Life On Other Planets
1. Extraterrestrial Life
Kyle G
Outer Planetary Life Forms
Earth had been the main source of life in the solar system and in the universe for a long period
of time now. Many people think of it to be the only source of life; however, some people think not.
What would happen if there was life on other planets and across the galaxy? There would be an almost
never ending list of things that we could do. As well as this, that would mean that there would be even
more life out there in the universe. So many things are yet be discovered and with the progress that the
world is making today, we may be able to reach the goals we set. Soaring out into the universe is only a
dream currently, but with the people and the technology we have today and in the future, it can
become reality.
Throughout the universe there have been some discoveries this could make this dream much
easier to obtain. The main thing is which planets have the capability to sustain life and have things such
as liquid water, plants and other inhabitants such as animals. If this were to be the case and we were
capable to get to those planets, we would be extremely close to figuring out the universe. Some planets
that scientists have claimed that might be able to sustain life are Venus and Mars. Although they cannot
sustain us, they might still hold life. Another thing that may be able to sustain life is the moons of Saturn
and Jupiter, again, we most likely could not live on them. There is however two planets that we think
may have the ability to keep the human race alive. Gliese 581 c and d have about the same mass as
Earth and have a habitable range from the star in that solar system. These planets also have the
potential to have liquid water. Though Gliese 581 c is in more doubt about having the ability to sustain
life because of the atmosphere, Glises 581 d had more of a chance due to the Earth-like atmosphere and
temperatures. One of the only bad things about it is that it is more than 20 light years away. This says
one thing, in order to reach life, we need to be able to go at light speed, either that or its time for us to
figure out how to teleport; either way, we need to get more advanced. Although, there may be some
other ways to research theories about this.
2. Extraterrestrial Life
Many things can help us discover alien life and more evidence of different planets. One of these
things is meteorites. Meteors can travel across a galaxy before it comes to earth. In fact, some meteors
are from another meteor crashing into a mass, say a moon or a planet, and a piece of that mass breaking
off. If that meteor were to hit Earth, we could easily study it. There may be life forms directly on the
meteor that are from other planets, or there may be something inside of it that. When people crack
open a meteorite, they could find something no one has ever seen before. Since this is the case, there
are probably millions of things that could be discovered. Another way that scientists have been figuring
out things about other planets are telescopes and satellites, not to mention probes. Nearby planets are
one of the things about the universe that we can study quite well with probes and satellites. Planets that
are almost 20 light years away like Gliese 581 c and d are harder to find things about them. Telescopes
today are now able to identify these planets and we are able to study them exceptionally well. Though
we cannot find out everything, the basics and the big things such as the climate and atmosphere types
are some of the things we can though. When we have gotten better equipment and a better
understanding of space is when we can take a better look at what is really out there.
Everything in the solar system and even in the universe is not too far away and we cannot wait
to get to them. Some things on this list will always be out of reach; but one thing is for certain, not
everything will be. Traveling across the universe in order to find out what is needed to know is
something only we can dream about right now, but getting up and trying is another thing. We can keep
studying things from Earth and maybe even the planets around it, but once we get outside of our solar
system is when the real task begins. There may be nothing out there in the universe, but if there is, we’ll
find it.
