A Crash Course in Creativity
Assignment #2
Teddy goes shopping - A teacher's journey with Teddy to observe six different stores where she finds how educational the experience can be.
3. Anthropologie
Mom took me to a big pretty
store. A nice lady said “hi” to
us right away.
It smelled like sweet
grapefruit in there. Mom
wanted to stay for a while.
The store was open, colorful
and I saw many exciting things.
And I also saw…
5. APPLE
We went to another store, but it
was very different and I didn’t
want to stay long because it was
crowded, noisy and very plain. I
wanted to play with their Ipads
but I had to wait for my turn a
long time. But before we left I
found…
7. RED BARN
Next day, mom wanted to buy some
plants. I liked this place a lot because
everybody was happy and the place
was very big and open. They had a
pumpkin patch and a lot of people
were taking pictures there. I saw
many nice plants and I got to practice
my…
9. Disney Store
We saw the Disney store on
the way! I love it because they
have many toys and I can
touch them. It is very colorful
and festive in there. Mom said
the store was all jumbled. I
wanted many toys but I have
to wait for Christmas…
10. I saw many
animals, some are
mammals, others
are fish, birds or
amphibians. I
know a lot!
11. TEXAS STORE
At the mall, we saw the Texas Store and
went in because they were having a shirt
sale. It was the smallest store of all.
Employees were serious in there and there
weren’t many customers. They had many
things but they didn’t fit in the store. They
need a bigger one!
12. Texas flag has 1
star, the longhorn
has 2 horns, I saw
3 golf balls in a
box and 4
Christmas
ornaments.
Everything was
Texan here, just
like me.
13. HEB
Last we went to HEB for
groceries. I like going here
because they have samples of
delicious food. Everybody is
nice in here but they are very
busy. There are a lot of people
buying many things. They have
everything and it is cheap. I
found food from the food
pyramid…
15. At the end of this journey with Teddy I realized I
wasn’t previously paying full attention to how the
people, environment, and merchandizing influence
buying decisions.
As a teacher I also found many opportunities to engage
children in learning exercises which can make shopping
experiences more enjoyable for both children and
adults.
Thanks for your time!
