of the whole organisation
• Commonwealth Infrastructure Partners (CIP) capacity building
programmes focus on developing the capabilities of the whole
organisation.
• We call these organisational capacity building programmes.
• We work with the client organisation to create and deliver programmes
that focus on the challenges and needs of the organisation.
• At the same time as developing the professional capacity of the
individual participants.

Systematic methodology for programme
development
• The first step in developing a programme is a dialogue with the senior
management of the client organisation, through which we identify the
priorities and agree on a framework of training.
• The second step is to engage with one or more of our subject-specialist
partners to develop a capacity building programme that fulfils the
requirements.
• Our programmes are outcome led, and we work with the senior
management and participants in the programme to achieve optimum
results.

Specialist programmes to develop
international best practice
• Our partner specialists are leaders in their fields. We work with
them to design programmes that will result in the development of
international best practice for the sector.
• The CIP capacity building model is in contrast to the predominant
method for training programmes, in which standardised off-the-
shelf programmes are provided for the client, without sufficient
regard for the specific needs and challenges of the organisation.
