Associate Biography
FION YAU
Fion Yau serves as an associate in the firm’s Hong Kong office. She joined DHR International in July
2009 to provide research and execution support to the consultants in Consumer, Retail, Life
Science, Advanced Technology, Legal and Professional Services practice groups in Asia. Fion has
helped Fortune 500, private and publicly listed corporation clients to identify and recruit top-
notched talents in a broad range of functions from Chief Executive, CFO, Country Manager,
Business Head in Sales, Finance, Legal and Human Resources Divisions. She manages client and
candidate communications from kick-off meeting, interviews, shortlists, offer acceptance to after
closure follow up. Although she is based in Hong Kong, Fion assists in region-wide searches across
the region, including South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and China.
Prior to joining DHR International, Fion was Managing Associate with Futurestep, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Korn/Ferry International. She focused on mid-level management retained
assignments in the Finance and Accounting sector in Greater China. She also conducted searches
for Sales and Human Resources managerial positions for multinational corporations and regional
conglomerates. She started her career in recruitment with a boutique executive search firm
recruiting auditing and accounting professionals for mid-level positions in the Financial Services
and the Hong Kong listed blue chip companies.
Following her graduation, Ms. Yau worked for Deloitte as an Auditor before moving into a Sales &
Marketing role in Messe Frankfurt for Apparel and Textile Trade Fairs organized in Germany and
China. While studying for her MA, she gained visitor services and research experience at the Hong
Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council.
Ms. Yau received a Bachelor of Arts in Financial Administration degree from the University of New
England in New South Wales, Australia, and later graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University with a Master of Arts in English for the Professions with a Distinction. She speaks fluent
English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Ms. Yau also gained experience in Nonprofit through her volunteer work in a few international
charitable organizations in New York and Hong Kong as well as her studies of Fundraising and
Corporate Social Responsibility some years ago.
