Manohar Parrikar launched Goa
Tourism's 'Clean Goa Beautiful Goa'
campaign on Miramar Beach,
Panjim, Goa in the presence of
Honorable Minister of Tourism, Shri
Dilip Parulekar; Principal Secretary,
Tourism, Government of Goa, R. K
Srivastava IAS; Chairman, GTDC,
Nilesh Cabral and Director,
Department of Tourism, Shri Ameya
Abhyankar IAS.
M/s Bhumika Transport, Waste
Handling Services, a Mumbai led
consortium was awarded the
contract work for North Goa
beaches which includes Miramar,
Keri, Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim,
Vagator, Ozrant, Anjuna, Baga,
Calangute, Candolim, Sinquerim,
Nerul, Caranzalem, Siridao,
Bambolim for an amount of Rs.
7,51,40,999 for the first year. M/s
Ram Engineering and Construction
Company, a Mumbai led consortium
is managing the South Goa stretch
which includes Majorda, Baina,
Bogmolo,Velsao, Arrosim, Utorda,
Majorda, Betalbatim, Colva,
Sernabatim, Benaulim, Zalor,
Fat rade,Varca, Cavelossim,
Agonda, Palolem, Patnem, Rajbag,
Talpona, Galgibag for an amount of
Rs. 7,0487,999 for the first year. The
contract is primarily awarded for a
period of 15 months and the same
has a term period of 5 years subject
to the fulfillment of all obligations and
methodology under the tender by
the contractors.
The agencies are responsible for the
p l a c e m e n t o f n e c e s s a r y
infrastructure such as dust bins,
segregation units, compositing pits
and scientific disposal of garbage.
Dustbins will be placed at every 100
meters interval; garbage will be
collected from all beaches where it
will be segregated into different parts
such as bio degradable and non bio-d
e g r a d a b l e . Th e n o n b i o -
degradable waste will further be
segregated into components such
as plastic, glass, metal, etc. and will
be staked to a central place for
further disposal and the bio
degradable waste will be converted
into compost using compost pits.
The contract includes staff
employed to be upright, efficient,
smartly dressed in proper uniforms
to match with the best standards
available to give a clean and
hygienic look and appearance to
tourists and people at large.

Corporation has recorded a healthy
financial growth for the financial year
2013-14. GTDC achieved an all time
high turnover of Rs. 26.88 crores,
thereby showing an increase of 12%
over the previous year. Due to its
p r o a c t i v e a n d p r o f e s s i o n a l
management of assets, GTDC has
turned around the situation this year
by reporting a net profit of Rs. 53.92
lakhs for the year 2013-14.
The increase in revenue is due to
increased accommodation and
utilization of GTDC properties such
as Vagator, Anjuna, Baga which
have been put to use within the
purview of non-development zone
and the increase in revenue from
cruise operations through its single
window system. GTDC owned-properties
at Palolem, Benaulim
which also falls under non-development
zone are in the
process of development and are
expected to generate revenue for
the corporation.
Buoyed by this jump in profits,
GTDC is geared up to initiate and
launch a host of products and
services which will enhance tourist
experience and comfort in Goa. Two
of the foremost things that GTDC
has proposed to do is the
development of Mayem lake in
Bicholim and accommodation
facilities for boosting hinterland
tourism in Goa.
Mr. Ameya Abhyankar IAS has
taken over as the new Director of
the Department of Tourism. Mr.
Abhyankar will oversee the
d e p a r tme n t ' s r o l e i n t h e
maintenance of the State's beach
cleanliness, beach safety, tourist
policing and master plan. Mr.
Abhyankar will also have additional
charges of Special Secretary,
Finance (Budget) and Director PPP
Cell (Public Private Partnership).
Mr. Ameya Abhyankar belongs to
the AGMU cadre 2007 batch of the
Indian Administrative Service and
has held various Government posts
since. Until recently, Mr. Ameya
Abhyankar was the District
Magistrate (New Delhi and West
Delhi) and Special Inspector
General of Registration (Delhi).
Prior to these posts, Ameya
Abhyankar was the District
Commissioner and Dist r ict
Magistrate of Upper Subansiri
(Arunachal Pradesh)
Mr. Nikhil Desai will continue to
serve as Managing Director, GTDC
and will oversee the development
and maintenance of infrastructure,
marketing, branding, promotions
and festivals.

illuminates Sai Baba
Temple at Boca-da-Vaca,
Panjim
In an effort to highlight the beauty
and grandeur of Sai Baba temple at
Boca-da-Vaca, Panjim, Goa
Tourism had undertaken the task of
re-illuminating the temple which was
recently completed.
The Sai Baba temple is one of the
most important tourist spots located
in the heart of Panjim. The re-illumination
of this temple will help in
increasing the tourism value of the
temple, with lots of tourists enjoying
the spectacle.
The illumination offers the best
view of the temple at night giving it a
majestic look. Keeping this in mind,
Goa Tourism is also in the process
of illuminating the surrounding
areas which includes a spring
tunnel which will be tendered soon.
Goa Tourism will also undertake
several such illumination projects
for various temples and churches
across Goa.

Day themed around Tourism and
Community Development in various
places across the State from 27 to
29 September, 2014. These events
highlighted the involvement of
various communities through the
activities as communities play an
important role as stakeholders in
tourism and hence community
development is essential for tourism
to be sustainable

The illuminated temple
