Parker solenoid valves include types and configurations for a wide variety of hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, medical, refrigeration and aerospace applications. Solenoid valve solutions offer reliability, fast and safe switching and compact designs suitable for challenging environments.
1. Parker Solenoid Valve by GGHYD
Solenoid valves manage the flow rate of fluid and gases in systems, devices, and motors. These
valves have been beneficial to various systems, control cylinders, motors, and other industrial
valves acting on more than a few fundamental and multifaceted applications.
Steps in Maintaining a Solenoid Valve:
Good and practical maintenance of a solenoid valve can make its life longer. Hands-on
management can create the best likely execution of the valve control and the system as a
whole, including a long product life.
Steps in maintaining a solenoidvalve consider the following:
• Safety first. Disconnect the power source and depressurize the system before repairing
a valve. Also, be sure to properly and safely handle the unit based on the fluid, it
controls.
• Check the coil for any crack in its covering. Moisture can capture the coil and affect the
performance of the solenoid valve. Coil connections ought to be looked into damage or
deterioration.
• Consider examining the seals that may distend, have cracks, or have been damaged. You
should check the springs if worn, coils if broken, body orifice may be scratched, and the
crest may be damaged.
2. Basic Parts of a Solenoid Valve
1. Valve body
The solenoid valve is attached to the valve body. The valve is hooked up in the process of
controlling the flow of liquid, air, or gas.
2. Inlet port
The fluid goes into the inlet port within which the automatic valve gain entry to the eventual
process.
3. Outlet port
The fluid flowing through the automatic valve goes out by the outlet port which are connected
to the process of necessitating fluid.
3. 4. Coil Solenoid
The steel-covered cylindrical solenoid coil of wire inside the valve serves as a current-carrying
coil functioning like a magnet.
5. Coil windings
The completed solenoid coil assembly is comprised of a tightly packed helix or series of
enameled wire circling the ferromagnetic material like steel. A plunger or piston may be found
within the hollow portion of the coil. The spring controls the movement of the plunger or piston
within the coil.
6. Lead wires
These are outer connections of the valve where the current from the power supply is passed
through the valve toenergize. The current flow stops when the power is cut-off.
7. Plunger or piston
As the current passes through the control valve, it generates magnetic field within the hollowed
space of the valve wherein the solid, cylindrical, metallic plunger or piston is placed.
8. Spring
This forces the plunger to control the fluid allowing the motion of the plunger or piston only
when the current flows through the solenoid valve.
9. Orifice
This serves to connect the inlet and the outlet ports. The spring and the current flowing through
the valve control the movement of the plunger or piston which in turn controls the opening of
the orifice.
4. Types of a Solenoid Valve:
• Direct-acting valve - Direct operated solenoids have the simplest working principle. In a
normally closed valve, the media flows through a small orifice which can be closed off by a
plunger with a rubber gasket at the bottom. In a direct acting solenoid valve, the plunger is
held down by a small spring made of ferromagnetic material. An electric coil is positioned
around the plunger and as soon as the coil is electrically energized.
• Pilot operated valve - Pilot operated valves uses the differential pressure of the medium
over the valve ports to open and close. It is also known as a servo-assisted solenoids, these
valves provide high flow rates and can operate at higher pressure and temperature ranges,
with lower power consumption.
• 2 Way valve - The ports of this valve are used interchangeably to facilitate opening or
closing of the valve. It can either be indicated as normally open valve or normally closed
valve in its function. Normally closed solenoid valve is used majority of the time, operating
in the opposite manner, keeping closed awaiting activating source to open it.
• 3 Way valve - This type of control valve has three ports. As alternate pressure and
exhaustive pressure are needed for working of a tools or appliances, this three way valve is
frequently used.
• 4 Way valve - This valve includes four ports. It is either specified as normally open,
normally closed, or universal. This is used along with a dual acting cylinder or actuator. Two
of the ports provide pressure while the rest exhaust pressure.
