2. Shot type/angle/ distance Macro,
Flash and Lighting
Medium shot/ Low angle
This shot will be taken inside
so I will be using the flash
from my camera so that the
model is clearly visible.
Because I am using flash I will
make sure I’m standing at
least 5 feet away this will
allow me to get a clear and
effective shot.
Background
Positioning on front cover/TOC
Details of editing
The background for this
photograph is white back drop.
The reason I have chosen a white
back drop is because when it
comes to editing the photo it will
be much easier if I capture the
model on a white backdrop. The
while background will also allow
the focus to be on the model and
only the model.
The position I will place image on the
front cover of the magazine is in the
centre and slightly to the right. I have
chosen it to be placed this way so that
the focus is still on the model but there
is enough space for the left third.
I plan to edit the image on
photoshop using the magic wand
tool which will help me erase the
background neatly.
Medium shot/ Low angle
This shot will be taken
inside however I still want to
flash so that the model looks
illuminate and the clear focal
point of the magazine. The
lighting and flash should
help create/emphasise that
edgy, rock feel to my
magazine.
I would like a plain background
for this shot as I do not want to
remove any focus away from the
model. Therefore using a plain
background will help create a
focal point. I would also want the
background to contrast with the
models outfit as it will emphasise
the rock nature of the magazine.
The image will be placed in the
centre of the magazine which should
help create a central point to my
magazine. By placing my magazine
in the centre it would allows my
magazine to follow the form of real
media.
If the flash does not work the way I
first intended it to go them I will
have to brighten up the photo on
PhotoShop so that the picture
looks professional and neat.
Medium shot/ Low angle
This shot will be taken with
natural lighting but if the
lighting is poor then I will
use flash. I’ll make sure that
I am positioned at least 5
feet away. This is so that I
will be able to get a clear
photo and making sure that
the that image is not wash
out by the flash
The shot will be taken behind a
gate so that the image will look
as if the model is behind bars.
This should hopefully emphasise
the rock, grunge nature of the
magazine. It will also show the
magazines hard, rebellious edge
hopefully enticing the young
readers.
The picture will be the main image
and it will appeal to the target
audience as it is enticing them to
purchase the magazine. But the
rebellious edge of my magazine
should also encourage new readers.
I’d make sure that the area is
clear of any mess and
unnecessary objects. If there is
any dirt on the bars then I shall use
my Photoshop editing techniques
to clear that away and make the
image look as neat as possible.
