3. Film Title Analysis
• We feel that we have ended up with a good title
name and one that fits in well with the
psychological horror genre and the theme of
someone or something resurrecting itself from
the dead to haunt another. The inclusion of the
ellipses at the end of the title also benefits our
film title as it connotes at what is yet to happen
and fills the audience with uncertainty and
unease, leaving a striking thought in the back of
their minds that they could well be next.
4. • As we researched the psychological horror
genre and the different narratives that this
genre entails, we have decided to have a
look at the different shots used during the
films. We have taken some of the simple
shots used in the preliminary task and
have shown how we have incorporated
them into our final production,
highlighting the comparison to represent
how we have developed these shots and
how far we have come since then.
6. Long Shot Analysis
• Here you can see the long shot from our final
production and you can see that the theme of
horror is clearly trying to be interpreted, while
when we did the preliminary task there was
no real angle that we were trying to achieve in
terms of the conventions of the shot. In other
words because it was just the preliminary task
we took the most basic long shots possible.
8. Medium Shot Analysis
• Here is our example of a medium shot from
our final task. As you can see by the stage of
our final production we had really grasped the
skills required in taking medium shots, as in
this one we wanted to give away very little
emotion at all to maintain an overwhelming
sense of mystery. We encapsulated that well
here, showing our progression from the
preliminary task.
10. Zooming Shot Analysis
• We used both zooming shots in our
preliminary task and our final production. By
the time of our final production however, we
had mastered the ability to zoom in and out of
a shot with great stability and effect. This
helped in particular with this shot as we used
the zoom to signify the importance of the
door handles within our production.
12. Close Up Analysis
• This final shot shows how confident and
comfortable we were with the usage of close-
ups as time had gone on because we just got
so used to using them throughout our
production and I think this is why we chose to
use so many in our production. By this stage
we had branched into using extreme close ups
and this one of the water going down the
plughole was inspired by the famous movie
‘Psycho’.
13. Conclusion
• Overall, we are now extremely confident with the
using of the camera equipment, as well as the
editing in order to represent the psychological
horror. It has enabled us to create our film to its
best possible standard of reality and
conventionalism, to convey the horror genre to
the best of our ability. The planning of the shots
and the storyboarding beforehand really helped
us to map out the techniques that we wanted to
incorporate into our production and really added
to how effectively we have managed to express
the genre as a whole.
