Lighting
1. Lighting
For the lighting I had a number of ideas to try out in the dance studio. For example;
Red lights- this would connote danger or devilish behaviour, or even angry moods
from the main character, creating a scary atmosphere.
Bright white lights – this would connote that there is some innocence in the
character, or that she isn’t thinking properly because in her head it is just blank. This
would give an unknowing approach to the opening sequence.
Almost pitch black – this would make it hard to see every movement but just catch
little things, creating suspense.
Light blue – This would give the room a creepy and cold atmosphere.
I decided that when in the woods, as we do not have a choice if the natural lighting would
be light or dark. We could have it how it would be at the time we went out, around 2pm.
This would work because many horror films do not start off really scary but gradually get
worse as it goes on. So the high key lighting wouldn’t ruin the genre.
