1. Need for ‘Ethical Technologists’
[Part 1 of 2]
A war can be waged (or invited) against (or from) nations, so
can it be against or from organizations, or individuals. The
basis or intention for a war could be ethical or unethical, so
can be the basis or intention for creation and use of a
technology. When the basis or intention is unethical, the
hands of such technology stakeholders (investors, sponsors,
creators, and promoters) can be seen as stained with the sweat
or blood of the victims; academia, research/industry
professionals, and user community involved with such
technologies can be seen as staining their hands with the same
sweat or blood, though, to varying degrees. “All the perfumes
of Arabia will not sweeten such hands.”
Peace, to sustain and to thrive, needs to be rooted in strength
and needs to be based on ethics. At the heart of the matter,
ethics revolves around life supportive words, and deeds. War
or peace decisions need to be guided by life supportive
thoughts, so need be the decisions to create and use
technologies. What about the war within? Again, it is only by
being ethical that one can win the war within and attain

2. lasting Peace. The seed for an external war lies within and
Yoga enables one to progress from inner war towards inner
peace, with a potential to attain peace and harmony in the
society when practiced collectively. Yoga helps one
appreciate the fact that a war waged today can translate into
war invited for a later date and encourages one to be cautious.
