1. Bombay Bicycle club is an English indie rock band from London. The band were given an
opening slot on 2006’s V Festival after winning a competition. After releasing two EP’s and
and their first debut single, they released their first album called ‘I had the blues but I
shook them loose.’ Their logo is located on the bottom middle of this slide. It is a very
simplistic design but is also very effective. Bombay Bicycle Club have played at many
concerts and festivals such as Citadel, Glastonbury and Coachella. Bombay Bicycle Club
have four albums. They brand their website using graphics found in the bottom right of
the slide. The album artwork is also made graphically and looks very hipster styled and
unique. Their graphic found in the bottom right is used to advertise and brand their
newest album ‘So long, See You Tomorrow.’ At the end of 2008 Bombay Bicycle Club
signed a deal with Island Records to release future singles and albums with the record
label.
2. Fleet Foxes
Fleet Foxes is an American Indie Folk band that was formed in Seattle in Washington.
The band became more popular after the release of their second EP in 2008 .Originally
going by the name "The Pineapples", a name clash with another local band prompted
a change and the lead singer, Robin Pecknold, decided upon "Fleet Foxes", suggesting
that it was "evocative of some weird English activity like fox hunting" Their logo is very
plain and simple they use an archaic font to display the name of their band All the
bands I have looked at, indie/alternative, have very plain and simple fonts for their
logos. Branding for indie and alternative bands seems to be very simplistic in general
but seems to be very effective as all of these bands are quite popular.
3. The 1975
The 1975 is an indie rock band that was formed in Manchester. This band typically
brands themselves with neon lights surrounding a rectangle that says ‘The 1975’ in their
own typography in the middle of the rectangle.. On 31 May 2015, the band published
on their social channels a comic strip that left a cryptic message. The band deleted their
social media accounts on 1 June. The following day, 2 June, the band re-activated all
their accounts and set their profile photos to large pink squares and then hours later,
replaced the squares with pink, neon versions of the band's logo ( Seen at the bottom
of the slide) On 3 June, the band revealed a new comic strip announcing that the act
will be touring in November 2015. In regards to their second album, the announcement
also mentioned "you've known the title all along"
