1. • What materials did they use to create their murals and why? Where
they were normally created?
Many Egyptian murals were made from gold. They would also make
these murals in the houses of the kings and queens.
• What was the process of creating a mural and who did it?
They use the Buon fresco technique which consists of painting in pigment
mixed with water on a thin layer of plaster. The pigment is then absorbed
by the wet plaster after a number of hours; the plaster dries and reacts
with the air. They engraved onto the limestone then they made then they
made the colours from oil.
They made the slaves make the murals.
• What was the reason/purpose for creating murals?
Egyptians use murals to keep a record of their history and their future
generations. The types of murals found in the tomb would show how rich
or poor the people were. The murals would show how the Egyptians lived
their lives and if there was a important time in the period they would
make a mural for it.
• What sort of content did the murals normally have, why? Provide
examples.
Contained historical events.
They drew images of daily life and scenes of entertainment. Daily life and
history of the pharaohs and their families.
