3. Who is wise?
•Man thinks he’s so smart…
•We have achieved many things
•But all of them are small in
comparison to the creation
•True wisdom, however is not
acquired information, but practical insight with
spiritual implication
•Saul ofTarsus– super brain, 7 languages, clueless
until the Spirit removed the scales from his eyes
4. “13Who among you is wise and understanding?
Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in
the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have
bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your
heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the
truth. 15This wisdom is not that which comes
down from above, but is earthly, natural,
demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish
ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil
thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first
5. pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full
of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without
hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is
righteousness is sown in peace by those who
make peace.”
James 3:13-18, NASB
7. “Who among you is wise and
understanding? Let him show by his
good behavior his deeds in the
gentleness of wisdom.”
James 3:13, NASB
8. A.Wisdom is from Above…
•V13, the verse indicates wisdom is
shown in kindness of deeds and by
good behavior
•Think now of Saul ofTarsus
•When God’s wisdom pours out of a
man it’s a magnificent thing–
effecting all those around him, and
generations to come!
•Vs 14-16,
9. “14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish
ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and
so lie against the truth. 15This wisdom is not
that which comes down from above, but is
earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy
and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and
every evil thing.”
James 3:14-16, NASB
10. A.Wisdom is from Above…
•Vs 14-16, when we’re jealous and
envious, we either can’t see the truth,
or refuse to follow it
•Because we want to justify our
jealous behavior, we tend to think we
are right and everybody else is wrong
•How can one know that they are
walking in truth, not jealous envy?
•Lets make a list!
11. Walking inTruth, or Jealousness?
1. When I’m in the middle of a mess and strife,
do I pray for God’s Will in and through the
situation, or do I pray from my will and way
to happen?
2. What kind of petitions do I make of God?
3. If praying about some sort of disagreement,
do I automatically ask for God to punish my
opposition, or do I listen for God’s direction?
4. Do I remember to examine myself ?
12. Walking inTruth, or Jealousness?
5. If I find something wrong, do I repent?
6. If I “lose” the argument, do I plan revenge?
13. “19 Never take your own revenge,
beloved, but leave room for the wrath
of God, for it is written, ‘VENGEANCE IS
MINE, IWILL REPAY’, says the Lord.”
Romans 12:19, NASB
14. Walking inTruth, or Jealousness?
5. If I find something wrong, do I repent?
6. If I “lose” the argument, do I plan revenge?
7. Finally– when its all said and done– would
you have ‘finished’ that way if Jesus was
physically standing beside you?
•Oft times we choose to “close-out” a chapter of
life in a flashy, fleshy, bang– when God would
have had us to silently walk away…
16. “17 But the wisdom from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of

theValley if every decision we made
was handled with God’sWisdom!!
26. Take Home!
•Wisdom is the
application of God’s
Word to our
knowledge
•Whatever you do, do
it in HisWisdom!
