4. What is it & history
Fumera is a popular character that appears
in the last 2 weeks in primary schools in
Catalonia.
Fumera is a spy for the “Reis Mags
d’Orient”, and this character monitors
whether girls and boys are behaving well.
If they aren’t behaving well, Fumera tells
it to the “Reis Mags” and they don’t bring
presents for that bad boys or girls on
January 6th.

6. Evolution of the
tradition
In the past, Fumera as a doll
entered the houses through the
chimney and then Fumera watched
the children. But now Fumera is a
doll that they have in primary
schools and almost no one has the
doll at home.

- It’s called Caga Tió or Tió de
Nadal. Apparently,it is a
decorated piece of trunk from
the forest.
But,
- We have a Christmas tradition
where we use it, and we
celebrate with our families.

One of the firsts, lo Morracos
In the beginning, Lo
Marraco was designed
by parents to frighten
their children if they
had a bad behaviour.
It is an ugly and
terrifying dragon,
common in
celebrations in
Lleida
Now, some children
give him their
babies’ pacifiers
and they “become”
older.

15. What is it and history:
She is a woman that lives in Montseny lakes or pounds.
The story is about a king of that times. He was walking and he wanted
to sit down around the lake and suddenly a woman figure appeared with
nothing on her body.
The man was surprised and in that moment he asked her if she wanted
to marry with him. She said yes.
Over time, after an argument with her husband,
the woman gets tired and sad and returns to the lack
forever and the husband never knows where
she went.

18. What is it
L’home del sac is a character very popular
among children. All parents have spoken to
their children about this character.

19. History
The story explains that he took all the
children without parents and he put them
in a sack.
But the other story explains…
A man sick of tuberculosis paid 3000
reals for a cure to the man that revealed
him the remedy. He explained, “you should
drink blood of a healthy child”. He had
to kidnap a child and kill them to drink
their blood.

Nowadays, because of that story, children
are scared when their parents say: “l’home
del sac vindrà a per tu”, The man with the
bag will come for you, because it probably
to kill you or drink your blood.

21. 06 Camunyes

22. What is it?
Camunyes is a demon of darkness
that feeds on the fear of
people and cannot move in broad
daylight

23. How is it physically and what does it do?
Camunyes has no physical form, it’s a
dark stain.
Camunyes chooses a victim, he spies
them, tries to find out their
weaknesses and then prepares the
scare.
The more frightened the victim, the
more he feeds himself and the stronger
he becomes. Their favourite victims
are children, as they are the easiest
to get scared . It is harder to scare
an adult, but it is also more
rewarding and more powerful.
