Technology changes everyday, the question is whether the change in technology are good or bad.
In Music Copyright Law by David J. Moser and Cheryl Slay, state, "New technologies provide
both threats and opportunities for copyright owners" (251). Technology has changed the way
people are able to read books, watch their favorite television shows, and listen/get music. From the
very first gramophone created by Thomas Edison all the way to cassettes, compact discs, and
mp3's, ways of listening to music has changed drastically (Moser and Slay 251). Although new
technology will never stop being created, it is up to others to keep up. Moser and Slay stated, "In
the early part of the twenty–first century, the greatest challenge to copyright and the music industry
is the combination of digital technology and the internet" (251). What is digital technology? It's
the process of taking sounds and making them into mathematical bits of 0s and 1s (Moser and
Slay 252). The most important factor that came out of this was no matter how many times it was
copied; it would never lose its sound quality (Moser and Slay 252). The second challenge that
copyright laws and the music industry face is the Internet. Moser and Slay's definition of the
Internet states, "The Internet is a worldwide network of various types of computers and servers"

Technologies are purely objects and we are the ones who control them; the ones who can give them
either a good or bad purpose. At this point in time however, the amount of negative uses for most
technologies are increasing. People have become very trustworthy of technology and have kept
sensitive information and even hidden some things from others, but some people have found ways to
retrieve this information and use it. Since people use technology so much, many have quickly
become addicted to it and it can be a distraction that's hard to get away from. Although technology
has uses related to helping others and finding information, anything from a laptop to a phone can be

people "hacking" and spreading "viruses" which can steal information and destroy devices.
Despite this, a lot of trust is put into these devices because people don't always know that their
information has been compromised or taken. Even when a site with many members has been
affected, it's not always spread to those members and causes problems. Not only is it hard to
figure out if you've been hacked or if there is a virus in your device, but it is hard to find the
person behind everything. Even if you do find the person, they often cover their tracks and cannot
be found guilty. There are a few cases, like one that's quite recent at the time this was written
involving a man helping to hack Yahoo, where people are caught. However, he was caught only
because of how open all of his social media accounts were. By following links that were connected
to his name, he was eventually caught. Another thing that hastened and created a larger importance
for this, was the large scale of the effects. This is a rare occurrence, though and took a lot of time.
Anonymity is also a huge problem when it comes to bullying.
The Internet can be used to connect people, but not always in a beneficial way. Just as there is

Is Technology Good or Bad For Us? Technology has been around for a very long time now. In
some way or another, it's been a part of people's lives nowadays whether it's cell phones, tv,
computers, tablets, we all own one or more of these things. Digital electronics started between the
late 1950's and 1970's. According to Forbes, the first document which included the discussion of
building a computer was on June 30, 1945. Back in the day, technology wasn't as popular or used
as it is now. It amazes me to see how much it has grown. From box Tv's to flat screen tvs to smart
tv's that can connect to other online sites such as youtube, and Netflix. Phones have gone from
house phones, to flip phones, to smartphones. It's hard to believe sometimes how far technology
has grown. Technology overall, is good for high school, college students. It helps them in many
ways one is being able to do research online. My question has always been whether technology is
good or bad for younger generations by Dr. Manny Alvarez. As said by him, "nearly every modern
