1. What do lines mean?
Five basic types of lines:
Vertical - Horizontal - Diagonal - Curved - Zigzag
Vertical - static, which means that they are inactive. They appear to be at rest and
express stability, dignity, poise, stiffness or formality.
Horizontal - also static. They often express feelings of peace, rest, quiet, and stability
as well as being comfortable, relaxed and calm.
Diagonal - Active, giving the feeling of action and movement, seeming to be pulled one
way or the other, not at rest.
Curved - Changing directions, active depending on the curve of the line. The less
active the curve the calmer the feeling. All curved lines are graceful.
Zigzag - Extremely active, create confusion, express feeling of excitement.
