1. Markets stretch record making streak; Nifty misses 7900

Tracking the jubilation in global peers, Indian indices made a gap up start with Nifty above 7900 mark. After paring a
part of the initial gains, markets continued to trade firm on continued foreign inflows. Benchmarks ended at record
closing high with Nifty missing 7900 by a whisker. On BSE sectorial front, Auto index topped the charts.
Among the global peers, US markets rocked the show with Nasdaq closing at 14-year high levels on the back of
easing tensions in Ukraine. Asian and European indices too climbed higher on positive handover from Wall-Street.
Back home, on currency front, Rupee stretched its northward journey against Dollar for second straight day aided by
record hitting local equities.
On macro-economic turf, India’s textile sector witnessed a whooping growth of 91.41% in foreign direct investment
during April-March 2013-14. The country attracted $198.86 million foreign inflows in textile sector during the period as
compared to $103.89 million during the same period previous year.
On stock specific front, Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) gained 4.9% on BSE as the company is
reportedly aiming to cut down its debt by 25% to Rs 2300 crore from around Rs 2900 crore by March 2015.
Welspun Enterprises spurted 5% on BSE on entering into a definitive agreement with JSW Steel (0.7% up) to sell
Welspun Maxsteel (WMSL) for an enterprise value of Rs 1000 crore plus net current assets as on August 31, 2014.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1795 and 1314 respectively,
while 118 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 26420.67, up 29.71 points or 0.11%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of
26530.67 and 26387.84 respectively. 19 stocks advanced against 11 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 23.25 points or 0.30% to settle at 7897.50. The index touched high and low of 7918.55 and
7881.15 respectively. 38 stocks advanced against 12 declining ones on the index.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 9270.86 and gained 1.10% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
1.21% to 10168.80.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 10042.31 (up 0.56%) and CNX 500 index rose to 6328.80 (up 0.55%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 3.04% at 13.91 from its previous close of 13.50 on Monday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Automobile (up 2.25%), Real Estate (up 1.63%) and Power (up 1.25%) were the top
gainers.
Information Technology (down 0.57%) was the top loser.
The Angels and the Devils
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (up 3.67%), Tata Motors Ltd (up 2.95%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 2.80%), Bajaj
Auto Ltd (up 2.46%) and Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd (up 1.85%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (down 2.48%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (down 1.93%), HDFC
Bank (down 0.98%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.80%) and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (down 0.76%) were the top
losers on the Sensex.

Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (-47.16 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-32.50 points), Tata
Motors Ltd (30.38 points), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (25.82 points) and HDFC Bank (-18.05 points) were the major
Sensex drivers today.

2. On the other end Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (-11.87 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-8.37
points), Tata Motors Ltd (7.76 points), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (6.44 points) and HDFC Bank (-4.75 points) were
the major Nifty movers today.
Pivot, Supports and Resistance Levels
CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 7899 for next session. The next support is at 7880 and on upside it has a resistance at
7917 levels.
