LESSON PLAN

This lesson plan was created for a low pre-intermediate course. The aim
is to revise simple present and present continuous.

Topic: jobs and occupations.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE UNIT OF WORK:

   • Learn vocabulary on jobs and professions as well as places.

   • Read and understand texts about jobs and professions

   • Talk about their daily routines.

   • Talk about what’s happening now.

   • Be able to know the difference between present simple and
       present continuous

Activity #1: Match

Sts have to match each profession with its definition. The aim of this
activity is to present of topic. They will be also learning new vocabulary
which then will be useful for the rest of the unit since Sts will be
contrasting present simple and present continuous through activities
related to jobs to professions.

Activity #2: Match

In this case, Sts will match some pictures of professionals with the
corresponding sentence. There are 2 pictures and two sentences (one
with present simple and the other with present continuous) for a given
profession so Sts have to decide in which case they have to use present
simple or continuous.
Activity #3: Cloze

Here, we will focus on a specific profession, in this case, a ballet dancer.
We will see some verbs related to this profession and again, in order to fill
in the blanks, they will have to decide if they have to use present simple
or continuous.

Activity #4: Crossword

The aim of this activity is to learn vocabulary on places.

Activity #5-: Mix

The aim of this activity is to practise affirmative, negative and
interrogative sentences in the present simple tense.

Activity #6: Cloze

In this exersice, Sts will work on a revision of present simple. The text is
about the everyday life of a student, therefore, sts wil have to write the
correct form of the verb according to the context.

Activity #7: Quiz

This activity is related to the previous one, here Sts will work on a reading
comprehension exercise. They will have to choose the correct answer to
the questions depending on the text they had read before.

Activity #8: Mix

Although the activity is a bit drilling, the aim is to practice the position of
the adverb of frequency in the sentence.
