What is racism?
•Racism is when someone’s treated
differently or unfairly just because of
their race or culture. People can also
experience prejudice, when a
decision
is made or opinion formed without
knowledge, throught or reason,
because
of their religion or nationality.

•Institutinal racism, also known as
systemic racism, is defined as
policies and practices that exist
throughout a support a continued
unfair advantage to some people
and unfair or harmful treatment of
other based on race.

INDIVIDUAL RACISM INTERNALIZED RACISM
•An individual racist
assumptions, beliefs, or
behaviors and is a form of racial
discrimination that stems from
conscious and unconscious,
personal prejudice.
Internalized racism lies within
individual. We absorb the cultural
racism ideas of the racial hierarchy
and accept inequity as normal.
People targeted by racism come
believe that the stereotypes and
prejudices of racism are valid.

•Racism can impact on a victim, their family and communication, especially
when the response of a leader, neighbour and authoirities.
•Members of the same minority groups can react as if the same has
happened to them.
Communities can become isolated and from apart.
