1. Egyptian Murals
•
• The Egyptians used Gold and precious stones.
• Gold was used as it was one of the most important material that they used in
their murals.
• Slaves made the Murals.
• Slaves carved a picture into a wall and painted it with fruits and oils which
were made into a type of paint.
• The purpose for creating a mural was to keep a record of what life was like.
• Murals were often created in Tombs.
• Public murals usually intend to make a political or cultural statement through
art.
• The murals would tell the history about romantic stories, the kings, leaders,
Egyptian people, so basically the murals would have story of how the
Egyptians lived their lives.
Roman Murals
• The murals were made with tiles and were called Mosaics.
• The murals were colourful and usually showed people and everyday life.
• The Romans used Mosaics in their murals and the materials they used were
small pieces of colour red glass, square tiles, stone, and many other materials
that they found useful to us in their mosaics
• Unlike during other times murals were created inside buildings rather then on
external walls.
• The process of creating a mural was to design a piece of art and enlarged the
art by drawing the outline onto a square tile that was hand made then they
used a specific glue called mortar to finalize the artwork. This took a very long
time because in those days they didn’t have the resources like we do now.
Unfortunately we do not know the name of the artiest that created this fine
looking piece of art.
Victorian
• Victorian would paint there Murals with a brush.
• There pictures were light and heavenly.
• They usually were of woman and angels.
• They usually painted them on the ceiling.
• They usually used gentle lines but they sometimes used reds and sharp lines.
• They were mainly used for decoration and to tell a story or preserve history.
