Observation Lab

I spent less than 15 minutes in some stores because I didn´t
feel confortable observing those places. Since the shopping
center that I visited was empty in that occasion, and so
some stores, I was the only custumer in the stores.
The shopping center
I visited 5 stores at the same shopping center, and one gas station out of
that. Some points are the same for the strores in this place, and I put some
   of them above:

• Those places seems to be security because of the security guard that work
  for the shopping mall.
• The shopping center was cold, and so the stores. This estimulate
  people to try on clothes.
• All the doors were open, and I think this is a invitation for costumers to
  enter.
The shoe store

                             • This shoe store was “on
                             sale”, and there isn’t any
                                folder informing this!

                             • The products were
                             arranged by size, so
                             the costumer can
                             pick up them and try

                             on, easier.
The clothes store

                                       • The sing lettering is simple and
                                         small. Since it doesn’t call
                                         atention, it representes a
                                         classical/tradition store.

http://diamondmall.com.br/
There is no logical in the distribution of the products. I coudn’t
identify how they are arrangded. For example, as soon as
custumers enter in the store, they foud bluses on sale mixted with
 exclusive clothes.

I conclude thah the price wasn’t a important point for the
 custumers.
The drugstore
                                     • In this case, the cash register was
located near by the door, and there are
                                       magazines, candys, chocolate near the
                                       cash register that many people
                                       purchase.

                                     • There is no salesperson that come to
initiate contact. The client has to do it.
        http://diamondmall.com.br/
                                     • All the produtcs were below the eye
                                       level.
• This is a drugstore, but the medicines were the most difficult product
to catch, and most costumers don’t buy this products.
The supermarket

                             http://diamondmall.com.br/

• Products on sale are at strategic points in the middle of de
store, and have large folders with the price
• There are sellers from every sector of the supermarket. This
    is not commom in Brazil.
The restaurant

          • A special point in
            Applebee’s is
            customer service!
            The waiters have
            good training.
          • This is the place
            that I want to
            spend more time!
The gas station – out of mall
• The salespearson have the same script to follow, and always
offering expensive products, and stimulate custumers to buy
  things in the convenience store.

• The price of those fuels was in a big size and high to be easy
  to see.

• There is a police post near the gas station but customers
  didn’t feel security there.
