1. Markets snap 4-day winning streak; Nifty holds 7250

Tracking negative global cues, Indian indices opened in red and thereafter could not recover throughout the day
despite several bounce back efforts. Profit booking at higher levels persisted even though the National Council of
Applied Economic Research (NCAER), in its latest report, indicated for improvement in business confidence in last
quarter of 2013-14. Both the key indices ended 0.3% down with Nifty managing to close above psychological 7250.
On sectorial front, Capital Goods counter dragged markets whereas Realty continued to stood tall. Counters from IT
sector are back in reckoning as INR depreciated for second straight day. As per RBI reference rates, INR stood at
58.77/USD.
On global front, US indices closed in red on speculations that Fed may hike rates sooner than later. Weak corporate
earnings also weighed on sentiments. Tracking leads from US, Asian indices traded mixed. Japanese Nikkei 225
closed 0.24% down whereas Chinese Shanghai Composite ended 0.83% up. The Bank of Japan kept status quo on
key policy rate. European indices were trading mostly in red.
Back home, on stock specific front, shares of J Kumar Infraprojects hit a new 52 week high of Rs 283.70 before closing
11.5% up at Rs 266.90 after the reports of company winning orders worth Rs 467.5 crore from various authorities.
SKS Microfinance hit a new 52 week high at Rs 288.45 before closing 9.5% up at Rs 281.75 amid news reports that
the company has set a floor price of Rs 235.06 for its QIP issue to raise around Rs 400 crore.
Crompton Greaves plunged 2.3% at Rs 186.70 despite winning an order worth 4 million euro from Comptoir Algerien
du Materiel Electrique et Gazier (CAMEG) for installation of high-end transformers.
Gati Limited hit a new 52 week high of Rs 103.75 before closing 2.65% up at 98.60 after a unit of Australia based
Macquarie Bank has acquired over 1% stake in the company for Rs 10 crore through open market purchase.
SJVN Ltd hit a new 52 week high at Rs 26.60 before closing 3% up at 26.40 after reports of the company
commissioning 47.6 MW Khirvere Wind Power Project comprising of total 56 Wind Energy Generators (WEG) each
having capacity of 850 KW.
Key Quarterly Results
Essar Oil hit a new 52 week high at Rs 92.15 before ending at 89.5 (15.3% up) on reporting robust Q4 numbers. The
company posted a five-fold growth in its Q4FY14 Net Profit at Rs. 1008 crore versus Q4FY13 Net Profit of Rs 200
crore.
Mangalore Refinery and Petro Chemical Ltd hit a new 52 week high at Rs 80.65 before ending at 75.25 (11.15% up)
on reporting robust Q4 numbers. The company posted a Net Profit of Rs 1067.04 crore for Q4FY14 versus a Net Loss
of Rs 61.9 crore for same period a year earlier.
Punj Lloyd closed 7% down on posting a consolidated Net Loss of Rs 382 crore for Q4FY14 versus a profit of Rs 15
crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Welspun India recorded a 64% rise in its Q4FY14 Net profit at Rs 103.5 crore versus a Profit of Rs 63.2 crore in the
same quarter a year earlier. The shares of the company ended marginally in red.
NIIT Ltd hit a new 52 week high at Rs 41.55 before ending at 41 (15.7% up) on reporting stellar numbers. The
company recorded five-fold jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 14 crore for Q4FY14 as against 2.7 crore in Q4FY13.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 2169 and 944 respectively,
while 112 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 24298.02, down 78.86 points or 0.32%. The 30 share index touched a high and a
low of 24419.54 and 24156.47 respectively. 9 stocks advanced against 21 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty lost 22.60 points or 0.31% to settle at 7252.90. The index touched high and low of 7287.15 and
7206.70 respectively. 17 stocks advanced against 33 declining ones on the index.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
2. The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 8342.36 and gained 1.34% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
1.84% to 8758.28.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 9191.92 (up 0.06%) and CNX 500 index rose to 5792.30 (up 0.02%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 6.86% at 17.91 from its previous close of 19.23 on Tuesday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Real Estate (up 1.90%), Information Technology (up 0.79%) and FMCG (up 0.64%) were
the top gainers.
Capital Goods (down 1.63%), Banks (down 1.07%) and Consumer Durables (down 0.42%) were the top losers.
The Angels and the Devils
Bajaj Auto Ltd (up 4.69%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.54%), NTPC Ltd (up 2.21%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd (up 1.51%) and
Coal India Ltd (up 1.49%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
State Bank of India (down 2.61%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (down 2.39%), Axis Bank (down 2.18%), Larsen And
Toubro Ltd (down 2.11%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.03%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

Larsen And Toubro Ltd (-30.87 points), State Bank of India (-25.70 points), Infosys Ltd (17.89 points), Axis Bank (-
15.45 points) and Bajaj Auto Ltd (14.74 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.
On the other end Larsen And Toubro Ltd (-8.33 points), State Bank of India (-6.79 points), Infosys Ltd (5.11 points),
