Mr Gino Fransman presented on introducing open educational resources (OER) at NMMU in 2015. He discussed how increased technology access allows resources to be available anytime, anywhere, and encouraged considering open alternatives for teaching and learning support. OER are defined as resources with an open license allowing reuse and adaptation without permission. Several OER websites and examples were provided. Fransman advocated for opening up educational possibilities through knowledge sharing and highlighted NMMU's focus on collaborative and problem-based assessments. Attendees were invited to contact Fransman to further discuss implementing OER.

7. P2PU
The Peer 2 Peer University is a grassroots open education project that
organizes learning outside of institutional walls and gives learners
recognition for their achievements. P2PU creates a model for lifelong
learning alongside traditional formal higher education. Leveraging the
internet and educational materials openly available online, P2PU
enables high-quality low-cost education opportunities.
