What Motivates Me To College
What motivates me to start college where my kids and myself, I always wanted to go to college and I did try before, but because of one reason or
another I had to stop. It was always in my mind to return to school. I always felt that I was meant to finish college and prove to myself that I could
do anything that I set my mine too, and also because I want my kids to see that if you work hard and set your mind on what you want you could do
anything. Now days for a person to get promoted in the work place you have to have a college degree and I want to be that person that gets the

Training Managers to Motivate Employees
Abstract There are a variety of management styles in the field of training and development. With there being so many styles, can training help
managers adopt a more autonomy–supportive motivating style toward employees. Will the employees of these managers in turn show a greater
workplace engagement? Research shows managers that participate in training, have a more significantly supportive management style. This paper will
discuss the managers' motivating styles and the benefits to employees when managers become more autonomy supportive.
One of the most challenging parts of a manager's job is the managerial effort to support employees' motivation. A key determinant of how effectively a

Autonomous motivation is self–authored and personally endorsed as one's own (Ryan &Deci, 2000). There are two types of autonomous motivation
that are associated with employees' functioning, intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. Intrinsic motivation involves employees engaging in an
activity because they find it interesting and satisfying. They usually express this with comments like, "I enjoy what I do." The other type of
autonomous motivation is identified regulation. This involves identifying with the activity performed and the time spent seems important and worth
the effort. Most employees express identified regulation through comments as, "The work I do is important to me." Controlled motivation is that which
is pressure–based and imposed by forces (i.e. people, rewards, deadlines) outside the person (Ryan & Deci, 2000). A type of controlled motivation is
external regulation. This involves employees doing an activity because they expect to gain an external contingency to do so. The motivation is
externally controlled because the employees are energized into to working by incentives and to avoid consequences. If the incentives are not present
and the consequences are absent, the employees are not motivated to do action. These people can be often heard expressing themselves such as, "I work
because the boss is watching." Many managers agree that motivation is important and that the quality of employees' motivation is important,

What Motivates Society
Many things motivate the main character Equality. Thinking of this, some may wonder what is his primary motivation. His primary motivation is
to prove everyone and everything he has ever known to be wrong. He was always told to be exactly the same as everyone else, but he wanted to be
different. Equality knew his invention could benefit mankind and that's why defied all odds and proves everyone wrong. This motivates him because
he's always been told he wasn't able to be smarter or stronger but to be equal to all of his brothers. He was always told he couldn't be anything more
than an average human being, in his period of time. This is exactly what motivates him, he was told he could have no affection to another person, no
enhancements from the average person. But he knew the invention he made could help his people, but nobody cared or didn't know because he
wanted to show everyone a street cleaner could have a purpose too. Though the council rigged the system and made Equality a street sweeper because
they were afraid of his enchantment over the people in the society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

anyone can do anything they want even if their a street cleaner. In this book, Anthem, Equality makes a friend and tells him about what he had been

Examples Of What Motivates Terrorists
What Motivates Terrorists?
Abstract
This paper will seek to understand what really motivates terrorists to commit the acts that make them so infamous. We are assuming that the chief
motivating factor behind the decisions of terrorist organizations is the political outcome of their acts balanced against the risk and collateral damage
inflicted to achieve this end. We will also weigh in the appeal ofterrorism on potential recruits in weak states and determine how the motivations of the
group become the motivation of the individual and how this benefits the decentralized organization of terrorist organizations like al Qaeda.

We assume the political options have been weighed and other political avenues are blocked leaving terrorists the only option left of resorting to the
bombing of innocents. This marks the logic of terrorist groups as one of consequence. They have been made to resort to the decision to harm
innocents. Al Qaeda loves to play the "you brought this upon yourselves" card to justify their actions.
The basic human rights are obviously violated by terrorist groups. The right to live free and without fear is taken from the innocent when a bomb
explodes in their midst. This kind of collateral damage is justifiable by terrorists. The innocent become objects rather than human beings. The terrorist
to meet their political agendas uses these objects. "In being treated as an object, the innocent victim is worse off than the (alleged) guilty victim.
Insofar as the latter is judged to have done a wrong, he is thought of as a human" (Fotion, 1981).
These groups advocate that the loss of human rights for some will result in the respect of human rights for all. Essentially and end to war and a world
ran by sharia. Even if their claims of unavoidable collateral damage were justifiable, that is not enough to make terrorism itself justified.
The argument exists that terrorists actually do not achieve their political goals by attacking

What Motivates Employees At The Workplace?
What Motivates Employees In the Workplace?
Keep Your Employees Motivated
Understanding the 5 Components of Motivation
Many employers know that motivation is a key element of being a good leader. Yet, somehow they still seem to miss the mark when it comes to
actively motivating their employees. Employee motivation ought to be a priority on any employer's list and we are here to help guide you, as a leader,
in improving your motivation game.
It's a proven fact that a workforce that is motivated, engaged and responsive is considerably more productive than an unmotivated, apathetic group of
employees. Businesses with motivated employees also benefit from people who work harder and generate higher–quality results. These businesses see
lower turnover rates and, in turn, save the time and money it would take to recruit and train replacements.
Now before going any further, let's stop and review what exactly motivation is.
The Webster dictionary defines motivation as "something inside people that drives them to action." This being the case, what motivates one person
may be different from the next.
Motivation comes from within. It emerges from theories, out of needs, values, goals, intentions and expectations. Leaders don't need to create
motivation. Instead, they need to cultivate and direct the motivation that is already in each employee.
By understanding what motivates individual employees, employers and managers will be able to better grasp why people perform the way they do

What Motivates Me For College
What motivates me to go to college,to put hard work in,day after day, and to achieve my goals in higher education is my parents and myself. Since I
started elementary school my parents have always motivated me to go to college. I was always a good student, but, when I had entered seventh
grade, it all changed. I really did not care about school, i have been just whatever about school period. Then it hit me again in my junior year of high
school. Freshman and sophomore I was not really interested in school and didn 't think I was going to college. My parents had a talk with me and that
talk changed me. They were just asking me what am I going to do with my life if I didn 't go on with school and all this other stuff that made me
think really hard. I didn 't want to make my parents think that their son was a failure, they raised a failure. I changed my ways and started doing
better in school and now I am currently attending Cal State University of Los Angeles. Now they are more proud than ever, me being the first one
in my family to attend a university. My parents will always be my biggest motivators. One reason why my parents will always be my biggest
motivators is because they know what 's right from wrong and they know life. They tell me and always pushed me to do my best no matter what.
They told me I 'm going to have a lot of distraction and a lot of things I do not want to go through but, its going to happen, thats just life. In the

Definition Essay: What Motivates Me
What motivates you? This could be one of the most important questions you could ever ask yourself. It's funny, but you know, until recently, I don't
think I ever considered this question myself. But some interesting conversations happened when I did ask myself this question. What DOES motivate
me? I never really thought about it, so when I did, it made me do some deep self–analysis. Motivation may be the most misunderstood subject known
to man. My guess is that most of us don't really know what motivates us. And if we don't even think consciously about what we are motivated by,
thinking about what motivates others is probably going to be the furthest thing from our minds. And both of these oversights can stifle our career
ascent. Motivation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That's probably why most people have a hard time climbing out of the socio–economic class that they were born into. If your father wasn't motivated
by having a big house, a new car, a yacht, and a second home in the country, odds are you probably won't be motivated by those things either. And even
if you are, your drive and ambition are probably inherited traits also, so achieving those things won't come easy. Therefore, when you fail to achieve
them, your instinct kicks in and tells you that it's OK. If your father didn't need those things, then you don't need those things either. And maybe you
don't. After all, everybody knows that happiness is much more important than money and of course, money can't buy you happiness. But that's not my
point. What's important is to understand that we are all motivated by different things. And the more that we understand about what drives us, the easier
it will be for us to fill our own tanks in order to help us to achieve the things that we really do want. And what's even more important is that once we
understand what motivates us, we begin to get a better understanding about what motivates others. Motivating others is how you really get things done.
That's how leaders are born. Article Source:

How Leaders Motivate Employees And Organizations
I.What is the title of your Focus Area?
Organizational Leadership=====================
II.What issue(s) or specific problem(s) do you want to address in your Advanced Project, and why is that of interest to you?
=====================
I'd like to address the problem of how leaders motivate employees in organizations. This is a general topic which can have a wide range of applicability
(and that's part of its appeal to me). But the problem of employee motivation, and how leaders can stimulate and/or make use of that motivation, is
critical to the success of any organization. A leader can have the perfect plan of action and yet fall short of meeting their objective simply because they
did not know how to generate momentum among their subordinates in an organization. If I am to find myself in a leadership position–this is a problem
I'd like to avoid!
=====================
III.What are your expected learning outcomes? =====================
Please articulate at least three different learning outcomes by describing
how the Advanced Project will increase your background knowledge: =====================
The advanced project will give m a solid base of knowledge about how members of an organization are motivated to complete its various projects
(critical projects and otherwise). This knowledge base will make me more equipped to spot problems in my own style of leadership, as well as in the
organization I try to lead. And spotting such problems is, of course, a

Too many people rely only on coffee. While this perks you up, without a solid meal in your stomach, you are setting yourself up for a let down
later on. Make sure you eat something with some protein in it, as this has been proven to fire up your metabolism. Doing a little bit of exercise in
the morning is a great way to get the positive endorphins pumping through your brain. This can give you a positive outlook. Many people report
that during the morning exercise routine, they come up with some creative ideas to use during the day. Keeping hydrated is essential, especially in
the morning. When you sleep, you lose a lot of water. So drinking a full glass of cool water in the morning will help you get on the right track. If
you can remember your dreams, this can go along way in keeping you motivated. Dreams often give us insight into our worries, and many times
you'll find a solution to your problems in your dreams. Keeping a dream journal next to your bed is an excellent way to train yourself to remember

Managing And Motivate Multi Generational Organizations
For the first time ever, five generations are working together under one roof creating today's multi–generational workforce. Our current workforce is
comprised of Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z, whom are all working side by side despite major age and
hierarchal differences. Diversity is extremely valuable in an organization, however; management must know how to properly motivate each age group
in order to reap the benefits of today's workforce. It is of upmost importance for organizations to effectively handle the cultural, lifestyle, and
communication differences between the span of five generations which can pose a challenge to management. These five generations all have different
beliefs, goals, attitudes, and priorities which need to be taken into consideration to avoid misunderstanding amongst co–workers. Consequently, having
such a variety in ideas and visions from people ranging in ages from ages 16–68 can strengthen an organization in many ways. In this paper I will
provide research from several sources to compose ideas on how to effectively manage and motivate multi–generational organizations. I will study each
generation to establish their strengths, weaknesses, work habits, communication styles and values to determine the best way to overcome challenges
and obstacles. A properly managed collaboration of these generations will give an organization tremendous opportunity and growth.

honestly don't want to form personal relationships with the people I work with because I feel like that could cause some drama. Achievement is
definitely something I strive for, so I was not surprised when that was the one I scored the highest on. I am always striving to do my best at work. I

What Motivates Employees Essay
How do you get things done in an organization? First, you must have managers who can delegate to employees. Effective managers have the ability to
get things done through other people. This is accomplished by motivating employees to accomplish tasks. A manager must be able to delegate these
tasks to employees. The technique a manager uses to motivate employees to work for him, will either motivate or dissatisfy employees. Motivated
employees will work with the manager to achieve company goals. Those employees who are dissatisfied will work against company goals.
It wasn't that long ago that employees were considered "just another input into the production of goods and services."(Linder 1998) Elton Mayo had a

This style is involved with the "charisma, ability to inspire motivation,..., and ability to relate to others." (Davidhizar 1997, 17) The encouragement the
manager offers must be genuine or else it is perceived as a form of manipulation. Some employees see non–genuine encouragement as management
being fake and trying to get one over on them. This will make the managers job much more difficult. Encouragement doesn't cost the company anything
and it's in all managers best interest to practice it freely and regularly.
Transformational leadership is about "empowerment, cooperation and shared responsibilities." (Davidhizar 1997, 20) So managers must be
comfortable with all forms of encouragement. Also, when positive actions are encouraged those actions are more likely to be repeated. Many managers
only punish negative behavior never reinforcing positive behavior. When employees are constantly punished they learn not to vary from what is safe.
Managers that reprimand are usually the type of managers that leave very little of an employees job to the imagination. This type of management style
leads to employees being unmotivated, because the job doesn't let them use their abilities. Many managers believe that punishment will stop
undesirable behavior, punishment doesn't necessarily assure the behavior will not happen again. It will most likely lead to employees "only exhibiting
behavior that attracts praise and reward and

Transformational Leadership Theory Motivates Individuals
Transformational Leadership Theory Motivates Individuals
The definition of transformational leadership is the style of leadership in which the leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the
change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group(business dictionary.com). Northouse (as cited
in Hall, Johnson, Wysocki, & Kepner, 2002) stated in simplistic terms, transformationalleadership is a process that changes, motivates, and transforms
individuals. In essence this form of leadership transforms the employee's values and behaviors, thereby increasing production. In the case of JLB

Inspirational motivation is the degree to which a leader articulates a vision that is appealing and inspiring to followers (Riggio, 2009). The leadership
of JLB enterprises could reexamine and revise its mission statement and introduce a more positive set of future goals at a company–wide meeting.
Additionally, JLB Enterprises could create and introduce a production based incentive program. Some possible elements of this program might include
wage bonuses and additional paid days off.
Individualized influence is the degree to which the leader acts as a role model for their followers (Riggio, 2009). In an effort to raise performance
expectations JLB Enterprise's executive management could institute both a manager of the month and an employee of the month program. If the
manager of the month program included one–on–one mentorship time with a senior manager then it is more likely that the junior manager would
emulate their mentors values and behaviors. Likewise the junior manager could mentor each of his employees so that values and behaviors might be
more consistent throughout the company.
Conclusion
In conclusion, by utilizing all four elements of the transformational leadership theory employee morale and production would likely increase at JLB
Enterprises. Using one or two elements of the theory will not be as effective as applying all four elements. Furthermore, transformational

How to Motivate Fred Maiorino
Fred Maiorino had been a successful sales manager for Schering–Plough Corporation for thirty–one years before Jim Reed was named general sales

including a new performance appraisal system and a hands–on coaching style to motivate his sales staff. The problem arose with Reed's inability to
motivate Fred (Buller & Schuler, 2003).
In this case study, we will compare and contrast both the ineffectiveness of Jim Reed's methods, as well as more favorable methods he could have used
to influence a more positive outcome.
The major issue is this case is Reed's inability to motivate Fred, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the people with whom Fred worked in the medical community felt he was a pleasure to work with and he always used to be ready to help

Deep Knowledge of the Subject: Fred often provided necessary drug samples and information regarding side effects of those drugs based on his prior
experience and knowledge. And several times his knowledge helped them a lot. His doctors and nurses were highly influenced by his knowledge.
So from the above discussion it can be concluded that overall Fred had the ability to perform successfully as a sales representative because he had a
good combination of knowledge and skills. In fact, in early 1987 he was recognized as the top sales representative in Schering – Plough and received

How to Motivate Fred Maiorino

lack of an effective employee performance review.
Leadership
Jim Reed fails to motivate Fred because of the unsuccessful role as leader. A successful leader has the ability to manage and supervise the

Jim Reeds method could be described as unintended outcome.(Van De Mieroop, Vrolix 2014) that is obtained from unacceptable performance
ratings. Performance evaluations should be comprised of principles that determine the level of performance and a valuation to determine the
achievements of the employee. An effective performance evaluation will clearly state employee's expectations and standards. A performance
evaluation review should not be based on historical factors. The purpose of performance reviews should focus on the future. (Van DE Mieroop,
Vrolix 2014) The most effective way to increase performance is by direct feedback (Ahmed, Sultan, Paul, Azeen 2013). The key motives for lack
of performance can be accredited to lack of managerial success due to the lack of manager's direction and feedback to employees. .(Yadav, Sushil,
Sagar 2014) Leaders need to make employees aware of their responsibilities, obligations to the company and their expectation and then offer
continuous feedback. Employees need to be made aware of the progress of their performance levels. (Yadav, Sushil, Sagar 2014) Many studies have
revealed that most performance appraisals do not meet the company's expectations because it emphasis the weaknesses of the employees. This has a

Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others
For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important factor in the long–term success of an organisation.
Empowerment refers to the employee's feeling of being effective, in control and influential.
Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better performance.
Maslow's hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to
provide the framework for further motivation and empowerment.

Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace.
Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make decisions. However, the person who delegated
the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work.
Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on the other hand, might cause frustration and
confusion to all the involved parties.
Tannenbaum & Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager–oriented to subordinate–oriented. As the team
develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate increases and the need for the manager's intervention decreases.
Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives:
One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time with her trying to establish the root cause of this.

Effective leaders motivate and inspire followers to achieve collective goals. Within an organisational context, the changing nature of the workplace and
the employment relationship has seen a shifting focus to the importance of establishing trust between leaders and followers, emphasising employee
wellbeing and team orientated decision–making. However leaders who exhibit toxic traits have lasting effects, not only upon their followers, but also
the organisation. From a psychological perspective, this essay aims to analyse the characteristics of a toxic leader, by investigating the 'dark side' of
leadership, exploring the consequences of narcissism and Machiavellianism within organisational leadership as well as on an individual level.
Machiavellianism has been consistently associated with toxic leadership throughout literature (Drory & Gluskinos. 1980; Becker & O 'Hair. 2007;
Deluga, 2001). Machiavellianism is an extreme inclination to acquire and maintain power within a socially competitive situation (Judge, Piccolo, &
Kosalka, 2009). Machiavellianism leaders display a lack of affect in interpersonal relationships and limited concern with morality displayed through
manipulative, deceitful and exploitive behaviour in the interests of personal goals (Becker & O 'Hair, 2007). Niccolo Machiavellistated that a leader

How To Motivate Offenders To Change
Abstract
Once an inmate is released from prison and given parole or probation it is difficult for them to live a normal life like any other ordinary person
would integrate day to day in our society. The offenders will have many obstacles due to their criminal background in finding a job or even taken
serious by others in general. In a way, the parolee or probationer are fearful to how society might approach them once let out of prison and even more
frighten if the parolee or probationer served an indeterminate sentence (10–20 years) in prison and not know how to become a part of society becomes
their worst nightmare due to the past thoughts of old habits that got them (parolee or probationer) in trouble with the system. Now put in mind ... Show

How to motivate offenders to change
(Clarissa Trejo)
Introduction
To motivate offenders to change sounds difficult, but is not impossible for those who accept to receive help such as rehab, prevention programs that
are effective for those whom have a drug or alcohol problem and even one to one cognitive behavioral therapy that reduces recidivism in both
youngsters and adults.
History
The word, parole, derives from the French "parole" meaning "word of honor" and references prisoners of war promising not to take up arms in current
conflict if released. Probation has antecedents that reach back to biblical times, its American history dates to the nineteenth century. The concept of
probation from the Latin probation, meaning period of proving. Evolved out of the practice of judicial reprieve, used in English courts to serve as a
temporary suspension of sentence to allow a defendant to appeal to the crown for a pardon.
Issues of Probation and Parole
The 21st century is several years away and planning is needed to effectively manage excessive caseloads to protect the public. This paper reviews a
fresh means of supervision methodology and the joining of the prevailing technology and the imminent technology of the 21st century. For quite some
time there has been a public, political

The Secret To Motivate An Unmotivated Dog
If a dog has just been adopted, they can feel scared. They don't know where they are are what their surroundings consist of. So, getting the dog to
cooperate a little bit should be the first thing you do. Try to figure out ways to get them excited and playful. " Explore activities that encourage strong
bonds and build trust." (Marie, Rachel: The Secret To Motivating An UnmotivatedDog) " Spend time discovering new place and new experiences
with your dog." ( Marie, Rachel: The Secret To Motivating An Unmotivated Dog). Even giving the dog your approval of something can motivate them.
Because it lets them know that they are able to do what they would like to without getting in trouble first. Giving a dog food isn't always the answer. ...

The dog would be fearful that they would get yelled at, grabbed, shaken, or even smacked. Times since then have definitely changed and now, we
use toys, treats, etc. Before, we "motivated our dogs to avoid being bad." ( Pippa:How To Motivate Your Dog) We now use motivators that the
dogs want, rather than what they are afraid of. Respect (although sounds like it would be a good motivator) is really only a show of fear from dog to
owner. The dog is afraid that they will get yelled at for correction or there will be some kind of disapproval. Respect from the dog is a powerful tool,
it's just not a very useful/sufficient tool.
However, some of the most powerful working motivators include food–no surprise there– but that is what dogs love most. Long ago, dogs used to have
to hunt in order to get their food. Since they have evolved from wolves, that behavior is still in them, so really a dog will do anything to get the food
you offer them. Controlling the motivation tool, though, is useful for the owner when trying to train the dog. It helps with behavior and it gives you a
clue on what they'll act like when they're older. Since a treat is the ultimate motivator, it keeps the dog in check. So

Motivate A Team Case Study
How to Motivate Your Team During the Least Productive Time of the Year According to recent yet unsurprising reports, it is the cold, dark and dreary
winter months, particularly in the first quarter, that tend to be the least productive period for employees. Here's how to boost employee motivation
and productivity during the seasonal dip in team morale. January can be a difficult month for employees returning to work, with the excessive
spending and overindulgence of the holidays coupled with the general dreariness of the season to blame for the 'winter blues.' What's more, Britain
has been suffering from low productivity since the financial crisis of 2008, leaving a productivity gap 16% with the other six members of the G7, which

SAD is generally triggered by the reduced number of daylight hours during winter, although cold temperatures and weak daylight also play a part in
overall feelings of malaise. During this time, people can experience a feeling of general unhappiness, fatigue, anxiety or depression as the days get
shorter and colder, which can also be accompanied by increased eating, trouble sleeping as well as feelings of confusion, forgetfulness and lack of
concentration. While this condition is quite common in the UK and countries with varying seasons, employers should not overlook it as it can have a
serious effect on staff productivity, motivation, morale and even their physical and mental wellbeing. While employers cannot change the weather, you
should look at your office environment and how to make it more pleasant for staff. Feeling too cold is one of the most–cited complaints among
employees and contributes towards the seasonal productivity drops in the office. Research suggest that keeping the office temperature at 21 degrees
Celsius is ideal for optimal results. Adding additional lighting and colours can also do wonders in boosting the mood of your staff, while providing
healthy snack alternatives to cakes and cookies at meetings and in the office can reduce the calories associated with comfort eating. Employees are

Who Motivates Odysseus Analysis
Who motivates Odysseus?
Motivation is defined as having a strong reason to act or accomplish something. This reason to act could be a variety of things. The motivation one
receives can also come in many forms. For some, the act for themselves; others act for someone else. Still others receive their motivation from another
who has complete faith in them to accomplish their task. In the epic poem The Odyssey, by the Greek poet Homer, the main character, Odysseus, is
motivated to return home by the courage he receives from the goddess, Athena.
The first instance the reader encounters the wise goddess, Athena, helping Odysseus, she is advocating to the gods for his return home. Athena pleads
to Zeus, in hopes that Odysseus will be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poseidon is the only god who does not like Odysseus, because he harmed his son. Athena did not let Poseidon's wrath overcome Odysseus. Instead,
she calms the winds and takes Odysseus to safety on the island of Phaeacia. Without her help, Odysseus would have never safely landed on the shores
Phaeacia.
The goddess of wisdom disguises Odysseus, in order that he might pass through the city of Phaeacia, safely unseen. "Pallas Athena, harboring kindness
for the hero, drafted a heavy mist around him, shielding him from any swaggering islander who crossed his path, provoked him with taunts and search
out who he was" (7.16–19). The Phaeacians are known for being very prideful in themselves and believing that they were better than most. This cloud
of mist Athena gives Odysseus keeps him from being noticed and questioned by the townspeople.
Athena also disguises Odysseus into a beggar when he finally reached Ithaca's shores, so that none know that he has made the journey home until the
time is right.
"First I will transform you– no one must know you. I will shrivel the supple skin on your lithe limbs, strip the russet curls from your head and deck

Personal Narrative: What Motivates Me
Giving up or giving in are two ideas that are difficult for me to comprehend. Growing up, I didn't have a father and my mother had to work all day
to provide for me. While my mom tried with all her might to be there for me, it was simply impossible for her to be everywhere at the same time. By
having to raise and teach myself, at times, I slowly learned to become independent. I also saw how hard my mom worked which motivated, and still
motivates me, to become a better person each day.
This motivation never faltered, only growing stronger with time. While high school, the independence I learned shaped me into the person I am;
helping me make my own decisions. By making my own choices I was able to become stronger not just mentally, but also

I think what motivates Kennedy`s point of view is that he knows the competition is winning but he is sure they will win the race because they
now have better scientists and engineers and on paragraph 11 he says "hey were far more sophisticated and supplied far more knowledge to the
people of the world than those of the Soviet Union." And he talks about how they now have more money on paragraph 16 he says "All this costs us
all a good deal of money. This year's space budget is three times what it was in January 1961. Greater than the space budget of the previous eight
years combined." Some strategies Kennedy used are to let the people know he means what he says and he always talked about bringing good to the

How to Motivate Staff
Donna wants to motivate her staff to achieve high sales resorts. What awards can be given along with the trophies to motivate the staff? Give some
specific examples and how they would tie in with the evening, be motivational for all retail managers and store staff.
Given that sales people love to 'show off,' turning the evening into a game show would be one way to add additional 'spice' to the event and also allow
sales staff to earn more prizes. Instead of merely an awards dinner, a portion of the evening could be devoted to a 'trivia challenge,' in which different
groups of sales staff would compete as teams for cash prizes and recognition. Staging the event would have several useful functions for the company.
First and foremost, it would foster a greater sense of team spirit amongst the sales staff. Second of all, it would revitalize a competitive edge amongst
the team members. The prizes would not have to be substantial, but they would have to be meaningful, and the winning team members would be
celebrated at the end of the evening.
The game show MC would be a funny 'personality' selected to ask questions and to engage in banter between him or herself and the audience. This
would be more interactive and interesting than merely having a motivational speaker talk about the value of selling more. The subjects of the trivia
game could revolve around general interest subjects, to encourage friendly discussion amongst the team members, or could be product–specific (such

Wha What Motivates Me
All of my life I was told "tienes que ir a la escuela!" which means in English, you have to go to school. I was told this so I obeyed, but as a child I
really didn't understand the importance of an education. All I understood was mommy and daddy had to go work all day and I would not be able to
see them until nighttime. I did not pay attention to how food was in the refrigerator, or even where they were employed at. All I knew was that I had
to wake up in the morning and get on the big yellow bus and go to school.
No one in my family in the past generations completed high school. Everyone was told to work to provide for the family because back in Guatemala
education was not free. What really motivated me to attend college was wanting to become someone important. I do not want to simply work all
my life and leave not one mark on this earth. I want to be able to live comfortably and be able to travel; to be able to say I explored the world. I lived
the American Dream. I want to be part of history, where people look back at past events and can find my name mentioned somewhere in the books....

style. I can finally become whatever I want. I can finally know what a six digit salary is! All of this motivates me to go to college. Being able to start

Personal Essay: What Motivates You?
What motivates you? In a small part, every aspect of my life motivates me to strive for my dreams. My family; parents, brothers, sisters, cousins,
nephews and nieces motivate me and push me harder to achieve my goals and aspirations. Me being the first in my family to graduate high
school, and enter into college is a tremendous amount of pressure. I want to be able to prove to them that they can reach their dreams no matter
how old or young, if they are determined. Mainly, I want to show them that everything is obtainable if you work for it. My boyfriend motivates me
to be the best verision of myself that I can be, we both chose to go to SFA together, after I stated I wasn't interested in going to college. He
motivates me to be better, faster, stronger and more determined. He teaches me to set high goals and reach them. Lastly, my coworkers motivate me
to continue to improve my already strong work ethic. As their manager, they depend on me to teach them how to succeed in our work environment.
Having people look up to me motivates me to no end. I love to set examples and be a leader to show people anything is possible. Using the table on
page 237, name 3 personality characteristics you possess and explain why? Without being redundant, three of the personality characteristics that I pride

What Motivates A Team?
As I ponder the question, what motivates a team? I began to think about a time when motivation was lacking in a previous work setting. It was a time
when your achievements were not recognized, a time when you were given new responsibilities with little or no training. As I read the course
materials, I began to identify the basic requirements of motivating a team as well as the elements that discourage a team. Most importantly, I was able
to identify with the true meaning of motivation. Motivation is defined as the process that initiate, guides and maintains goal–oriented behavior (Cherry,
2015).
Several years ago, I worked in an environment lead by one of the most intellectual and charismatic individuals you ever met. As a result, one would
assume that a team with such an accomplished leader would be enthusiastic, innovative and a pleasure to be around. Unfortunately, what appears to be
polished on the outside does not always look good at the core. Consequently, ego and insecurity played a significant role in the workplace at that time.
There was a lack of teamwork and a lack of significance, which was felt throughout. John Maxwell defines the Law of Significance as "one is too small
a number to achieve greatness" (Maxwell, 2001)). Teams benefit from multiple perspectives. Unfortunately, the motivation to initiate new ideas and
concepts was not encouraged in this environment. This is where the ego takes control.
When a supervisor wants to maintain total control

Motivation: what motivates me malls to pursue a college degree? I think what motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is the fact that I
started this process and never finished. The motivation for me is to finish what I had started and to conquer the things that I've always wanted in my
life and to reach for the goals that I've always set for myself before family and life and all of its events came into play that caused me to put my college
goals on hold. I'm a strong believer on not given up on anything and completing the task that I started so for my motivation is to get my degree and
know that I completed something that I set out to do.

Methods to Motivate Employees
Methods to Motivate Employees Barbara Snow HCS/325 August 20, 2012 Dr. Robert Perdiue Motivational Methods Health care organizations in
recent decades have found they must do more with fewer resources, in particular fewer human resources. Economic instability in the United States
coupled with governmental changes in health care reimbursement structures have compelled considerable reductions in force in health care
organizations and in some instances elimination of services previously provided. In this economic environment, dedicated and motivated employees in
health care facilities are the most valuable resources of the organization. However, for employees to be valuable to the organization they must be

Employees must be allowed actively to participate in problem– solving and process improvements to be engaged with moving the department forward.
When it comes to personal growth, people need to feel that they are advancing toward their career objectives and are learning and contributing new
ideas. To feel engaged at work, they need to feel that their manager cares about their own personal growth and advancement, Kruse (2012). The concept
of teamwork and personal growth has been successful in many organizations and has been proven to improve employee job satisfaction. Having open
and honest communication with individuals and teams is another method of motivating employees. In order for employees to be engaged in achieving
departmental goals they must feel as though they are appreciated and their thoughts and ideas are valued. A manager must have effective
communication skills with staff to build these relationships. According to Kruse (2012), communication is critical because it forms the backbone for
all other engagement efforts. It is important for managers to create a system of two–way communication and not just a method of broadcasting
information as found in many organizations. Suggestion for effective communication include: being an active listener, using a variety of personal
communication tactics, communicate what the goals

How Do You Motivate Employees?
How do you motivate employees?
Something really struck me was the Motivation factor amongst employees which could play play a pivotal role in organization that helps in reaching
goals set. A real instance that comes to my mind is 'New United Motor Manufacturing Inc'(NUMMI), a joint venture initiative between General
Motors and Toyota located in Freemont, California. In 1981, NUMMI was initiated for operation and was shiut down in an year. Toyota on the other
hand was looking to built a facility in USA. Toyota was interested in General Motors Freemont facility. GM sensed the opportunity to learn Toyota's
practces of making good quality vehicles with wise utilization of resources. GM shut down its Freemont operation because of its worst workforce
where labours were behaving terribly bad. After, Toyota took over theManagement, it rerecruited the same workforce that was laid off by GM. It was
interesting to see that the once tagged worst workforce, was working at their best and the quality achieved was at high class. It was really surprising
how Toyota could manage to motivate the worst workforce to build better quality products. The answers which I got for that question was that
Toyota listened to oits workforce and considers them as precious asset. It didn't really made sense to me then. How could an assembly floor worker
who was behaving bad and didn't comply to GM had undergone a drastic shift to become best worker? It was evident from reading this article that

20 Ways to Motivate Staff
20 ways to motivate your employees without raising their pay By: Dave Worman, Dr. Motivation It is a costly mistake to get lost in the false theory
that more money equals happy employees. Believing this is costing you valuable time, revenue, employees...and even threatening your own job. Cash
will always be a major factor in motivating people and a solid compensation plan is critical to attracting and keeping key personnel. But the key is
that additional cash is not always the only answer and in many cases not even the best answer. Too many bonus or commission checks get cashed,
spent and forgotten just that quickly. Grocery stores and gasoline stations are among the necessary stops that seem to get in the way of using your extra

Set career paths within your organization. Do you promote from within? I hope you can answer yes to that. Although specific circumstances require
you to look for talent outside your company you should always first consider internal personnel. If you do this you are sending a very positive
message to every one that there are indeed further career opportunities within your organization. 6. Job Titles. When you talk about job titles you are
tapping the self–esteem of people. How someone feels about the way they are perceived in the workforce is a critical component to overall attitude
and morale. Picture a social gathering that includes some of your staff. The subject of work inevitably comes up. Will your people be proud, or
embarrassed, to share their title and workplace? The importance of feeling proud of who you are and what you do is monumental. Be creative as you
think of possibilities for titles. Have your staff come up with ideas giving them input into the titles. Bottom line, you are dealing with pride...and pride
enhances a positive attitude...and a positive attitude is the foundation for continuing success. 7. Good Work Environment. A recent industry study
shows just how inaccurate your results can be. Employers were asked to rank what they thought motivated their people and then employees were asked
to rank what really did motivate them. Employers felt

US Army Motivates Employees
Every company must motivate their employees to ensure the maximum performance is achieved out of each employee for the company and employee
long–term success. In this essay, I will focus on three ways that the US Army motivates employees. The programs include the Awards Program,
Counseling, and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). In the military and in the civilian sector the ultimate goal is for employees to be
happy as they perform their daily duties and make the most profit for the company. It's hard to get top performance out of people who don't enjoy
coming to work. For these reason Companies utilized many forms of motivating employees to ensure the ultimate goal is achieved, increase and
maintain profit. Walt Disney at some point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all motivators have to be rewards and incentives. Fear of punishment is definitively a motivator to perform well or at least perform to standards. If
punishment or strict rules of some kind does not exist in an institution especially as large as the military, control is lost and performance and standards
are declined. An example of a simple punishment for sub–standard performance is the article 15. If a service member is caught malingering or not
performing his job, the leader is authorized to recommend disciplinary action in order to motivate the member to do his job properly. Usually, a
counseling statement and a warning call will do the job but, in cases where this fails, punishment is necessary to ensure the employee changes his
behavior. "Use of non–judicial punishment is proper in all cases involving minor offenses in which non–punitive measures are considered inadequate or
inappropriate". (AR 27–10). Non–judicial punishment as the regulation describes it, is designed to punish members but not affect their career if they
decide to stay in the military. This punishment is a slap in the hand, and records are destroyed after the member leaves the unit where he received the
punishment. If the article is implemented, then the Soldier could receive confinement, pay deductions, and extra labor. This punishment is definitely a
motivator for newer soldiers to perform their job to

What Motivates Me To College

  • 1. What Motivates Me To College What motivates me to start college where my kids and myself, I always wanted to go to college and I did try before, but because of one reason or another I had to stop. It was always in my mind to return to school. I always felt that I was meant to finish college and prove to myself that I could do anything that I set my mine too, and also because I want my kids to see that if you work hard and set your mind on what you want you could do anything. Now days for a person to get promoted in the work place you have to have a college degree and I want to be that person that gets the promotion and gets to do what she always wanted to do. • 2. Training Managers to Motivate Employees Abstract There are a variety of management styles in the field of training and development. With there being so many styles, can training help managers adopt a more autonomy–supportive motivating style toward employees. Will the employees of these managers in turn show a greater workplace engagement? Research shows managers that participate in training, have a more significantly supportive management style. This paper will discuss the managers' motivating styles and the benefits to employees when managers become more autonomy supportive. One of the most challenging parts of a manager's job is the managerial effort to support employees' motivation. A key determinant of how effectively a manager nurtures and supports employees' ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Autonomous motivation is self–authored and personally endorsed as one's own (Ryan &Deci, 2000). There are two types of autonomous motivation that are associated with employees' functioning, intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. Intrinsic motivation involves employees engaging in an activity because they find it interesting and satisfying. They usually express this with comments like, "I enjoy what I do." The other type of autonomous motivation is identified regulation. This involves identifying with the activity performed and the time spent seems important and worth the effort. Most employees express identified regulation through comments as, "The work I do is important to me." Controlled motivation is that which is pressure–based and imposed by forces (i.e. people, rewards, deadlines) outside the person (Ryan & Deci, 2000). A type of controlled motivation is external regulation. This involves employees doing an activity because they expect to gain an external contingency to do so. The motivation is externally controlled because the employees are energized into to working by incentives and to avoid consequences. If the incentives are not present and the consequences are absent, the employees are not motivated to do action. These people can be often heard expressing themselves such as, "I work because the boss is watching." Many managers agree that motivation is important and that the quality of employees' motivation is important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Motivates Society Many things motivate the main character Equality. Thinking of this, some may wonder what is his primary motivation. His primary motivation is to prove everyone and everything he has ever known to be wrong. He was always told to be exactly the same as everyone else, but he wanted to be different. Equality knew his invention could benefit mankind and that's why defied all odds and proves everyone wrong. This motivates him because he's always been told he wasn't able to be smarter or stronger but to be equal to all of his brothers. He was always told he couldn't be anything more than an average human being, in his period of time. This is exactly what motivates him, he was told he could have no affection to another person, no enhancements from the average person. But he knew the invention he made could help his people, but nobody cared or didn't know because he wanted to show everyone a street cleaner could have a purpose too. Though the council rigged the system and made Equality a street sweeper because they were afraid of his enchantment over the people in the society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this book, Anthem, Equality makes a friend and tells him about what he had been working on, his friend wants nothing to do with it because he doesn't want to be in trouble. • 4. Examples Of What Motivates Terrorists What Motivates Terrorists? Abstract This paper will seek to understand what really motivates terrorists to commit the acts that make them so infamous. We are assuming that the chief motivating factor behind the decisions of terrorist organizations is the political outcome of their acts balanced against the risk and collateral damage inflicted to achieve this end. We will also weigh in the appeal ofterrorism on potential recruits in weak states and determine how the motivations of the group become the motivation of the individual and how this benefits the decentralized organization of terrorist organizations like al Qaeda. What Motivates Terrorists? "Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We assume the political options have been weighed and other political avenues are blocked leaving terrorists the only option left of resorting to the bombing of innocents. This marks the logic of terrorist groups as one of consequence. They have been made to resort to the decision to harm innocents. Al Qaeda loves to play the "you brought this upon yourselves" card to justify their actions. The basic human rights are obviously violated by terrorist groups. The right to live free and without fear is taken from the innocent when a bomb explodes in their midst. This kind of collateral damage is justifiable by terrorists. The innocent become objects rather than human beings. The terrorist to meet their political agendas uses these objects. Essentially and end to war and a world ran by sharia. Even if their claims of unavoidable collateral damage were justifiable, that is not enough to make terrorism itself justified. The argument exists that terrorists actually do not achieve their political goals by attacking

  • 6. What Motivates Employees At The Workplace? What Motivates Employees In the Workplace? Keep Your Employees Motivated Understanding the 5 Components of Motivation Many employers know that motivation is a key element of being a good leader. Yet, somehow they still seem to miss the mark when it comes to actively motivating their employees. Employee motivation ought to be a priority on any employer's list and we are here to help guide you, as a leader, in improving your motivation game. It's a proven fact that a workforce that is motivated, engaged and responsive is considerably more productive than an unmotivated, apathetic group of employees. Businesses with motivated employees also benefit from people who work harder and generate higher–quality results. These businesses see lower turnover rates and, in turn, save the time and money it would take to recruit and train replacements. Now before going any further, let's stop and review what exactly motivation is. The Webster dictionary defines motivation as "something inside people that drives them to action." This being the case, what motivates one person may be different from the next. Motivation comes from within. It emerges from theories, out of needs, values, goals, intentions and expectations. Leaders don't need to create motivation. Instead, they need to cultivate and direct the motivation that is already in each employee. By understanding what motivates individual employees, employers and managers will be able to better grasp why people perform the way they do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. What Motivates Me For College What motivates me to go to college,to put hard work in,day after day, and to achieve my goals in higher education is my parents and myself. Since I started elementary school my parents have always motivated me to go to college. I was always a good student, but, when I had entered seventh grade, it all changed. I really did not care about school, i have been just whatever about school period. Then it hit me again in my junior year of high school. Freshman and sophomore I was not really interested in school and didn 't think I was going to college. My parents had a talk with me and that talk changed me. They were just asking me what am I going to do with my life if I didn 't go on with school and all this other stuff that made me think really hard. I didn 't want to make my parents think that their son was a failure, they raised a failure. I changed my ways and started doing better in school and now I am currently attending Cal State University of Los Angeles. Now they are more proud than ever, me being the first one in my family to attend a university. My parents will always be my biggest motivators. One reason why my parents will always be my biggest motivators is because they know what 's right from wrong and they know life. They tell me and always pushed me to do my best no matter what. They told me I 'm going to have a lot of distraction and a lot of things I do not want to go through but, its going to happen, thats just life. In the beginning of Elementary school, I ... • 9. Definition Essay: What Motivates Me What motivates you? This could be one of the most important questions you could ever ask yourself. It's funny, but you know, until recently, I don't think I ever considered this question myself. But some interesting conversations happened when I did ask myself this question. What DOES motivate me? I never really thought about it, so when I did, it made me do some deep self–analysis. Motivation may be the most misunderstood subject known to man. My guess is that most of us don't really know what motivates us. And if we don't even think consciously about what we are motivated by, thinking about what motivates others is probably going to be the furthest thing from our minds. And both of these oversights can stifle our career ascent. Motivation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That's probably why most people have a hard time climbing out of the socio–economic class that they were born into. If your father wasn't motivated by having a big house, a new car, a yacht, and a second home in the country, odds are you probably won't be motivated by those things either. And even if you are, your drive and ambition are probably inherited traits also, so achieving those things won't come easy. Therefore, when you fail to achieve them, your instinct kicks in and tells you that it's OK. If your father didn't need those things, then you don't need those things either. And maybe you don't. After all, everybody knows that happiness is much more important than money and of course, money can't buy you happiness. But that's not my point. What's important is to understand that we are all motivated by different things. And the more that we understand about what drives us, the easier it will be for us to fill our own tanks in order to help us to achieve the things that we really do want. And what's even more important is that once we understand what motivates us, we begin to get a better understanding about what motivates others. Motivating others is how you really get things done. That's how leaders are born. Article Source: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organizational Leadership===================== II.What issue(s) or specific problem(s) do you want to address in your Advanced Project, and why is that of interest to you? ===================== I'd like to address the problem of how leaders motivate employees in organizations. This is a general topic which can have a wide range of applicability (and that's part of its appeal to me). But the problem of employee motivation, and how leaders can stimulate and/or make use of that motivation, is critical to the success of any organization. A leader can have the perfect plan of action and yet fall short of meeting their objective simply because they did not know how to generate momentum among their subordinates in an organization. If I am to find myself in a leadership position–this is a problem I'd like to avoid! ===================== III.What are your expected learning outcomes? ===================== Please articulate at least three different learning outcomes by describing how the Advanced Project will increase your background knowledge: ===================== The advanced project will give m a solid base of knowledge about how members of an organization are motivated to complete its various projects (critical projects and otherwise). This knowledge base will make me more equipped to spot problems in my own style of leadership, as well as in the organization I try to lead. And spotting such problems is, of course, a ... • 15. Managing And Motivate Multi Generational Organizations For the first time ever, five generations are working together under one roof creating today's multi–generational workforce. Our current workforce is comprised of Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z, whom are all working side by side despite major age and hierarchal differences. Diversity is extremely valuable in an organization, however; management must know how to properly motivate each age group in order to reap the benefits of today's workforce. It is of upmost importance for organizations to effectively handle the cultural, lifestyle, and communication differences between the span of five generations which can pose a challenge to management. These five generations all have different beliefs, goals, attitudes, and priorities which need to be taken into consideration to avoid misunderstanding amongst co–workers. Consequently, having such a variety in ideas and visions from people ranging in ages from ages 16–68 can strengthen an organization in many ways. In this paper I will provide research from several sources to compose ideas on how to effectively manage and motivate multi–generational organizations. I will study each generation to establish their strengths, weaknesses, work habits, communication styles and values to determine the best way to overcome challenges and obstacles. A properly managed collaboration of these generations will give an organization tremendous opportunity and growth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. What Motivates Employees Essay How do you get things done in an organization? First, you must have managers who can delegate to employees. Effective managers have the ability to get things done through other people. This is accomplished by motivating employees to accomplish tasks. A manager must be able to delegate these tasks to employees. The technique a manager uses to motivate employees to work for him, will either motivate or dissatisfy employees. Motivated employees will work with the manager to achieve company goals. Those employees who are dissatisfied will work against company goals. It wasn't that long ago that employees were considered "just another input into the production of goods and services."(Linder 1998) Elton Mayo had a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This style is involved with the "charisma, ability to inspire motivation,..., and ability to relate to others." (Davidhizar 1997, 17) The encouragement the manager offers must be genuine or else it is perceived as a form of manipulation. Some employees see non–genuine encouragement as management being fake and trying to get one over on them. This will make the managers job much more difficult. Encouragement doesn't cost the company anything and it's in all managers best interest to practice it freely and regularly. Transformational leadership is about "empowerment, cooperation and shared responsibilities." (Davidhizar 1997, 20) So managers must be comfortable with all forms of encouragement. Also, when positive actions are encouraged those actions are more likely to be repeated. Many managers only punish negative behavior never reinforcing positive behavior. When employees are constantly punished they learn not to vary from what is safe. Managers that reprimand are usually the type of managers that leave very little of an employees job to the imagination. This type of management style leads to employees being unmotivated, because the job doesn't let them use their abilities. Many managers believe that punishment will stop undesirable behavior, punishment doesn't necessarily assure the behavior will not happen again. It will most likely lead to employees "only exhibiting behavior that attracts praise and reward and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inspirational motivation is the degree to which a leader articulates a vision that is appealing and inspiring to followers (Riggio, 2009). The leadership of JLB enterprises could reexamine and revise its mission statement and introduce a more positive set of future goals at a company–wide meeting. Additionally, JLB Enterprises could create and introduce a production based incentive program. Some possible elements of this program might include wage bonuses and additional paid days off. Individualized influence is the degree to which the leader acts as a role model for their followers (Riggio, 2009). In an effort to raise performance expectations JLB Enterprise's executive management could institute both a manager of the month and an employee of the month program. If the manager of the month program included one–on–one mentorship time with a senior manager then it is more likely that the junior manager would emulate their mentors values and behaviors. Likewise the junior manager could mentor each of his employees so that values and behaviors might be more consistent throughout the company. Conclusion In conclusion, by utilizing all four elements of the transformational leadership theory employee morale and production would likely increase at JLB Enterprises.
