Criminals have been existing ever since the early ages, and even as time have passed- their actions grow to become more gruesome and disturbing. Some victims have claimed their justice but some have not- Here are some of the most disturbing cases of all time!
3. 44 DAYS OF HELL| JUNKO FURUTA
Nov. 25 1988 – Jan 4
1989
• Hiroshi Miyano – 18-year-old at the time
of the crime
• Jo Ogura – 18 years old at the timeof the
crime
• Shinji Minato – 16-year-old at the timeof
the crime
• Yasushi Watanabe – 17-year-old at the
timeof the crime
CAPTORS Junko Furuta attended highschool in
Misato, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. She
did not smoke, did not drink alcohol, and
did not do drugs, which was seen as very
uncool in the eyes of more gangster-like
teens. One of them – Hiroshi Miyano,
had a crush on her but not looking for a
relationship. Junko Furuta turned him
down. Hiroshi Miyano was the bully in
the school and involved with the new
generations of the Yakuza, nobody dared
to oppose him.
But because of this rejection she was
kidnapped by four teenage boys on Nov.
25 1988. The boys took Junko Furuta to
the house owned by one of the
kidnappers’ parents in the Ayase district
of Adachi, Tokyo.
She had been forced to call her parents
and tell them that she’d run away and is
going to stay with a friend, but insist that
she’s not in danger.
During 44 days, when she was repeatedly tortured,
beaten, and raped, Junko Furuta begged her captors
several times to just kill her and be done with it. They
didn’t grant her that favor. Instead, on January 4, 1989,
they challenged her to a game of Mahjong solitaire. She
won, and that pissed the boys off, so they treated her to a
beating with an iron barbell and fire by setting her legs,
arms, face, and stomach alight after pouring lighter fluid
on them. Being already severely beaten, dehydrated, and
malnourished, Junko Furuta fell into a shock and died the
following day.
The murderers stuffed the dead girl’s body in a 55-gallon
drum filled with concrete and disposed of it in Koto,
Tokyo.
4. On August 28, 1984, Josef called his daughter into the
basement of the family’s home. He was re-fitting a door to the
newly renovated cellar and needed help carrying it. As
Elisabeth held the door, Josef fixed it into place. As soon as it
was on the hinges, he swung it open, forcing Elisabeth inside
and knocking her unconscious with an ether-soaked towel.
For the next 24 years, the inside of the dirt-walled cellar would
be the only thing Elisabeth Fritzl would see. Her father would
lie to her mother and the police, feeding them stories about
how she’d run away and joined a cult. Eventually, the police
investigation into her whereabouts would run cold and before
long, the world would forget about the missing Fritzl girl.
As far as the rest of the Fritzl family was concerned, Josef
would head down to the basement every morning at 9 AM to
draw plans for the machines that he sold. Occasionally, he
would spend the night, but his wife wouldn’t worry – her
husband was a hard-working man and was thoroughly
dedicated to his career.
As far as Elisabeth Fritzl was concerned, Josef was a monster.
At the minimum, he would visit her in the basement three
times a week. Usually, it was every day. For the first two years,
he left her alone, keeping her captive. Then, he began to rape
her, continuing the nightly visits he had begun when she was
just 11 years old.
She had 7 children during her captivity. One child died
shortly after birth, and three—Lisa, Monika, and
Alexander—were removed from the chamber as infants
to live with Fritzl and his wife, who were approved by
local social services authorities as their foster parents.
Elisabeth got her freedom on April 26, 2008, aged 42. She was
able to escape from the basement after one of her children fell
unconscious and Josef agreed to get her medical care. It was
here that the police were tipped off by medical staff and
Elisabeth told them what had happened to her
THE FRITZL CASE
5. The Columbine High School shooting took place on April 20th, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado a
suburb of Denver. The shooting is also commonly referred to as the ‘Columbine High School
Massacre’, with a total of fifteen dead. The shooters, seniors Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris,
murdered 12 students and 1 teacher, and injured over 21 others. The murders came to and end
with Klebold and Harris turning the guns on themselves, both committing suicide. The shooting
marked the deadliest school shooting in American history at the time.
The events of the shooting unfolded within the span of under thirty minutes, with Klebold and
Harris arriving at the school at around 11:20 am. With duffle bags in hand, they first entered
the cafeteria, with no intention of beginning to start shooting yet. Each bag contained a
propane bomb, set to detonate during the cafeteria’s busiest lunch period. Prior to their arrival
at the school, Klebold and Harris had each placed a backpack containing small propane bombs,
a pipe bomb and aerosol canisters at a meadow located three miles away from the school.
These bombs partially detonated, alerting the police of Klebold and Harris’ earlier activities.
Following placing the bombs in the cafeteria, Harris and Klebold went back out to the parking
lot to wait for the bombs to detonate. However, once they realized the bombs failed to
detonate, they began to make their way back to entering the school.
1. The beginning of the shooting was marked b
Klebold tossing a pipe bomb into the parking lo
which partially detonated, catching the attention
of surrounding students who were on their lunch
break. Many students were confused, thinking i
was a part of some sort of senior prank, while
others took note of their trench coats and
concealed weapons, beginning to run from the
parking lot. The first victim claimed by the
shooting was 17-year-old Rachel Scott, who
was shot while eating lunch with a friend in fron
of the entrance to the school.
Klebold and Harris proceeded to enter the school, making their way to the
cafeteria. Upon entering, they were shooting at students in the hallway who
were under the impression that their guns were paintball guns, thus
continuing to walk towards them. One of these students was sophomore
Lance Kirklin, who was shot four times, lying on the floor, calling out for
help, when Klebold stood above him and said “Sure man I’ll help you”, to
which he shot him in the face. Kirklin survived, and as Klebold walked away,
he apologized, saying “Sorry, man”, according to Kirklin. Klebold and Harris
passed through the cafeteria, not shooting at anyone. As they made their
way to the staircase leading up to the library, according to ABC News,
witnesses say they were laughing and shouting positive things such as “This
is what we always wanted to do! This is awesome!”
In the library, Klebold and Harris killed 12 and injured 10. They left at around
11:36 am, proceeding to toss pipe bombs in the hallway as they were heading
back down to the cafeteria. They made rounds around the school, storming down
hallways and looking in classrooms before re-entering the library, which was
mostly empty of students except for those who could not move due to their
injuries. According to police reports, by 12:08 pm Klebold and Harris had
committed suicide.
COLUMBINE HIGH SCOOL MASSACRE
6. In the evening of 22nd September, 2006, 16-year-old
Cassie Jo Stoddart arrived at her aunt and uncle’s home in
Bannock County, Idaho, to look after their house while
they went away for the weekend. Her boyfriend, Matt
Beckham, turned up at around 6pm to keep her company
for a while.
Later that same evening, two school classmates named
Brian Draper (16) and Torey Adamcik (16) also arrived at
the house, and together they all settled down to watch
Kill Bill: Volume 2. However, before the film ended, Brian
and Torey announced they were leaving to visit a local
movie theatre instead. The four friends said their
goodbyes, and the two boys left. However, unbeknownst
to Cassie or Matt, Brian and Torey had unlocked the back
door on their way out.
A short while later, Brian and Torey returned wearing dark
outfits and masks. They crept back into the house through
the unlocked door which led into the basement, where
they began taunting the young couple. While Matt and
Cassie watched TV, Brian and Torey began making loud
noises in an attempt to coax their friends down into the
basement. When that failed, they instead shut off the
power.
With the lights cutting out, Cassie began to feel
uneasy, which was worsened by the fact the
family’s dog was constantly growling at the
basement door. Matt called his mother and
asked if he could remain at the house with
Cassie for the night, so that she felt safer. Matt’s
mother declined this request, but said that
Cassie was welcome to stay at their home for
the night and offered to drop her back off at her
aunt and uncle’s house the next morning. Cassie
turned down this offer, as she felt responsible
for the pets and did not want to leave them
unattended. At approximately 10:30pm, Matt’s
mother arrived to pick him up and Cassie was
left alone.
After hearing Matt leave, Brian and Torey began to terrorize Cassie
further. They turned the power off and on again in the hopes of
luring her to the basement to fix the problem, but without
success. Instead, she remained on the sofa scared and in darkness,
hoping to fall asleep and find everything back to normal the next
day. Sadly, however, Cassie did not live to see the morning.
Eventually, the two boys grew bored of waiting and silently made
their way upstairs armed with a selection of knives. They began
slamming doors to terrify their victim even more, but when she
did not react and approach their hiding place, they entered the
living room and inflicted on her a vicious attack. Cassie was
stabbed approximately 30 times and sustained wounds all over
her body — including her chest, neck, back and abdomen — with
12 of these being considered fatal.
In the days leading up to the murder, Adamcik and
Draper had documented their murderous plans in a
series of video recordings. These included conversations
exposing Draper and Adamcik as horror movie fanatics.
They spoke of being inspired by the movie Scream,
which revolves around a masked murderer taunting
terrified students — sometimes in their own homes —
and stabbing them to death. In the Scream movies, it
turns out the killer ‘Ghostface’ and the victims know
each other, as they attend the same high school.
THE SCREAM MURDER
7. In 2007, Daniel Patry killed Gabriel Kuhn. Despite being over a decade
ago, the case is still pretty fresh in everyone’s mind, especially since
both the victim and the killer were teenagers.
Gabe Kuhn and Daniel Patry were good acquaintances who played Tibia
together because Patry had collected digital coins he would lend to his
buddies. Patry offered to share 20,000 digital dollars with Kuhn one
day. Kuhn refused to return Patry’s money, leaving him furious and
determined to kill him.
Kuhn was brutally bit by a tool’s sharp edge. After investigating further,
the police discovered that the killer was none other than Daniel Patry, a
16-year-old nemesis of the 16-year-old victim.
Patry’s main motive for murdering Gabriel Kuhn was money owed to
him by Kuhn. There are also other theories. Patry’s mental instability
may have caused Kuhn’s death. According to others, Patry may have
planned to kill Kuhn to obtain the digital coins.
A tragic incident in Brazil in 2007 resulted in Daniel Patry being accused
of murdering Gabriel Kuhn and Daniel Perry. It was deemed a minor
because he was only 16 years old. A three-year prison sentence was
imposed on him. His release allowed him to continue. In the future,
Daniel Patry will become a cult figure who murdered his friend for Tibia
coins, despite being free and having a family.
GABRIEL KUHN AND
DANIEL PETRY CASE
8. In July 1965, Lester and Betty Likens, traveling fair
concessionaires, left two of their children, Sylvia Marie, 16, and
Jenny Fay, 15, as boarders in the home of Gertrude Baniszewski
(alias Gertrude Wright), 37, a divorced mother of seven. On
October 26, 1965, police called to the East New York Street house
discovered Sylvia’s battered body.
Likens was lying on a soiled mattress on the floor of an empty
upstairs bedroom. Her body was covered with cuts, severe
bruises, and a variety of open sores—some from over 100
cigarette burns, peeling scald marks, and missing skin. She had
two black eyes, shredded lips, and fingernails broken backward.
Further, Likens’ body showed evidence of malnutrition. A “3”
was branded on her chest, and the words “I am a prostitute and
proud of it” were etched into her stomach. The official cause of
death was a subdural hematoma from a blow to the temple, but
shock and extensive injuries contributed to her death.
Jenny Likens approached the investigating officers and offered to
make a statement, provided she was immediately removed from
the home.
Over the next several days, police
took the entire Baniszewski family
and eight neighborhood children
into custody. Anna Cisco, 13,
Michael Monroe, 11, Randy
Lepper, 11, and Judy Duke, 12,
were charged with injury to a
person. All would later be
released under subpoena as state
witnesses. Baniszewski’s youngest
children Marie, 11, Shirley, 10,
James, 8, and Dennis Wright Jr., 1,
were placed in separate foster
homes.
In December 1965, a grand jury
indicted Gertrude Baniszewski,
her daughters Paula, 17, and
Stephanie, 15, and her son John
Jr., 12, and two neighbors, Coy
Hubbard and Richard Hobbs, both
15, on charges of first-degree
murder.
The highly publicized April 1966 murder trial drew
national attention. The testimony revealed that
Gertrude Baniszewski had supervised and assisted
her own and other neighborhood children in the
daily torture of Likens. Sylvia Likens spent the last
weeks of her life shut in the basement of the house
without access to food or water. Neighbors who
were aware of Likens’ condition in the Baniszewski
household had not interfered.
Gertrude Baniszewski pleaded not guilty by
reason of insanity. She was found guilty of first-
degree murder and sentenced to life
imprisonment. The judgment was reversed on
appeal in 1970, and a new trial was ordered
with a change of venue. The 1971 retrial again
found her guilty of first-degree murder. In 1985,
she was granted parole, despite a public
petition protest that raised over 40,000
signatures
Paula Baniszewski was found guilty of second-
degree murder and was sentenced to life
imprisonment.
Stephanie Baniszewski, who voluntarily testified
for the state, was granted a separate trial, found
not guilty, and released. Coy Hubbard, Richard
Hobbs, and John Baniszewski Jr. were all
convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 2
to 21 years.
Sylvia Likens Murder Case
9. May of 1999, a 14-year-old girl made her way
to a Hong Kong police station. She told officers
that for the past several weeks, she’d been
constantly plagued by the ghost of a woman
who had been bound by electrical wire and
tortured to death. The police brushed her off,
dismissing her claims as nothing but dreams or
teenage nonsense.
Their interest was piqued, however, when she
explained that the ghost was of a woman she’d
had a hand in murdering. Following the child
back to a flat in the city’s rundown Kowloon
district, they discovered that the girl’s dreams
were in fact very real nightmares. Inside the
flat, they found an oversized Hello Kitty doll
with the decapitated skull of a woman inside
it.
The case became known as the Hello Kitty
Murder, and was regarded throughout Hong
Kong as one of the most depraved crimes in
memory.
After a month of torture, Ah Fong discovered that Fan Man-yee had died overnight. Chan Man-lok
and his henchmen argued that she had died from an overdose of methamphetamine that she had
administered herself, though most experts speculate it was her injuries that eventually killed her.
They only speculate because there’s no way to know for sure. After discovering she was dead, the
henchmen moved Man-yee’s body to the apartment’s bathtub and dismembered her with a saw.
Then, they cooked the individual pieces of her body to stop her from decomposing and emitting
the smell of rotting flesh.
Using boiling water on the same stove on which they were cooking dinner, the killers boiled the
pieces of her body and disposed of them with the household’s garbage.
Her head, however, they saved. After boiling it on the stove (and allegedly using the same kitchen
utensils to stir their meals that they did to move her head around) they sewed her boiled skull into
an oversized Hello Kitty mermaid doll. Additionally, they kept one of Fan Man-yee’s teeth and
several internal organs which they stored in a plastic bag.
The Hello Kitty Murder Victim, Fan Man Yee
Fan Man-yee’s life was tragic even before she was decapitated and
her head stuffed inside a doll.
After being abandoned by her family as a child, she was raised in a
girl’s home. By the time she was a teenager, she had developed a
drug addiction and was turning to prostitution to pay for her habit.
By 23, she had secured a job as a hostess at a nightclub, though she
was still battling addiction.
