This workshop aims to inspire students to observe the world of animals and realise the importance of the shape and position of their eyes. Participants research the subject and then create relevant video collections. They focus on certain details and then use the technology of Augmented Reality to animate what they learned and find answers to what left an impression during the process.
1. “We observe simple things and discover the causes
that are happening!”
____
“Always remember that there's a strong link between
the shape of an animal's pupil and its way of life.”
Marty Banks and his researchers
Let’s start working!
2. Let’s start working!
Today we will create video collages. In the next session
we will turn them into interactive works. Finally, we will
set up our own art exhibition combined with useful texts
about the animals‘ eyes and their importance.
5. Search “animals” in general or specific animals that you would
like such as “goat” or “lion”.

10. Video Imprints
Step 1
We stick our A4 printed screenshots to the table with tape or
blutack. Above this, we place the rice paper and we stick it as
well.
11. Video Imprints
Step 2
With a black pen, we draw the imprint of our video. Be careful
to draw all the eyes of the animals as well.
12. Video Imprints
Step 3
We take a good picture of our black
and white final artwork.
With a tool of our choice we edit and
crop our drawing to the limit of the
square image.
13. Video Imprints
Step 4
Now we will use the photo and the video collage.

14. Video Imprints
Step 5
With the Artitive app, we can see how our drawings turn out
into augmented reality artwork!
15. “Did you know?” texts
Step 1
What can we notice from our videos and prints in relation to
each animal’s eyes?
What is the "lifestyle" of the animal? Is it a predator or prey
animal? Is it more active during the day or night?
16. “Did you know?” texts
Step 1
Each team writes down on the “Did you know?” sheet 3 or 4
things about the animals in the video and their eyes. You can
write anything that you learned in the workshop or what you
have searched in the internet.
17. “Did you know?” texts
Step 2
Finally, we stick our “Did you know?” texts next to our
artwords on the wall, and our exhibition is ready for the
visitors!
