The essence of faithful sacrifice in dying daily
1. Topic:
The
essence
of
faithful
sacrifice
in
dying
daily
Text:
If
any
man
will
come
unto
me
let
him
deny
himself
take
up
his
cross
daily
and
follow
me.
-‐Luke
9:23
These
were
the
words
of
Jesus
when
He
was
with
His
disciples.
He
made
them
understand
that
in
order
to
follow
Him
they
must:
1-‐ Deny
themselves
2-‐ Take
up
their
cross
daily
As
born
again
believers,
we
are
exhorted
also
by
Paul
the
apostle
in
Colossians
3:5,
to
mortify
our
members
which
are
on
earth.
It
is
important
to
do
this:
1-‐ To
be
totally
submissive
and
obedient
to
the
will
of
God
and
to
follow
Jesus
Christ
effectively
and
faithfully,
the
flesh
sometimes
needs
to
be
put
to
death.
One
way
to
do
this
is
to
deny
it
of
its
desires
or
wants
which
are
contrary
to
God’s
will.
Until
our
self
(flesh)
dies,
we
will
not
be
able
to
daily
endure
tribulations,
persecutions,
trials
or
temptations
that
come
with
following
Christ.
2-‐ So
our
lives
can
be
hidden
with
Christ
(Col
3:3).
Until
we
put
to
death
our
flesh,
our
spirit
man
would
not
find
the
freedom
it
totally
needs.
Crucifying
our
flesh
will
enable
us
to
know
that
we
are
also
spirit
beings
whose
lives
are
hidden
with
Christ.
“Except
a
corn
wheat
falls
to
the
ground
and
die,
it
abideth
alone…”
If
we
are
dead
to
flesh
and
abide
in
Christ
then
we
can
ask
anything
and
it
will
be
done
including
greater
works
as
the
Bible
says
in
John
15:7.
3-‐ Denying
ourselves
of
its
desires,
a
form
of
dying
daily
to
the
flesh,
will
also
enable
us
to
fellowship
appropriately
with
one
another,
and
love
ourselves
the
way
we
ought
to.
This
means
that
when
we
come
to
fellowship
even
when
we
are
not
emotionally
motivated
to
do
so,
we
will
still
praise
God
during
praise
worship
sessions,
share,
give
to
the
work
of
God,
and
utilize
our
gifts
and
potentials
for
the
glory
of
the
Lord.
4-‐ We
shall
appear
with
Christ
in
glory
(Col
3:4).
When
we
die
to
flesh,
we
shall
appear
with
Christ
in
glory
because
if
we
partake
in
the
fellowship
of
his
suffering
then
we
will
also
know
the
power
(glory)
of
his
resurrection
and
we
will
also
partake
in
what
God
has
in
stock
for
us
as
believers
(1
Cor
2:9).
The
glory
can
also
be
seen
even
in
our
daily
lives.
The
glory
of
God
manifested
in
the
lives
of
those
living
in
the
spirit
(sons
of
God).
This
glory
seen
will
also
cause
men
to
know
God
and
give
him
all
the
glory.
Note
that
the
flesh
never
gets
satisfied,
the
more
we
feed
it,
the
more
it
requires
and
we
become
more
carnal
and
this
will
eventually
lead
to
death.
Why
not
kill
your
flesh
today
before
it
kills
you
first.
