Altos De Los Mores Reflection
What happens in a moment, can change the course of an entire lifetime. Such can be said for the
brave and compassionate students of Saint Brother Andre High School.
During the festive holiday season, when so many of us were resting at home with our families, or
out partying with friends, 24 students broke tradition and decided to go to Peru.
While some wished to learn something greater from the trip or to just get away from the busyness of
daily life, they all had the same goal in mind, to perform charitable work.
Determined to make a difference with their short time there, they rose to the challenge and dug deep
within themselves.
Although their task list was long, the students recount each job as a fond and fulfilling memory, as
seen on the personal accounts they wrote for their mission trip blogs. Supported by the organization
AYNI, they helped the community of Altos de los Mores, in Peru, by planting Neem trees,
sponsoring post–secondary students with their education, providing money to pay for medicine,
assisting with teaching English to the children, and other charitable deeds.
Once in Piura, a city 40 minutes away from Altos, their mission began. Starting on the 27th of
December till January the 6th they dedicated their time to volunteer work and the peruvian ... Show

Trying to get back into the quickly paced and pessimistic lives we lead here, was much more
difficult, than it was to transition to the peaceful lifestyle in Altos. They no longer felt a need to use
their water, heat or electricity supply as excessively. Individuals even said their perception of self
had shifted as the children and people of Altos made them see their own desirable traits, they had
never seen before. However, they found that the strongest imprint made on the trip, were those made
by the young students. The effect they left, rewrote their appreciation for the gift of life. They were

Neem Gum: A Case Study
PAH is a disease of the arteries which is not common. It is estimated that there are about 52 cases
per million and the mortality rate is not > 15%. However the increase in arterial pressures and higher
vascular resistances can lead to dysfunction of the heart. Life expectancy could get reduced and
survival rate of 2.8 years has been reported. Amongst the various drugs chosen for treatment of
PAH, sildenafil citrate has been successfully used and is a recently introduced drug with promising
potential. SC is a selective inhibitor of cGMP specific type 5 phosphodiasterase. The use of SC has
been effective to reduce the pulmonary vascular resistance when administered directly or in
combination of inhaled prostacyclin. The drug needs to be inhaled and continuously infused which
could cause site pain and reactions, thereby reducing patient compliances, has a short half life and
inhalation also needs to prepare the drug in inhalers which increase the cost of drug. A long term
approach of SC therapy administered orally can be considered as a safe and effective method, with

Orange Oil Research Paper
If you have a wooden fence around your property, chances are you will deal with a termite
infestation at one point or another. While liquid termiticide treatments do the trick, these products
contain harmful chemicals that are unhealthy to breathe in and that are bad for the environment.
Instead, try these two all natural ways to get rid of the termites that are eating away at your fence:
Orange Oil
Orange oil contains an active ingredient called D–Limonene. D–Limonene is an all natural
insecticide. When termites come in contact with this active ingredient, it immediately poisons them
and destroys all of their cell membranes. When this occurs, the termite essentially loses all its water
and protein. In turn, the termite dies.
In order to use this all natural insecticide, you will first need to put on a pair of protective gloves and
prepare the orange oil. Simply take a spray bottle and add an entire bottle of orange oil into the
spray bottle. Because you want the application to be effective and potent, you needn't worry about
adding water to the mix. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hole should be deep enough so that it reaches the population of termites within the wood. Once
you have drilled your first hole, take the spray bottle and aim the nozzle into the hole.
Begin to spray the orange oil into the small opening. Continue to spray until the opening is
drenched. Next, you will want to drill another small hole on the next post of the fence that is
affected by termites. Repeat the spraying process. Continue to do this for all posts that are affected.
In time, you will begin to notice that the termites have fallen out of the holes you have drilled. They
will be dead at this point. To dispose of them, simply put on a pair or protective plastic gloves,
scoop them up, and place them in a garbage bag. You also may choose to repair the damage from the

Toothpaste Modern Toothpaste
Toothpaste is a paste or gel dentifrice used to clean and maintain the aesthetics and health of teeth.
Toothpaste use can promote good oral hygiene: it can aid in the removal of dental plaque and food
from the teeth, it can aid in the elimination and/or masking of halitosis, and it can deliver active
ingredients such as fluoride or xylitol to prevent tooth and gum disease (gingivitis). In most or all
developed countries, usage after each meal is encouraged. Most toothpaste contains chemicals
which are toxic when ingested, and is not intended to be swallowed.

Sodium fluoride (NaF) is the most common form; some brands use sodium monofluorophosphate
(Na2PO3F). Much of the toothpaste sold in the United States has 1000 to 1100 parts per million
fluoride ion from one of these active ingredients, in the UK the fluoride content is often higher, a
NaF of 0.32% w/w (1,450 ppm fluoride) is not uncommon. This consistency leads some to conclude
that cheap toothpaste is just as good as expensive toothpaste. When the magazine Consumer Reports
rated toothpastes in 1998, 30 of the 38 were judged excellent. Application of fluoride also prevents
moisture build–up in some surfaces.[citation needed]
Other ingredients are less commonly used, including Hydroxyapatite nanocrystals and calcium
phosphate for remineralization,[6] and strontium chloride or potassium nitrate to reduce sensitivity.
[edit] Other ingredients
In addition to fluoride, the other fundamental ingredient in most toothpastes is an abrasive.[citation
needed] Studies have shown that abrasives in toothpaste reduce the time needed to remove plaque
from the teeth by approximately 50%. Abrasives, like the dental polishing agents used in dentist's
offices, also cause a small amount of enamel erosion which is termed "polishing" action. Some
brands contain powdered white mica which acts as a mild abrasive, and also adds a cosmetically–
pleasing glittery shimmer to the paste. Many may contain frustules of dead

Individualist Fallacy Analysis
For my journal entry I choose to read Online Higher Education's Individualist Fallacy by Johann N.
Neem. Johann Neem is a professor of history at Western Washington University and argues that
there is a value in "Institutional culture" for the student that attends traditional classes on a college
campus. According to Neem, institutional culture is important because learning is a social
experience and depends on relationships since under the guidance of a professor a student will
prosper, and be inspired by the energy in the classroom setting. Neem also states that professors are
able to adapt easily to the needs of the students that are present in the classroom versus those who
attend online. Neem, contends that distance learning undercuts institutional learning due to the fact
that students are not fully engaged with their professors and can miss out ... Show more content on

Neem states that there is an "individualist fallacy" in connection with the "online revolution"
meaning that people do not have an understanding of how students learn, professors teach, nor do
they understand what makes a great teacher or scholar. Neem's views on Individualist fallacy is
developed by his convictions about traditional college and the benefits that result from the college
community, culture, and networking. Because he values social interactions as they pertain to higher
education he cannot appreciate that one may benefit equally from the curriculum on their own as an
individual as they would in a social classroom

agents for Oreochromis niloticus. This experiment was divided into three consecutive periods; the
first period was the treating period with dietary 17α–MT, PSP, and NLP, for 71 days. Then, the
second period for rearing the obtained fingerlings till the adult stage for 190 days. While, the third
period was conducted for 90 days for spawning the mature treated fish. The treatments were (T1)
hormone untreated mixed–sex fry (control); (T2) fry treated with 60 mg 17α–MT / kg diet for 28
days; (T3) fry treated with 6 g PSP / kg diet for 45 days and (T4) 1 g NLP / kg diet for 60 days. In
treating period, results revealed that differences in all growth performance parameters and FCR
among all treatments were not significant. In rearing period, results showed that fish treated with
17α–MT gave the highest significant (P ≤ 0.05) values of growth performance, highest male
percentage and economic efficiency followed by PSP, then NLP compared to the mixed–sex group.

What Is Bad For School Is Wrong Essay
Have you ever been told by a teacher, "That's the right answer but it's wrong because that's not how
I showed you". If you're like me, it happened all the time. The idea that every student is the same
and has to do everything the same is ridiculous. Every student has a different style of learning and in
many cases teachers ignore that fact. In my experience it happen most of all in my math classes. My
teachers would teach one way and I just wouldn't absorb the material. I would ask for help, stay after
class, and even stay after school for help but it just wouldn't click. It seemed no matter what I did I
would still pass the class skin on my teeth. At that point I thought it was my fault and that I was just
never going to be good enough. I came across this problem mostly in math classes. Up until my
junior year I hated math with a passion, and now it's my major. The switch filled ... Show more

In his essay, "School is Bad For Children", John Holt, addresses this issue when he states, " In a
great many other ways he learns that he is worthless, untrustworthy, fit only to take other people's
orders, a blank sheet for other people to write on...What counts here is what we know, what we think
is important, what we want you to do, think and be."(Holt33) The hard truth is that students actually
feel like this. School is supposed to be a place where they can grow and develop their and ideas.
Young adults are formed in high school, with the real world creeping up on students, that is the
place where they first being to become independent and just like every other person out there
students are influenced by those around them and who is around them almost as much as their
parents; teachers have a great impact on the people their students turn out to

Online Higher Education 's Individualist Fallacy Essay
Have you ever wondered what the best college learning method for a working adult is online or
campus? If working adults took online courses they can do their work anywhere there is an internet
connection however they have to ask themselves; would I get the same or better education I could if
I was sitting in a classroom? In a classroom setting they would get the interaction with fellow
classmates and the professor who all come from different places in their lives. If the working adult
had a question or did not understand they would get the results right away, on the other hand, if the
student is learning online they have to wait for their professor. The response time for their email to
be read and returned will not be there when it's fresh in the student's mind. If one is planning on
going to college as a working adult, he or she should consider the value of taking the time and attend
classes on campus. In the article titled "Online Higher Education's Individualist Fallacy" written by
Johann N. Neem was about the "Individualist Fallacy" which is ecological studies and instrumental
variables. Some boosters think the traditional campus is going to be displaced (102). Richard Vedder
believes that campus is only good for "making friends, partying, drinking, and having sex" (103).
While others like Jaron Lanier; a computer scientist, said that "computers exist to support human
endeavors" (104). Bill Gates thinks that in five years the best lectures in the world

Omnivore's Dilemma Explored
Omnivore's Dilemma Explored Outline: Omnivore Dilemma – Pastoral Grass Introduction: A
summary of Omnivore's Dilemma and Pollan's critique of America's industrial food production and
distribution system. Today's world agricultural system is controlled by a few large corporations that
exploit the poor, the small farmers and peasants, and even use slave labor. They also control the
seeds, prices, fertilizers, and even the genome of plants and animals, and this system should become
more democratic and decentralized, with more power for producers and consumers, but it would be
a mistake to regress back to a feudal or prescientific past. Thesis: Michael Pollan overlooks the
many benefits of the current system of food production, which allows us to produce more food on
less land than pre–industrial agriculture. His proposal that the nation switch to a local produce
model is not economically feasible for the United States. 1. Background: Pollan's Position a. The
insufficiency of current alternatives to industrial food production. b. The need for pre–industrial,
locally sourced food production and distribution. 2. Injustices in the current global system of
agriculture, dominated by a handful of giant multinational corporations. a. Western corporations and
trade patent rules are oppressive toward peasant agriculture in developing nations. b. Mahatma

Intestinal Milleu Case Summary
The current state of his intestinal milleu is probably in a pretty acute state of dysbiosis considering
pathogenic growth is fostered by unarrested growth, and added substrate allowing gut permeability
to occur due to the following factors: 1) Pathogenic microbial growth potentiated by decreased HCl
due to PPI and H2 blocker use.6 a. Effects of PPI use i. Suppression of HCl (affect pH of
microenvironment of flora) ii. Target proton pumps of pathogens iii. Decrease bioavailability of
vitamin C 2) Fruits and vegetables provide (FODMAPs) fermentable substrate for predominating
pathogenic microbes,2 while necrotized intestinal tissues provide additional substrate for pathogens;
3) Food sensitivity arises since an existing open intestinal wound (ulcer) allows undigested food
particles to enter the blood stream for antibody complexing with those undigested food particles.3
while necrotizing intestinal continuously increases gut leakiness. ... Show more content on

It is likely that his current condition has been brought on by damage to the intestinal mucosa
possibly due to alcohol consumption and poor diet. Lack of HCl due to PPI and H2 blocker use has
either initiated the state of dysbiosis or has exacerbated it, possibly having caused his symptoms of
chest pains (costochondritis) and duodenal ulcer. Although the sequence of etiology is unclear,
multiple causal factors for SIBO exist. The etiology of his costochondritis could be related to
symptoms of GERD, and perhaps correlated to Hiatal Hernia.1 Alternatively, PPI use has also been
associated with myocardial infarction.4 In either case a differential diagnosis should be done in
order find the root cause of the chest pain.5 Treatment of costochondritis is frequently focused on
quelling pain symptoms with NSAIDs,5 additionally contributing to GERD if he were taking them.
Dysbiosis is a condition correlated to GERD as well as to bacterial overgrowth–related intestinal

Factors Affecting The Demand For Toothbrushes
To assess the factors affecting the demand for toothbrushes in India, a situation analysis has been
performed using the 5Cs framework:
Context: In 2009, India was the world's largest democracy; with a population of 1.16billion growing
at 1.4% per annum, the country suffered from a huge disparity in income with the majority of Indian
population (78%) living in rural areas, and as many as 80% living under $2 per day. The 78% who
lived in rural areas accounted for c. 64% of total expenditures in India. Around 50% of the Indian
population did not have sufficient awareness of dental healthcare, and did not associate dental
problems with improper care but rather to eating habits or genetics; most of these Indians were using
natural remedies as chewing twigs from the Neem tree. Among the remaining population who used
modern dental healthcare or a toothbrush, 77% brushed their teeth less than twice a day
(recommended usage), and out of the 747.1million brushes sold every year, only 8.6% replaced their
brush every 3 months. Cottle–Taylor (CT) enjoyed a large market share in India and focused on
toothbrushes. Given the peculiarities of the market, CT decided to focus on toothbrushes where it
enjoys larger gross margins by virtue of its existing manufacturing infrastructure that has been built
over the years.
Customers: Given the composition of the Indian population described earlier, the customers are
typically price sensitive with not much disposable income. The majority of

Characteristics Of Liberal Democracy In American Political...
Liberal Democracy in American Political Systems
Liberal democracy, also known as 'representative democracy', is a form of government or political
system in which "democracy works on the tenets of liberalism" (Holden, 1993). This system has
been dominant in the Western countries, such as New Zealand, Australia, Britain, Canada and the
United States of America, over the past century or so. Other non–Western countries have also
adopted this system following the collapse of communism in the 1990s. This system seeks to
increase civil liberties by defending them against encroachment by forces of power such as the
government. It also limits the government's influence on moral and economic matters that affect
citizenry (Avril & Neem, 2015).
The main aspect of liberal democracy that makes it unique from other forms of democracy is its
characteristic of distinct representative institutions which express and aggregate the voice of
individual citizens. Such institutions may include elected assemblies or political parties, which make
decisions "on behalf of the citizens". Liberal democracy is conditioned by political liberties e.g.
universal suffrage, free and fair elections, rights to vie for political office and also by constitutional
liberties e.g. freedom of speech, religion, and respect for minorities. As a result this system increases
the scope of political, religious and even intellectual freedoms for the citizens, and thus rules
maximize benefits to the citizen (Avril & Neem,

Epsom Soil Research Paper
Boils are unsightly lumps on the skin that look very much like a large pimple. But they are different
than this other common skin problem because although they are also caused by a hair follicle
becoming infected and inflamed, it is due to the presence of Staphylococcus aureus. This type of
bacteria lies dormant on the skin, and it normally doesn't cause a problem. However, if the skin
develops any lesions, it can quickly invade the area. This is problematic because if the infection isn't
treated properly, it can easily worsen or spread. That is why most people never have just one boil.
Instead, they get a cluster of them called a "carbuncle." Diabetics and people with poorly–
functioning immune systems are more susceptible to carbuncles.
Unfortunately, once someone starts getting boils, it seems to ... Show more content on

This makes draining them or applying any type of medication to them next to impossible. So one
easy way to help treat them is by soaking in a warm bath with two to three cups of Epsom salt added
to it. The salt has natural antiseptic properties that will help kill off the staph infection. But it isn't as
drying to the skin as regular table salt is. In fact, many people say that it makes their skin softer.
Antibiotic Ointment
Over–the–counter antibiotic creams are very helpful for boils that have started to ooze pus or break
down. That is because since they are opened up, the antibiotics can start to reach the inside of them.
For best results, it helps to purchase triple antibiotic cream though, which contains three different
antibiotics that work in conjunction to speed up the wound's healing time. It is very important to
apply the ointment with clean cotton swabs that are not reused. Simply, swab a little ointment across
a boil. Then, through the swab away, and get a new one for any other boils on the skin.

Causes Of Natural Home Remedies For Eczema

attention can help but look at how hooked you can be to drugs with numerous side effects? On the
other side, real natural cures can handle this problem very well unless it is a severe situation that
calls for immediate medical attention. Eczema (dermatitis) is an inflammation of the skin that causes
itching, redness and discomfort. If the eczema is a chronic problem, the skin will continue to itch
and become thick like leather. Usually dry scales develop, and the skin's color may change. Eczema

and tends to disappear when the child grows up. However, it can resurface at a later stage, and can

Abstract:– Bio–Fuel oils are used as alternate substitute to diesel in CI engines with improvement in
engine performance and also reducing harmful exhaust gas emissions. Various blends have been
reported by researches in this area as the optimum, giving higher or comparable engine
performance. Bio–diesel is one of the most promising alternatives for diesel needs. The present
work is focused on the performance of Castor seed oil, Mustard seed oil and Sunflower seed oil and
its blend with diesel on a four cylinder, 4 stroke, naturally aspirated, direct injection, water cooled,
hydraulic dynamometer diesel Engine for variable loads. The physical and chemical properties of
Castor oil, Mustard oil and Sunflower seed oil and its blend were determined. The objective of using
vegetable oil is to convert waste vegetable oil used for domestic purposes such as cooking oil into
biodiesel using an alkali catalyzed transesterification process.
The performance and emission characteristics of engine will be studied using Castor seed oil,
Mustard oil and Sunflower seed oil and their blends with diesel and by analyzing the

emergence or formation.
 Control: Spray Carbaryl (4 ml/litre of water) or Metacid (1ml/litre of water) during the seedling

2) Aphids (Aphis sp.): Aphids attack the plant leaves & suck the leaf sap. This lead to withering &
crinkling of leaves in young stage. In fully grown vines leaves turn yellow.
 Control: Spray Malathion (0.1 %) or Rogor (0.1–0.2%) before the attack becomes severe.
3) Fruit Fly (Dacus cucurbitae and Ducus dorsalis): In bitter gourds fruit fly is the major pest found.
The fly attack is very often when there is high humidity. The adult fly does not directly infect the
fruit instead it lays eggs in the fruits. These eggs give maggots, & these maggots feed from inside
the fruits and causes rotting.

shoots and purslane are also beneficial. You should consume essential fatty acids everyday. Flaxseed
and flaxseed oil are great sources of fatty acids. Add some oil and seeds to your foods and

Entheogens And Synthesis Essay
Entheogens, psychoactive plants used as spiritual sacraments, have been used as tools to facilitate
cosmological understanding in many indigenous cultures. The Indo–Aryan people's use of the
entheogenic substance, soma, was revered, as the ingestion of such was thought to induce greater
understanding and wisdom about the individual and the world. In this ritualized tradition, only the
most spiritually pure individuals were deemed fit for experiencing this heightened state of
consciousness. Examining the portrayal of soma in the Indo–Aryan work, the Rig Veda, and
academic journal articles reflecting on the use of entheogens in religious experiences, one can

While entheogens have been used in spiritual contexts all over the world for thousands of years,
Western science has questioned whether an experience induced by a psychoactive substance can
result in true spiritual understanding. Mystical experiences are, inherently, difficult to empirically
prove, and transcendental states of consciousness and the change in cognitive abilities they produce
are not easy to quantify or replicate. Those best able to compare a contemplative mystical
experience and a psychoactive–induced mystical experience are the individuals who have
participated in both. While there is not a diverse demographic of individuals who have personally
experienced both, various spiritual teachers such as Alan Watts, Richard Alpert, Neem Karolie Baba,
and Stanislav Grof have spoken of the similarities in phenomenological sensations. Similar changes
in neurobiological, sensational, and perceptional differences in the individual with chemical and
natural mysticism result in an inability to distinguish an observational difference between the

Globalization and India's Rising Demand for Foreign Brands: Lessons for Marketers
Globalization
Globalization is an inevitable phenomenon that is leading the entire world towards becoming one
market, a global village. With the world becoming a single market, globalization has had a major
contribution in enabling the organizations worldwide to step out of the restricted domestic markets
and to set up their operations across the globe with confidence. This has largely led to a decline in
the importance in national borders and a greater emphasis on what the consumers actually demand
no matter the consumer is located in the very country in which the organization exists or an entirely
different part of the world. Moreover, with the rapid increase in global competition, companies that
strictly adhere to and cater to the needs of the local markets are finding themselves at a disadvantage
and gradually losing the competitive advantage that they so much strived to achieve. However, for
some products and services the tastes and preferences of consumers in different nations are
beginning to converge on some global norm.

The Jiff Lemon Case
1) Advise Markt whether Markt might be liable to NeemMiracle Ltd in Australia and New Zealand
for launching their neem oil hair care products under the brand name Mira–Neem.
Is Markt at risk and liable to NeemMiracle with respect to Trade Mark infringement, passing off,
misleading or deceptive conduct?
No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons;
a) The mark or 'get up' being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the
word 'neem' may be argued to be descriptive. and
b) NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand.
There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct
under S 18 ACL . An action in passing off deals only with misrepresentation, for an action in passing
off to be successful we can refer to the "classical trinity". In the Jiff Lemon Case Lord Oliver set out
three tests for an action in passing off to be met. 'The "classical trinity" has been used as a
touchstone for passing off. '
It can be argued that the 'getup' of the Mira–Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to
NeemMiracle with respect to choice of colour, font and naming of the product; further argued that
the confusing labelling of the product without any disclaimer may misrepresent the Mira–Neem
product as part of the products currently produced and marketed by NeemMiracle.

Laphet has become the common signature in Burma. No matter as a meal or as a main snack, Laphet
is very necessary and popular. The different cooking styles can display the different taste of the
Laphet. As a tropical country, fruit has been the main ingredient in Burma. Many of the tropical fruit
is lush in Burma like mango, banana, lychee and so. But the Burmese like the mango so much. The
Burmese mangos are very famous in Asia because their mango is very sweet and has enough
moisture. As Burmese rhyme said "Of all the fruit, the mango is the best; of all the meat, the pork is
the best; and of all the leaves, lahpet is the best". As a multicultural country, Burmese eating patterns
and etiquettes are different from the neighboring countries. "Burmese traditionally eat a morning
meal and an evening meal that is taken before dark. The meals are served on a large platter or on a
low table, with members of the household sitting on mats. Food is eaten with the fingers, although
sometimes utensils are used. It is common to drink water and eat fruit after the main meal.
Throughout the day people eat betel and smoke tobacco. Burmese not only drink tea made from
dried tea leaves but also eat pickled tea as a snack. Other snacks include chappatis, fried insects, and
Chinese pastries."(Countries and Their Cultures). As you know, Burmese eating pattern is like the

Oral Hygiene And The Formation Of Cavities
Dental cavities are a very common health issue; most people today will face at least a cavity or two
during their lives. Microorganisms play a big role in the formation of cavities. Oral pathogens build
up on the teeth, together with food debris and saliva, to form a thick whitish plaque. This becomes
prime territory for the microorganisms to ferment food particles left on the teeth, releasing acid as a
by–product. This acid erodes and decomposes the teeth below. So what can be done to prevent this?
Dental hygiene is key to preventing microorganisms from building up. Everyone is familiar with
today's standard; brushing, flossing, and the use of antimicrobial mouth washes. A far less well
known technique – but potentially greatly effective – is the use of miswak. What is miswak?
Miswak is a traditional tool used for oral hygiene, dating back as early as 5000BC and still in use in
many parts of the world today. The miswak stick can be taken from several different plants,
including, but by no means limited to, Peelu (salvadora persica), Neem (azadirechta indica), Kikar
(accacia arabica), and Ban (glycosmic pentaphylla). Of these, peelu is the most common. Either the
roots, stem, or twigs of the plant are used. The bark is peeled away from the miswak stick, and the
exposed end chewed on to created bristles. Both the act of chewing and the use of the bristles to
brush the teeth can be used as part of an oral hygiene routine.

Altos De Los Mores Reflection

  • 1. Altos De Los Mores Reflection What happens in a moment, can change the course of an entire lifetime. Such can be said for the brave and compassionate students of Saint Brother Andre High School. During the festive holiday season, when so many of us were resting at home with our families, or out partying with friends, 24 students broke tradition and decided to go to Peru. While some wished to learn something greater from the trip or to just get away from the busyness of daily life, they all had the same goal in mind, to perform charitable work. Determined to make a difference with their short time there, they rose to the challenge and dug deep within themselves. Although their task list was long, the students recount each job as a fond and fulfilling memory, as seen on the personal accounts they wrote for their mission trip blogs. Supported by the organization AYNI, they helped the community of Altos de los Mores, in Peru, by planting Neem trees, sponsoring post–secondary students with their education, providing money to pay for medicine, assisting with teaching English to the children, and other charitable deeds. Once in Piura, a city 40 minutes away from Altos, their mission began. Starting on the 27th of December till January the 6th they dedicated their time to volunteer work and the peruvian ... Trying to get back into the quickly paced and pessimistic lives we lead here, was much more difficult, than it was to transition to the peaceful lifestyle in Altos. Individuals even said their perception of self had shifted as the children and people of Altos made them see their own desirable traits, they had never seen before. However, they found that the strongest imprint made on the trip, were those made by the young students. The effect they left, rewrote their appreciation for the gift of life. • 25. Orange Oil Research Paper If you have a wooden fence around your property, chances are you will deal with a termite infestation at one point or another. While liquid termiticide treatments do the trick, these products contain harmful chemicals that are unhealthy to breathe in and that are bad for the environment. Instead, try these two all natural ways to get rid of the termites that are eating away at your fence: Orange Oil Orange oil contains an active ingredient called D–Limonene. D–Limonene is an all natural insecticide. When termites come in contact with this active ingredient, it immediately poisons them and destroys all of their cell membranes. When this occurs, the termite essentially loses all its water and protein. In turn, the termite dies. In order to use this all natural insecticide, you will first need to put on a pair of protective gloves and prepare the orange oil. Simply take a spray bottle and add an entire bottle of orange oil into the spray bottle. Because you want the application to be effective and potent, you needn't worry about adding water to the mix. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hole should be deep enough so that it reaches the population of termites within the wood. Once you have drilled your first hole, take the spray bottle and aim the nozzle into the hole. Begin to spray the orange oil into the small opening. Continue to spray until the opening is drenched. Next, you will want to drill another small hole on the next post of the fence that is affected by termites. Repeat the spraying process. Continue to do this for all posts that are affected. In time, you will begin to notice that the termites have fallen out of the holes you have drilled. They will be dead at this point. To dispose of them, simply put on a pair or protective plastic gloves, scoop them up, and place them in a garbage bag. You also may choose to repair the damage from the ... • 29. Toothpaste Modern Toothpaste Toothpaste is a paste or gel dentifrice used to clean and maintain the aesthetics and health of teeth. Toothpaste use can promote good oral hygiene: it can aid in the removal of dental plaque and food from the teeth, it can aid in the elimination and/or masking of halitosis, and it can deliver active ingredients such as fluoride or xylitol to prevent tooth and gum disease (gingivitis). In most or all developed countries, usage after each meal is encouraged. Most toothpaste contains chemicals which are toxic when ingested, and is not intended to be swallowed. Sodium fluoride (NaF) is the most common form; some brands use sodium monofluorophosphate (Na2PO3F). Much of the toothpaste sold in the United States has 1000 to 1100 parts per million fluoride ion from one of these active ingredients, in the UK the fluoride content is often higher, a NaF of 0.32% w/w (1,450 ppm fluoride) is not uncommon. This consistency leads some to conclude that cheap toothpaste is just as good as expensive toothpaste. When the magazine Consumer Reports rated toothpastes in 1998, 30 of the 38 were judged excellent. Application of fluoride also prevents moisture build–up in some surfaces.[citation needed] Other ingredients are less commonly used, including Hydroxyapatite nanocrystals and calcium phosphate for remineralization,[6] and strontium chloride or potassium nitrate to reduce sensitivity. [edit] Other ingredients In addition to fluoride, the other fundamental ingredient in most toothpastes is an abrasive.[citation needed] Studies have shown that abrasives in toothpaste reduce the time needed to remove plaque from the teeth by approximately 50%. Abrasives, like the dental polishing agents used in dentist's offices, also cause a small amount of enamel erosion which is termed "polishing" action. Some brands contain powdered white mica which acts as a mild abrasive, and also adds a cosmetically– pleasing glittery shimmer to the paste. Many may contain frustules of dead ... • 33. The Common Health Tradition Of Different Cultures Based On... This paper examines the common health tradition of three different cultures based on cultural heritage and how these families in America subscribe to these traditions and practices. The necessary plan for health maintenance, protection and restoration will be developed based on the health needs of these families. The findings will be based on a heritage assessment of three different families within the New York area; Guyanese, Indian (Sikh) and African (Nigerian). "Traditional medicine has a broad range of characteristics and elements of which herbal medicine is an integral part. They are diverse health practicess, approaches, applied knowledge and beliefs that incorporate plant, animal and or mineral based medicines, spiritual therapies, manual techniques and exercises which are applied singularly or in combination to maintain well–being, as well as treat, diagnose or prevent illness" (Oreagba, 2011). Traditional medicine was practiced by all three cultures that were assessed. It's a tradition for Guyanese to use herbal medicines and treatments for home remedies before a visit to the doctor was attempted. Several herbal medications are being used to treat diseases and injuries in Guyana either because of lack of funds to consult a doctor or they believe that the home remedy will work. Johann Neem is a professor of history at Western Washington University and argues that there is a value in "Institutional culture" for the student that attends traditional classes on a college campus. According to Neem, institutional culture is important because learning is a social experience and depends on relationships since under the guidance of a professor a student will prosper, and be inspired by the energy in the classroom setting. Neem also states that professors are able to adapt easily to the needs of the students that are present in the classroom versus those who attend online. Neem, contends that distance learning undercuts institutional learning due to the fact that students are not fully engaged with their professors and can miss out ... If you're like me, it happened all the time. The idea that every student is the same and has to do everything the same is ridiculous. Every student has a different style of learning and in many cases teachers ignore that fact. In my experience it happen most of all in my math classes. My teachers would teach one way and I just wouldn't absorb the material. I would ask for help, stay after class, and even stay after school for help but it just wouldn't click. It seemed no matter what I did I would still pass the class skin on my teeth. At that point I thought it was my fault and that I was just never going to be good enough. I came across this problem mostly in math classes. Up until my junior year I hated math with a passion, and now it's my major. The switch filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If working adults took online courses they can do their work anywhere there is an internet connection however they have to ask themselves; would I get the same or better education I could if I was sitting in a classroom? In a classroom setting they would get the interaction with fellow classmates and the professor who all come from different places in their lives. If the working adult had a question or did not understand they would get the results right away, on the other hand, if the student is learning online they have to wait for their professor. The response time for their email to be read and returned will not be there when it's fresh in the student's mind. If one is planning on going to college as a working adult, he or she should consider the value of taking the time and attend classes on campus. In the article titled "Online Higher Education's Individualist Fallacy" written by Johann N. Neem was about the "Individualist Fallacy" which is ecological studies and instrumental variables. Omnivore's Dilemma Explored Omnivore's Dilemma Explored Outline: Omnivore Dilemma – Pastoral Grass Introduction: A summary of Omnivore's Dilemma and Pollan's critique of America's industrial food production and distribution system. Today's world agricultural system is controlled by a few large corporations that exploit the poor, the small farmers and peasants, and even use slave labor. They also control the seeds, prices, fertilizers, and even the genome of plants and animals, and this system should become more democratic and decentralized, with more power for producers and consumers, but it would be a mistake to regress back to a feudal or prescientific past. Thesis: Michael Pollan overlooks the many benefits of the current system of food production, which allows us to produce more food on less land than pre–industrial agriculture. His proposal that the nation switch to a local produce model is not economically feasible for the United States. 1. Background: Pollan's Position a. The insufficiency of current alternatives to industrial food production. b. The need for pre–industrial, locally sourced food production and distribution. 2. Injustices in the current global system of agriculture, dominated by a handful of giant multinational corporations. a. Intestinal Milleu Case Summary The current state of his intestinal milleu is probably in a pretty acute state of dysbiosis considering pathogenic growth is fostered by unarrested growth, and added substrate allowing gut permeability to occur due to the following factors: 1) Pathogenic microbial growth potentiated by decreased HCl due to PPI and H2 blocker use.6 a. Effects of PPI use i. Suppression of HCl (affect pH of microenvironment of flora) ii. Target proton pumps of pathogens iii. Decrease bioavailability of vitamin C 2) Fruits and vegetables provide (FODMAPs) fermentable substrate for predominating pathogenic microbes,2 while necrotized intestinal tissues provide additional substrate for pathogens; 3) Food sensitivity arises since an existing open intestinal wound (ulcer) allows undigested food particles to enter the blood stream for antibody complexing with those undigested food particles.3 while necrotizing intestinal continuously increases gut leakiness. ... Factors Affecting The Demand For Toothbrushes To assess the factors affecting the demand for toothbrushes in India, a situation analysis has been performed using the 5Cs framework: Context: In 2009, India was the world's largest democracy; with a population of 1.16billion growing at 1.4% per annum, the country suffered from a huge disparity in income with the majority of Indian population (78%) living in rural areas, and as many as 80% living under $2 per day. The 78% who lived in rural areas accounted for c. 64% of total expenditures in India. Around 50% of the Indian population did not have sufficient awareness of dental healthcare, and did not associate dental problems with improper care but rather to eating habits or genetics; most of these Indians were using natural remedies as chewing twigs from the Neem tree. Among the remaining population who used modern dental healthcare or a toothbrush, 77% brushed their teeth less than twice a day (recommended usage), and out of the 747.1million brushes sold every year, only 8.6% replaced their brush every 3 months. Cottle–Taylor (CT) enjoyed a large market share in India and focused on toothbrushes. Given the peculiarities of the market, CT decided to focus on toothbrushes where it enjoys larger gross margins by virtue of its existing manufacturing infrastructure that has been built over the years. • 99. Characteristics Of Liberal Democracy In American Political... Liberal Democracy in American Political Systems Liberal democracy, also known as 'representative democracy', is a form of government or political system in which "democracy works on the tenets of liberalism" (Holden, 1993). This system has been dominant in the Western countries, such as New Zealand, Australia, Britain, Canada and the United States of America, over the past century or so. Other non–Western countries have also adopted this system following the collapse of communism in the 1990s. This system seeks to increase civil liberties by defending them against encroachment by forces of power such as the government. It also limits the government's influence on moral and economic matters that affect citizenry (Avril & Neem, 2015). The main aspect of liberal democracy that makes it unique from other forms of democracy is its characteristic of distinct representative institutions which express and aggregate the voice of individual citizens. Such institutions may include elected assemblies or political parties, which make decisions "on behalf of the citizens". Liberal democracy is conditioned by political liberties e.g. universal suffrage, free and fair elections, rights to vie for political office and also by constitutional liberties e.g. freedom of speech, religion, and respect for minorities. As a result this system increases the scope of political, religious and even intellectual freedoms for the citizens, and thus rules maximize benefits to the citizen (Avril & Neem, ... But they are different than this other common skin problem because although they are also caused by a hair follicle becoming infected and inflamed, it is due to the presence of Staphylococcus aureus. This type of bacteria lies dormant on the skin, and it normally doesn't cause a problem. However, if the skin develops any lesions, it can quickly invade the area. This is problematic because if the infection isn't treated properly, it can easily worsen or spread. That is why most people never have just one boil. Instead, they get a cluster of them called a "carbuncle." Diabetics and people with poorly– functioning immune systems are more susceptible to carbuncles. Unfortunately, once someone starts getting boils, it seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes draining them or applying any type of medication to them next to impossible. In fact, many people say that it makes their skin softer. Antibiotic Ointment Over–the–counter antibiotic creams are very helpful for boils that have started to ooze pus or break down. That is because since they are opened up, the antibiotics can start to reach the inside of them. For best results, it helps to purchase triple antibiotic cream though, which contains three different antibiotics that work in conjunction to speed up the wound's healing time. • 127. Entheogens And Synthesis Essay Entheogens, psychoactive plants used as spiritual sacraments, have been used as tools to facilitate cosmological understanding in many indigenous cultures. The Indo–Aryan people's use of the entheogenic substance, soma, was revered, as the ingestion of such was thought to induce greater understanding and wisdom about the individual and the world. In this ritualized tradition, only the most spiritually pure individuals were deemed fit for experiencing this heightened state of consciousness. Examining the portrayal of soma in the Indo–Aryan work, the Rig Veda, and academic journal articles reflecting on the use of entheogens in religious experiences, one can recognize that entheogen use increases existential intelligence and that having only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While entheogens have been used in spiritual contexts all over the world for thousands of years, Western science has questioned whether an experience induced by a psychoactive substance can result in true spiritual understanding. Mystical experiences are, inherently, difficult to empirically prove, and transcendental states of consciousness and the change in cognitive abilities they produce are not easy to quantify or replicate. Those best able to compare a contemplative mystical experience and a psychoactive–induced mystical experience are the individuals who have participated in both. While there is not a diverse demographic of individuals who have personally experienced both, various spiritual teachers such as Alan Watts, Richard Alpert, Neem Karolie Baba, and Stanislav Grof have spoken of the similarities in phenomenological sensations. Similar changes in neurobiological, sensational, and perceptional differences in the individual with chemical and natural mysticism result in an inability to distinguish an observational difference between the ... With the world becoming a single market, globalization has had a major contribution in enabling the organizations worldwide to step out of the restricted domestic markets and to set up their operations across the globe with confidence. This has largely led to a decline in the importance in national borders and a greater emphasis on what the consumers actually demand no matter the consumer is located in the very country in which the organization exists or an entirely different part of the world. Moreover, with the rapid increase in global competition, companies that strictly adhere to and cater to the needs of the local markets are finding themselves at a disadvantage and gradually losing the competitive advantage that they so much strived to achieve. However, for some products and services the tastes and preferences of consumers in different nations are beginning to converge on some global norm. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Jiff Lemon Case 1) Advise Markt whether Markt might be liable to NeemMiracle Ltd in Australia and New Zealand for launching their neem oil hair care products under the brand name Mira–Neem. Is Markt at risk and liable to NeemMiracle with respect to Trade Mark infringement, passing off, misleading or deceptive conduct? No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons; a) The mark or 'get up' being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the word 'neem' may be argued to be descriptive. and b) NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand. There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct under S 18 ACL . An action in passing off deals only with misrepresentation, for an action in passing off to be successful we can refer to the "classical trinity". In the Jiff Lemon Case Lord Oliver set out three tests for an action in passing off to be met. 'The "classical trinity" has been used as a touchstone for passing off. ' It can be argued that the 'getup' of the Mira–Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to NeemMiracle with respect to choice of colour, font and naming of the product; further argued that the confusing labelling of the product without any disclaimer may misrepresent the Mira–Neem product as part of the products currently produced and marketed by NeemMiracle. • 155. Oral Hygiene And The Formation Of Cavities Dental cavities are a very common health issue; most people today will face at least a cavity or two during their lives. Microorganisms play a big role in the formation of cavities. Oral pathogens build up on the teeth, together with food debris and saliva, to form a thick whitish plaque. This becomes prime territory for the microorganisms to ferment food particles left on the teeth, releasing acid as a by–product. This acid erodes and decomposes the teeth below. So what can be done to prevent this? Dental hygiene is key to preventing microorganisms from building up. Everyone is familiar with today's standard; brushing, flossing, and the use of antimicrobial mouth washes. A far less well known technique – but potentially greatly effective – is the use of miswak. What is miswak? Miswak is a traditional tool used for oral hygiene, dating back as early as 5000BC and still in use in many parts of the world today. The miswak stick can be taken from several different plants, including, but by no means limited to, Peelu (salvadora persica), Neem (azadirechta indica), Kikar (accacia arabica), and Ban (glycosmic pentaphylla). Of these, peelu is the most common. Either the roots, stem, or twigs of the plant are used. The bark is peeled away from the miswak stick, and the exposed end chewed on to created bristles. Both the act of chewing and the use of the bristles to brush the teeth can be used as part of an oral hygiene routine. Although it may sound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
