1. Glebe House is a unique and special place for people of all ages, from Ireland,
north and south, and all over the world.
Since 1975 children, young people and adults have been coming to Glebe House for a
week, two weeks, a weekend, or a day, to live together, play together, work
together, learn together, and while we're at it discover that life can be more
interesting, more rewarding, more creative, more adventurous, and more fun than
the labels that get stuck on us.

2. Glebe House Teenage Environmental project
part funded by
Northern Ireland Environment Link—Challenge Fund 2014
During February and March Glebe House will be running a number of
weekend programmes for teenagers interested in participating in an
Environmental project.
The project will give the teenagers the opportunity to learn a bit more
about nature and the environment and have the chance to carry out
voluntary work on the land at Glebe House.
The project
Glebe House is owned and run by Harmony Community Trust and is a
Residential and Day activity centre near Strangford in Co Down.
Glebe House is set in 16 acres of farmland and since its early days has
worked to develop and to conserve the land within its trust.
This project will continue this development and will concentrate on
working within the play area.
We will be contacting community groups and older children who have
been involved in our programmes during the last few years.
We will be offering places on the weekends and will provide transport
and full accommodation and food during the weekends.
We will also be running a number of day activities for volunteers who
are interested in this project.
The volunteers will be given training in certain aspects of the work to
be carried out and will be asked to give an input into developing the
plans for the project.
This is an ongoing project that we will continue over the next number
of years and is dependant on funding.
Teenagers and Volunteers will get the opportunity to:
•
Help with the planning of the project.
•
Will learn about tree and shrub planting and husbandry.
•
Will work on the project areas helping with clearing the land,
•
Landscaping the areas, tree and shrub planting, and helping to
construct play structures within the project area’s.
We work will include:
•
Developing and finishing some play structures.
•
Planning and landscaping within the area.
•
