St. Louise de Marillac: Animator of the Confraternities of Charity
But wait! there is more part 08 (more power)
1. Acts 1:1-2
In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all
that Jesus began to do and to teach, until the
day He was taken up to heaven, after giving
instructions through the Holy Spirit to the
apostles He had chosen.

2. Acts 1:3
After His suffering, He showed Himself to these
men and gave many convincing proofs that He
was alive. He appeared to them over a period of
forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

3. Acts 1:4-5
On one occasion, while He was eating with them,
He gave them this command: ‘Do not leave
Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father
promised, which you have heard Me speak
about. For John baptized with water, but in a
few days you will be baptized with the Holy
Spirit.’

4. Acts 1:6-8
So when they met together, they asked Him,
‘Lord, are You at this time going to restore the
Kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for
you to know the times or dates the Father has
set by His own authority. But you will receive
power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’

5. “Now to Him Who is able to do
immeasurably more…according
to His power that is at work
WITHIN us” (Eph. 3:20)
Most importantly we saw names WRITTEN in
heaven.
Healing is exciting, but the GREATER miracle is
when someone comes to faith
Jesus’ resurrection means there is more POWER.
6. Part of faith is learning to walk in
what has been made AVAILABLE
to us through the death and
resurrection of Jesus.
Acts records how Jesus CONTINUES to do and
teach through His people.
It is not ENOUGH to simply know the teachings
of Jesus.
They were to wait for the PROMISED POWER of
the Holy Spirit.
7. …we take for GRANTED the ways
that God’s power is evident in
our midst.
Being a witness begins in the places NEAREST
you.
Power to be a witness includes LIFE CHANGE in
you.
God’s design is that what Jesus began to do is
now continued through YOU by the Holy Spirit.

Communication Card
My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Ask and watch for opportunities for God to use me
( ) Spend more time in personal worship/communion
with God
( ) Be intentional (and prayerful) about talking to
someone about Jesus this week.
( ) Examine if my life is becoming more reflective of
Jesus
