Global Warming Requires An Immediate Solution
Global Warming Requires an Immediate Solution Did you know that global warming is real and
extremely dangerous for our environment? Today, there are a variety of environmental problems that
affect our entire world; some of them include rain forest destruction, air pollution, land pollution,
acid rain, and over population. However, out of all these problems, Global warming is the major
problem that exists in our environment. According to Merriam Webster's dictionary, global warming
is an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature due to which the climate changes. This
is caused by the greenhouse effect, where the atmosphere builds up by gases, such as carbon dioxide
and methane, and the heat from the sun stays in the...show more content...
Weart to further investigate the global warming. Weart was the one who discovered global warming
by attempting to reconcile Tyndall's facts from a study of the institutional, ideological, and
technological contingencies that later shaped the history of the climate change. Eventually, other
scientists began to argue that human emissions of greenhouse gases can change the climate.
However, their argument was disputed. Most of the people thought it was a vague scientific
hypothesis and did not believe that burning of fossil fuels can increase carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere, and therefore cause global warming. However, it later became curiosity for people to
find out what actually cause global warming. Since then, the environmental problem of global
warming became a matter of grave concern, and serves as a threat due to its impact on climate
conditions and biodiversity of the planet. There are various reasons as to why global warming is
happening, but it is mostly caused by greenhouse gases. An article entitled, "Global Warming and the
Neglected Greenhouse Gas," the author, Andrew Jorgensen states that the greenhouse gas emissions
are the "second largest anthropogenic contributor to global warming" (Jorgensen 2006). The
Greenhouse gases that are found in earth's atmosphere are water vapor, methane, carbon dioxide, and
nitrous oxide which help increase and maintain the earth's temperature. Most of the earth's energy
comes from the sun, and when

Environmental Pollution And Global Warming
Introduction
Environmental pollution and global warming are one of the biggest problems the world faces today.
It is an issue that troubles us economically, physically and everyday of our lives in any field such as
construction of buildings. This В¬express the need of green buildings which is an environmentally
sustainable building, designed, constructed and operated to minimise the total environmental
impacts. By using these buildings people can save money, increase comfort and create healthier
environments for them to live and work, using improved indoor air quality, natural daylight, and
thermal comfort. Therefore, this literature review will examine the importance, cost affordability,
construction challenges and attitudinal issues of people in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kerala in India and
in Malaysia.
Methodology
Manoj (2013), Soni (2014), as well as Lesley and Mohammed (2013) all used a qualitative
approach in their research. The study area of the first article is in Ernakulam in Kerala, study area
of second article is in Trissur in Kerala while the third article study was executed in whole
Malaysia. Study pattern of Manoj (2013) is to conduct interviews of respondents included 210
households which comes in the category of lower and middle income households. While Soni
(2014) used a descriptive–cum–analytical approach, the data collected from both primary and
secondary sources are suitably analysed which helps to analyse the awareness and identify the

Synthesis Essay On Global Warming
Global warming has been a controversial topic for years and some have even denied its existence;
however, as more studies are being published every day in regards to our changing climate, it is
hard to ignore this growing issue and how humans contribute to it. The term greenhouse gases refers
to the group of gases that are primarily responsible for global warming and chief among these gases
is carbon dioxide. Rising carbon dioxide levels can be attributed to a combination of burning fossil
fuels such as coal, natural gas, and petroleum as well as deforestation in general ( Source A). To
slow the effects of global warming, it is important for leaders in our society to consider their
greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, and make...show more content...
According to an article focused on environmental awareness, "the world's average surface
temperature rose by approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit, the fastest rate in any period over the last
1000 years" (Source A). Damage has already been done to the environment but it is not the time
to throw our hands up, it is the time for leaders in all sectors to tackle this issue head on. We know
that carbon dioxide is the culprit, so now it is imperative to implement the solution and take a
hard look at who is producing the most greenhouse gases. Big changes need to take place but they
can only be done in steps and not all at once to be effective. In an excerpt from a book about
global warming, Mark Maslin brings up the point that many feel the Kyoto Protocol does not go
far enough; scientists believe that a 60% cut of greenhouse gas emissions is necessary in order to
"prevent major climate change" (Source E). A sixty percent cut of emissions should be what
countries work up to achieving but first and foremost, every country needs to agree to the Kyoto
Protocol guidelines. The Kyoto Protocol itself should not be viewed as the end in the discussion of
greenhouse gas restrictions, but rather the first stepping stone to a much broader and effective

Solutions to Global Warming
Scientists report that global warming has been escalating since the Industrial Revolution.
Governments are trying to reduce carbon–dioxide emissions. With the speed of destruction of
Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to
solve this danger, we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy
resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must be more expensive than
fossil fuels. However if we consider the negative price which is caused by global warming, this
result might be different. Now I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil
fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content...
(2) Find alternative energy resources
I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have
experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power,
tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the
cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some
industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions.
If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our
planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources.
(3) Recycle usable resources
In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of
recycling. However this is done in many cities in the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other
industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer
and other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings
are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of monetary incentive. And it works.
(4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming
As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found
that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent evidence that

Global Warming: Causes, Effects and Solutions
"'The future is here. Greenhouse warming is no longer just a possibility, it is happening now,' said
Dr. Michael Oppenheimer, a senior scientist with the Environmental Defense Fund" ("Greenhouse

December this year to come to an agreement on a treaty to slow down global warming by setting the
limits on the countries' greenhouse gases emissions, which include the emissions of carbon dioxide
the industries, machines, and cars produce, to preserve the world as we know it, threatened by the

A large quantity of carbon dioxide is dissolved in the ocean water. The quantity of it always comes
to equilibrium with the amount of it in atmosphere. Based on the very detailed statistical study of
the correlation of the ocean's temperature and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air, held by
the Bell Telephone Laboratories in the period of 1958 – 1988, some scientists conclude that it may
not necessarily be the increase of the concentration of the atmospheric carbon dioxide that causes the
warming of atmosphere. The study showed that a rise in ocean temperature actually preceded the
rise of carbon dioxide concentration in atmosphere.
Another theory states that the primary cause of the global increase of the temperature is the
consequence of the sun activity. Sunspot cycles, which range between 9 to 13 years, are determining
the amount of the sun radiation which is released in space and received by Earth in particular.
"Changes in this cycle on the order of 0.1 percent are equivalent to atmospheric effects on the
climate during the time period" (Wildavsky 362).
A large group of scientists see the cause of the current temperature change due to human activities
such as burning of fossil fuels in the course of the past two centuries since the beginning of the

Global Warming : A Potential Solution
Bioremediation: A potential solution to reduce our footprint
Industrialized societies are now tormented by several pollution problems that were largely unknown
prior to WWII. Prominent among these problems is environmental pollution of xenobiotic synthetic
chemicals that fail to be recycled by microorganism and may be biomagnified with destructive
effects. Also, deforestation, land conversion, overhunting and the burning of fossil fuels are other
human's activities that impact negatively our ecosystem. Contributing to global warming, the

Microbial metabolism in soils is essential for maintaining soil fertility and for plant growth.
Bioremediation involves the use of microorganisms to remove pollutants. For bioremediation to be
considered as an applicable technology for cleanup of a pollutant, it is necessary to show that the
chemical or chemical mixture is biodegradable and that the process of bioremediation will not result
in an inconvenient ecological side effects. However, various factors influence the ecological
proliferation and functioning of microbial populations. Microorganism have upper and lower
tolerance limits as well as optima in respect to temperature, radiation, pressure, salinity, water
activity, pH, and redox potential. These factors are the same ones that limits the power of
bioremediation as a technique to reduce the accumulation of pollutants.
The two general approaches to bioremediation approaches are environmental modification, such as
through nutrient application and aeration, and the addiction of appropriate xenobiotic degraders by
seeding. The end products of affective bioremediation include water and carbon dioxide that are
nontoxic and can be accommodated without harm to the environment. Using bioremediation to
remove pollutants is inexpensive compared to physical methods for decontaminating the
environment. Whereas conventional technologies call for moving large quantities of toxic waste
–contaminated soil to incinerators, bioremediation

combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases.
The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future.

There needs to be a reduction if not an extinction with the increasing amounts of anthropogenic
sources into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The longer we go
without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future.
To understand more about how increasing amounts of anthropogenic gases are mixing into our
atmosphere is important to know their origin. The most common anthropogenic gas released into our
atmosphere is carbon dioxide. It comes from a variety of sources, but mostly the combustion of any
fossil fuel. "About three–quarters of anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide during the past
twenty years is due to fossil fuel burning" (Harf, 147). During combustion, carbon in hydrocarbons
is oxidized to carbon dioxide and released into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is also released
when solid waste and wood are burned, and from greenhouse emissions. The exact destination of
carbon dioxide once released into the atmosphere is not well known, but the ocean absorbs some,
some is used for plant life as growth, and a lot of it remains permanently in the atmosphere. "In the
past century, atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen thirty percent. The concentrations of carbon
dioxide are now higher than at any time over the past 420,000 years" and likely during the past
twenty million years before carbon

To be precise, there are two kinds of human's sources such as heat and gases emission that produce
from the buildings and the greenhouses and heat loses that come from the power plants and
factories. The buildings and greenhouses emissions are heat and gases emit from any buildings and
houses activities like air–conditioning, using gas for houses and buildings activities, the radiations
that come from the electrical equipment. All these reasons have largely impact on earth's weather
due to increasing the proportion of Carbon dioxide (Co2). Many researchers may argue that the
building and the greenhouses emissions get the great benefits to earth's weather and environment
because they believe that these emissions have small weight in earth's atmosphere and keep the
balance of weather in earth (1). The air–conditioning systems in summer absorb hot air from the
buildings and the greenhouses and reject it directly to atmosphere. Moreover, during the winter
seasons, many people use wood, fuel, and electrical power for heating. Because of many reasons, the
buildings and the greenhouses lose large amount of heat energy by the walls, the windows, and the
ventilation systems. In fact, the effects of air–conditioning systems represent (18%) of the total
amounts of Carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions come from the

Global Warming : A Simple Solution
Global Warming: A Simple Solution
In 2015, for my Composition 1 Class, I wrote an essay called Global Warming: The Solution in Our
Hands. There, I made a revision on the global warming, causes, and solutions. One of the solutions
reviewed was capturing CO2 and its storage, for a long period of time, through industrial plants,
underground geological formations, oceans, or other materials in Antarctica. An industrial response
can contribute to a great solution. However, years later, I understand that the solution must come
from each of us. A solution should be practical, viable, and applicable.
Despite popularity, the issue has garnered in recent years, it is important to make some distinctions.

Greenhouse Gases (GHGS) absorb part of the infrared solar radiation reflected by the Earth and as a
result, it remains hot enough to make life on earth possible. However, the human being has altered
the natural greenhouse effect, making it one of the most serious threats to sustainable development.
In recent years, several human activities have caused the excessive emission of greenhouse gas,
mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), which is responsible for nearly 50–60% of the global warming
scheduled for the next few years (Maslin). In this way, we have exceeded the capacity of absorption
of the Earth, which raises the heat retained in the Earth 's surface and gradually increases the global
temperature of the planet (Maslin).
The Environment Program of the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organization created
in 1988 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), organization that has the
responsibility to gather and check the scientific evidence on climate change for many years (Zedillo
13).
According to Ernesto Zedillo, the IPCC in one assessment report found scientific proof about climate
changes (13–14). Some regions such as Antarctica, small islands, and sub–Saharan Africa are more
vulnerable to climate changes. Zedillo said, "Climate change will affect sustainable development,
just as climate change itself is the result of unsustainable development" (14). The inabilities of
human beings to live in harmony with the planet, as well as abuse of

Solutions to the Global Climate Change Essay
Global warming has become a world wide issue and an issue that is causing great controversy. It is
an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an
increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution (Dictionary). Global warming
is a natural process, but because of increase in certain activities this process is taking a faster and
more dangerous route creating global problems. Global warming was first theorized in 1894 by Jean
Baptiste Joseph Fourier a French mathematician, who noticed the earth was gradually increasing in
temperature. He came to the conclusion that the earth's atmosphere was trapping solar radiation
caused by the sun and reflecting this radiation back to...show more content...
The increase in CO2 emission is primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are
carbon–based fuels from fossil carbon deposits, including coal, oil, and natural gas. The burning of
fossil fuels is a big part of life because it powers automobiles, heats and cools homes, and generates
electricity. This combustion of fossil fuels is about 90% of the total emission in the world
(Greenhouse gases, Climate change, and energy). When this fuel is burned, it pollutes the
atmosphere and increases the global warming process. What makes CO2 dangerous is the fact that
it is nonrenewable and it warms the earth faster. CO2 emissions should be lowered because when
the earth is warmed up this and other greenhouse gases increase the rate at which the polar ice caps
melt, resulting in increasing sea levels and flooding. To help reduce these CO2 emissions replacing
a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb can save 300 pounds of
carbon dioxide a year (Al Gore, reduce your impact at home, 1), moving a thermostat down 2В° in
winter and up 2В° in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year (Al Gore,
reduce your impact at home, 3). Another great way to reduce CO2 emission is by switching to
energy efficient appliances which can save 175 million pounds of carbon dioxide. These are one of
many fantastic ways to help save the environment and drastically reduce the amount of CO2 being
put into the atmosphere(Al Gore, reduce your

Cutting down our forests is another human activity that contributes to global warming. Trees could
take in the carbon dioxide and convert it to oxygen. Carbon dioxide is the air that our body lets out
when we breathe. With fewer trees, it is harder for people to breathe because there is more CO2
in the air, and we don't breathe CO2, we breathe oxygen. Plants collect the CO2 that we breathe
out, and they give back oxygen that we breathe in. With fewer trees and other plants, such as
algae, there is less air for us, and more greenhouse gases are sent into the air. This means that it is
very important to protect our trees to stop the greenhouse effect, and also so we can breathe and
live. We need to find ways to have a positive effect on global warming. The current sustainability

Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural
process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy
from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The
gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous
oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to
be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any
greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the
earth. Global warming can and...show more content...
Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this
process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is
a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include
wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the
atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed
20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane)
A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the
water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great
amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the
temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other
people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of
rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing
season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more
money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some
crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There

Climate Change Solution
Climate change is an issue that affects all, and yet some do not even accept that it exists. Climate
change is causing glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise, more droughts and heat waves to occur, and
even more intense tropical storms. These are just a few examples of the effects of climate change,
but there are even more devastating effects such as polar bears having to search for new food
sources, on land, because of the sea ice they rely on for hunting melting at a more rapid pace.
Climate change enthusiasts have even said, "The struggle to save the global environment is in
one way much more difficult than the struggle to vanquish Hitler, for this time the war is with
ourselves. We are the enemy, just as we have only ourselves as allies"("Al"). The effects of
climate change are indeed devastating, but the question I want to find an answer to is how do we
lessen the effects of these effects that climate change causes? The reason I want to find a solution to
my question is that I believe that the Earth is counting down towards catastrophe, and a solution
must be found to save it. To find an answer to this question I explored five sources, all of which are
articles.
To begin my exploration, I looked at "The Most Effective Climate Change Solutions Are Rarely

solutions to climate change that are rarely discussed by governments and schools. I chose to explore

Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens
because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas

Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix
with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of
theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of
temperature changes.
Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched;
these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can
change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that
prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions
done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are

the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen,
this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented
and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is
being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of
gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many

Climatic warming, or what some call global warming, began thousands of years ago. This climatic
warming occurs because of natural climate cycles that the earth has to go through in order to have a
stable climate condition. Global heating and global cooling are nothing new today. There were Ice

The green–house effect happens when the gases in our atmosphere, such as methane, carbon dioxide,
and water vapor, trap the heat they re–emit the heat back to earth making it hotter. As a result of the
massive burning of fossil fuels the more and more gases that get trapped in our atmosphere the heat
that is retained here on earth is becoming grater and grater leaving us with hotter temperatures.
While some green–house effect is necessary to keep our earth warm, the exaggerated burning of
fossil fuels and their exhaust gases being released into the atmosphere the green–house effect has
been turned into one of the main causes of global warming. The causes of green–house effect have
great impacts on our climate and on other aspects. The green–house effect is the main reason why
icebergs are disappearing and the sea levels are rising. As a result of the sea level rise the currents
can be altered due the mixing of fresh water, that the iceberg is made of, and salt water leading to
desalinization that can change the earth's climate.
The signs that climate warming has been changing our climate and surroundings are more evident
today than they were years before. The Portage Glacier, one of Alaska's most famous glaciers, has
greatly decreased in size. Since 1950 up to 2002 the glacier's mass has decreased do much that it is
nearly out of sight.

It is important that governments and people solve the Global Warming problem by decreasing

level. California has been the only state to step up to the plate. In August 2006, the California state
legislature passed the landmark Global Warming Solutions Act which mandates that the state's
greenhouse gas emissions be rolled back to 1990 levels by 2020 (The Vote Heard around the World
1). This first–in–the–nation law puts a cap on gas emissions from power plants, refineries, and
manufacturing plants. Since the United States currently produces 70 percent of its electricity from
fossil fuels and only two percent from renewable resources, it is certain that by converting into more
efficient and renewable energy it would significantly reduce our emissions of heat–trapping gases.
Solutions for global warming include big changes, but they also include little things people can do
everyday. My proposal is to simply get the word out to everyone. Teaching children in school and
people at home how to implement steps on helping solve global warming is very important in
today's world. One thing everyone can do is simply reduce emissions from your home energy use by
using energy–efficient lighting and appliances, insulating your house, conserving hot water, and
turning off lights and computers when you're finished with them. It's

Solutions to Global Warming Essay
Solutions to Global Warming
There are many solutions to reduce the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere, which causes
Global Warming.
A main culprit for global warming is the use of CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons). If the use of CFC's
was reduced, the number of greenhouse gases will be reduced by a great deal (however there are
many other thing that cause dramatic amounts of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and
nitrous oxide). The items that contain CFC's are regular house hold items, but they can have a
devastating effect on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They are found in aerosols,
plastic foam and fridges. However now that the scientists have a greater...show more content...
Deforestation of tropical rainforests like the Amazon causes the amount of carbon dioxide in the air
to increase, due to less photosynthesis taking place. Also when these trees are cut down they are
then burnt which also adds to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. So reducing the amount of
trees cut down each year in rainforests like the Amazon will have a massive affect on the COВІ
levels in our atmosphere. However this may cause problems such as Brazil wanting money from
logging and mining etc. therefore trees will need to be cut down. To overcome this problem though
sustainable forestry could be taken into consideration, where for every tree cut down one or even
two new trees are planted.
The best way of reducing the output of carbon dioxide is to reduce the amount of fuel which
being burnt, by exploring other ways of producing energy such as using wind turbines or solar
panels. Encouraging people to become more energy efficient helps too, by buying washing
machines, refrigerators and other machines that are more energy efficient. Newer washing
machines consume a third of the amount of energy compared to the models made 15 years ago.
People can save energy without having to pay a great deal, in doing so the emission of power from
power stations would be able to reduce by half. By doing these simple things the amount of fossil

A Solution to Global Warming
Human beings are the advanced species on the earth. The ability of our ancestors to think outside of
the box is the reason why humans are the most dominant species. Once upon a time humans were
same as the wild animals. The daily chore for human from the past was to hunt, eat, and survive. At
present, the life of human beings is more convenient with all the inventions like cars and air
conditioners. These inventions have made our lives easier but have also helped to cause global
warming. The emission of carbon dioxide from these machines in the atmosphere causes global
warming. Global warming, defined by Oxford dictionary is a gradual increase in the overall
temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse...show more content...
Developed countries are more likely responsible to produce more CO2 than the developing countries
because they use too much technology that produce such gases. The people of both of the countries
can be taught about the importance of trees in their junior level education or the awareness message
can be broadcasted through the communication media. The people of the rural parts of developing
countries can be helped by the organizations like COTAP. COTAP stands for Carbon Offsets To
Alleviate Poverty. This organization teaches the rural people of developing countries about the
necessity of the forest and how they can benefit from it. This solution is easy to implement but is a
little costly because the organizations such as COTAP need donation money to achieve their
respective destinations. Other solutions for the global warming include reduction in the use of
electricity and increasing the vehicle's fuel efficiency. These two solutions have their promises to
reduce global warming but these two solutions seems inferior to planting the trees. The common
thing about these solutions is that they both have the same source to deliver the public awareness,
and both solutions tend to conserve environment and save money. The reduction in the use of
electricity and increasing the vehicle's fuel efficiency are limited to those countries or places with
cars and electricity; but what about the places without these

Global Warming Solution Essay

  • 1. Global Warming Requires An Immediate Solution Global Warming Requires an Immediate Solution Did you know that global warming is real and extremely dangerous for our environment? Today, there are a variety of environmental problems that affect our entire world; some of them include rain forest destruction, air pollution, land pollution, acid rain, and over population. However, out of all these problems, Global warming is the major problem that exists in our environment. According to Merriam Webster's dictionary, global warming is an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature due to which the climate changes. This is caused by the greenhouse effect, where the atmosphere builds up by gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, and the heat from the sun stays in the...show more content... Weart to further investigate the global warming. Weart was the one who discovered global warming by attempting to reconcile Tyndall's facts from a study of the institutional, ideological, and technological contingencies that later shaped the history of the climate change. Eventually, other scientists began to argue that human emissions of greenhouse gases can change the climate. However, their argument was disputed. Most of the people thought it was a vague scientific hypothesis and did not believe that burning of fossil fuels can increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and therefore cause global warming. However, it later became curiosity for people to find out what actually cause global warming. Since then, the environmental problem of global warming became a matter of grave concern, and serves as a threat due to its impact on climate conditions and biodiversity of the planet. There are various reasons as to why global warming is happening, but it is mostly caused by greenhouse gases. An article entitled, "Global Warming and the Neglected Greenhouse Gas," the author, Andrew Jorgensen states that the greenhouse gas emissions are the "second largest anthropogenic contributor to global warming" (Jorgensen 2006). The Greenhouse gases that are found in earth's atmosphere are water vapor, methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide which help increase and maintain the earth's temperature. Most of the earth's energy comes from the sun, and when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Environmental Pollution And Global Warming Introduction Environmental pollution and global warming are one of the biggest problems the world faces today. It is an issue that troubles us economically, physically and everyday of our lives in any field such as construction of buildings. This В¬express the need of green buildings which is an environmentally sustainable building, designed, constructed and operated to minimise the total environmental impacts. By using these buildings people can save money, increase comfort and create healthier environments for them to live and work, using improved indoor air quality, natural daylight, and thermal comfort. Therefore, this literature review will examine the importance, cost affordability, construction challenges and attitudinal issues of people in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kerala in India and in Malaysia. Methodology Manoj (2013), Soni (2014), as well as Lesley and Mohammed (2013) all used a qualitative approach in their research. The study area of the first article is in Ernakulam in Kerala, study area of second article is in Trissur in Kerala while the third article study was executed in whole Malaysia. Study pattern of Manoj (2013) is to conduct interviews of respondents included 210 households which comes in the category of lower and middle income households. While Soni (2014) used a descriptive–cum–analytical approach, the data collected from both primary and secondary sources are suitably analysed which helps to analyse the awareness and identify the attitudinal issues of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Synthesis Essay On Global Warming Global warming has been a controversial topic for years and some have even denied its existence; however, as more studies are being published every day in regards to our changing climate, it is hard to ignore this growing issue and how humans contribute to it. The term greenhouse gases refers to the group of gases that are primarily responsible for global warming and chief among these gases is carbon dioxide. Rising carbon dioxide levels can be attributed to a combination of burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and petroleum as well as deforestation in general ( Source A). To slow the effects of global warming, it is important for leaders in our society to consider their greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, and make...show more content... According to an article focused on environmental awareness, "the world's average surface temperature rose by approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit, the fastest rate in any period over the last 1000 years" (Source A). Damage has already been done to the environment but it is not the time to throw our hands up, it is the time for leaders in all sectors to tackle this issue head on. We know that carbon dioxide is the culprit, so now it is imperative to implement the solution and take a hard look at who is producing the most greenhouse gases. Big changes need to take place but they can only be done in steps and not all at once to be effective. In an excerpt from a book about global warming, Mark Maslin brings up the point that many feel the Kyoto Protocol does not go far enough; scientists believe that a 60% cut of greenhouse gas emissions is necessary in order to "prevent major climate change" (Source E). A sixty percent cut of emissions should be what countries work up to achieving but first and foremost, every country needs to agree to the Kyoto Protocol guidelines. The Kyoto Protocol itself should not be viewed as the end in the discussion of greenhouse gas restrictions, but rather the first stepping stone to a much broader and effective Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Solutions to Global Warming Essay example Solutions to Global Warming Scientists report that global warming has been escalating since the Industrial Revolution. Governments are trying to reduce carbon–dioxide emissions. With the speed of destruction of Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to solve this danger, we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must be more expensive than fossil fuels. However if we consider the negative price which is caused by global warming, this result might be different. Now I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content... (2) Find alternative energy resources I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power, tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions. If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources. (3) Recycle usable resources In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of recycling. However this is done in many cities in the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer and other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of monetary incentive. And it works. (4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent evidence that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Greenhouse warming is no longer just a possibility, it is happening now,' said Dr. Michael Oppenheimer, a senior scientist with the Environmental Defense Fund" ("Greenhouse Warning"). Representatives from more than 160 countries met together in the first ten days of December this year to come to an agreement on a treaty to slow down global warming by setting the limits on the countries' greenhouse gases emissions, which include the emissions of carbon dioxide the industries, machines, and cars produce, to preserve the world as we know it, threatened by the consequences of the global warming. The last one lasted from one hundred thousand years ago to 10,000 B.C.. A large quantity of carbon dioxide is dissolved in the ocean water. The quantity of it always comes to equilibrium with the amount of it in atmosphere. Based on the very detailed statistical study of the correlation of the ocean's temperature and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air, held by the Bell Telephone Laboratories in the period of 1958 – 1988, some scientists conclude that it may not necessarily be the increase of the concentration of the atmospheric carbon dioxide that causes the warming of atmosphere. The study showed that a rise in ocean temperature actually preceded the rise of carbon dioxide concentration in atmosphere. Another theory states that the primary cause of the global increase of the temperature is the consequence of the sun activity. Sunspot cycles, which range between 9 to 13 years, are determining the amount of the sun radiation which is released in space and received by Earth in particular. "Changes in this cycle on the order of 0.1 percent are equivalent to atmospheric effects on the climate during the time period" (Wildavsky 362). Global Warming : A Potential Solution Bioremediation: A potential solution to reduce our footprint Industrialized societies are now tormented by several pollution problems that were largely unknown prior to WWII. Prominent among these problems is environmental pollution of xenobiotic synthetic chemicals that fail to be recycled by microorganism and may be biomagnified with destructive effects. Also, deforestation, land conversion, overhunting and the burning of fossil fuels are other human's activities that impact negatively our ecosystem. Microbial metabolism in soils is essential for maintaining soil fertility and for plant growth. Bioremediation involves the use of microorganisms to remove pollutants. For bioremediation to be considered as an applicable technology for cleanup of a pollutant, it is necessary to show that the chemical or chemical mixture is biodegradable and that the process of bioremediation will not result in an inconvenient ecological side effects. However, various factors influence the ecological proliferation and functioning of microbial populations. Microorganism have upper and lower tolerance limits as well as optima in respect to temperature, radiation, pressure, salinity, water activity, pH, and redox potential. These factors are the same ones that limits the power of bioremediation as a technique to reduce the accumulation of pollutants. The two general approaches to bioremediation approaches are environmental modification, such as through nutrient application and aeration, and the addiction of appropriate xenobiotic degraders by seeding. The end products of affective bioremediation include water and carbon dioxide that are nontoxic and can be accommodated without harm to the environment. Using bioremediation to remove pollutants is inexpensive compared to physical methods for decontaminating the environment. Whereas conventional technologies call for moving large quantities of toxic waste –contaminated soil to incinerators, bioremediation Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Abstract There needs to be a reduction if not extinction with the increasing amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), per–fluorocarbons (PFCs) and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. Although global warming does make the earth warmer there is more to worry about than heating to death. Major concerns revolve around effects on agriculture, water resources, ocean level and coastal regions, and disease. Many scientists and...show more content... There needs to be a reduction if not an extinction with the increasing amounts of anthropogenic sources into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. To understand more about how increasing amounts of anthropogenic gases are mixing into our atmosphere is important to know their origin. The most common anthropogenic gas released into our atmosphere is carbon dioxide. It comes from a variety of sources, but mostly the combustion of any fossil fuel. "About three–quarters of anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide during the past twenty years is due to fossil fuel burning" (Harf, 147). During combustion, carbon in hydrocarbons is oxidized to carbon dioxide and released into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is also released when solid waste and wood are burned, and from greenhouse emissions. The exact destination of carbon dioxide once released into the atmosphere is not well known, but the ocean absorbs some, some is used for plant life as growth, and a lot of it remains permanently in the atmosphere. "In the past century, atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen thirty percent. The concentrations of carbon dioxide are now higher than at any time over the past 420,000 years" and likely during the past twenty million years before carbon Get more content on HelpWriting.net

To be precise, there are two kinds of human's sources such as heat and gases emission that produce from the buildings and the greenhouses and heat loses that come from the power plants and factories. The buildings and greenhouses emissions are heat and gases emit from any buildings and houses activities like air–conditioning, using gas for houses and buildings activities, the radiations that come from the electrical equipment. All these reasons have largely impact on earth's weather due to increasing the proportion of Carbon dioxide (Co2). Many researchers may argue that the building and the greenhouses emissions get the great benefits to earth's weather and environment because they believe that these emissions have small weight in earth's atmosphere and keep the balance of weather in earth (1). The air–conditioning systems in summer absorb hot air from the buildings and the greenhouses and reject it directly to atmosphere. Moreover, during the winter seasons, many people use wood, fuel, and electrical power for heating. Because of many reasons, the buildings and the greenhouses lose large amount of heat energy by the walls, the windows, and the ventilation systems. In fact, the effects of air–conditioning systems represent (18%) of the total amounts of Carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions come from the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There, I made a revision on the global warming, causes, and solutions. One of the solutions reviewed was capturing CO2 and its storage, for a long period of time, through industrial plants, underground geological formations, oceans, or other materials in Antarctica. An industrial response can contribute to a great solution. However, years later, I understand that the solution must come from each of us. A solution should be practical, viable, and applicable. In recent years, several human activities have caused the excessive emission of greenhouse gas, mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), which is responsible for nearly 50–60% of the global warming scheduled for the next few years (Maslin). In this way, we have exceeded the capacity of absorption of the Earth, which raises the heat retained in the Earth 's surface and gradually increases the global temperature of the planet (Maslin). The Environment Program of the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organization created in 1988 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), organization that has the responsibility to gather and check the scientific evidence on climate change for many years (Zedillo 13). According to Ernesto Zedillo, the IPCC in one assessment report found scientific proof about climate changes (13–14). Some regions such as Antarctica, small islands, and sub–Saharan Africa are more vulnerable to climate changes. Zedillo said, "Climate change will affect sustainable development, just as climate change itself is the result of unsustainable development" (14). • 10. Solutions to the Global Climate Change Essay Global warming has become a world wide issue and an issue that is causing great controversy. It is an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution (Dictionary). Global warming is a natural process, but because of increase in certain activities this process is taking a faster and more dangerous route creating global problems. Global warming was first theorized in 1894 by Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier a French mathematician, who noticed the earth was gradually increasing in temperature. He came to the conclusion that the earth's atmosphere was trapping solar radiation caused by the sun and reflecting this radiation back to...show more content... The increase in CO2 emission is primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are carbon–based fuels from fossil carbon deposits, including coal, oil, and natural gas. The burning of fossil fuels is a big part of life because it powers automobiles, heats and cools homes, and generates electricity. This combustion of fossil fuels is about 90% of the total emission in the world (Greenhouse gases, Climate change, and energy). When this fuel is burned, it pollutes the atmosphere and increases the global warming process. What makes CO2 dangerous is the fact that it is nonrenewable and it warms the earth faster. CO2 emissions should be lowered because when the earth is warmed up this and other greenhouse gases increase the rate at which the polar ice caps melt, resulting in increasing sea levels and flooding. To help reduce these CO2 emissions replacing a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb can save 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year (Al Gore, reduce your impact at home, 1), moving a thermostat down 2В° in winter and up 2В° in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year (Al Gore, reduce your impact at home, 3). Another great way to reduce CO2 emission is by switching to energy efficient appliances which can save 175 million pounds of carbon dioxide. These are one of many fantastic ways to help save the environment and drastically reduce the amount of CO2 being put into the atmosphere(Al Gore, reduce your Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Mitigation Strategies and Solutions for Global Warming By Julie Purvis June 13, 2010 SCI 275 Mitigation Strategies and Solutions for Global Warming page 2 Take a look at the world around us and think what it may look like in 20 years. Every day this environment is changing and not always for the better. Things we do in everyday life are destroying our environment. For instance, driving cars, using electricity from coal–fired powerplants, or heating our homes with oil or natural gas, all have devastating affects on our environment. One of those affects is global warming. There are people who dispute the effects of global warming, but scientist have proven that levels...show more content... CFCs are used in refrigerators and aerosols (n.d. Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect). Cutting down our forests is another human activity that contributes to global warming. Trees could take in the carbon dioxide and convert it to oxygen. Carbon dioxide is the air that our body lets out when we breathe. With fewer trees, it is harder for people to breathe because there is more CO2 in the air, and we don't breathe CO2, we breathe oxygen. Plants collect the CO2 that we breathe out, and they give back oxygen that we breathe in. With fewer trees and other plants, such as algae, there is less air for us, and more greenhouse gases are sent into the air. This means that it is very important to protect our trees to stop the greenhouse effect, and also so we can breathe and live. We need to find ways to have a positive effect on global warming. The current sustainability strategies and solutions for global warming do not seem to be working. We know what the problems are and what causes global warming, but we have not Mitigation Strategies and Solutions for Global Warming page 4 done very much to protect our environment. We need to make sure that the policies and procedures that have set forth to prevent global warming are being followed. The people of the world need to take a close look at how they, as an individual, can help. Slowing Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There have even been movies made about it. The "it" is global warming. "Global warming refers to the global–average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more" (Spencer). Some experts argue that global warming is a result of human activities, while others believe the warming and cooling of the Earth's atmosphere is a natural cycle. Supporters of human induced global warming stress that since the Industrial Revolution we have released excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, a known "greenhouse gas," into the atmosphere and increased the Earth's...show more content... The world's population has doubled from three billion to six billion from 1959 to 1999 and is expected to reach nine billion in 2040 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008). Because of population growth, there is increased consumption of natural resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007) states that the increase in global temperature is a direct result of human activities and is the most likely contributing factor in issues such as rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, and increased severity of weather. In reality, global warming does exist and has adverse effects on our environment. If human activities significantly contribute to increases in global warming, what are some things we can do to minimize our impact on the environment? Sometimes the smallest idea could have the largest impact. The following are some simple solutions that can be implemented at home or at work. One simple way to tackle climate change is to stop debating over the issue and start doing something about it (Lynas, 2007). Politicians and organizations spend too much time and money discussing ideas to minimize or reverse global warming. • 13. Global Warming and Climate Change Essay Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and...show more content... Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed 20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane) A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Climate Change Solution Climate change is an issue that affects all, and yet some do not even accept that it exists. Climate change is causing glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise, more droughts and heat waves to occur, and even more intense tropical storms. These are just a few examples of the effects of climate change, but there are even more devastating effects such as polar bears having to search for new food sources, on land, because of the sea ice they rely on for hunting melting at a more rapid pace. Climate change enthusiasts have even said, "The struggle to save the global environment is in one way much more difficult than the struggle to vanquish Hitler, for this time the war is with ourselves. We are the enemy, just as we have only ourselves as allies"("Al"). The effects of climate change are indeed devastating, but the question I want to find an answer to is how do we lessen the effects of these effects that climate change causes? The reason I want to find a solution to my question is that I believe that the Earth is counting down towards catastrophe, and a solution must be found to save it. To find an answer to this question I explored five sources, all of which are articles. To begin my exploration, I looked at "The Most Effective Climate Change Solutions Are Rarely Discussed," published by Science Teacher. The purpose of this article is to discuss possible solutions to climate change that are rarely discussed by governments and schools. I chose to explore the article because I liked Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This happens because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of temperature changes. Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched; these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Solutions to Global Warming Essay Climatic warming, or what some call global warming, began thousands of years ago. This climatic warming occurs because of natural climate cycles that the earth has to go through in order to have a stable climate condition. Global heating and global cooling are nothing new today. There were Ice Ages when most of the world was covered in glaciers and hot steamy times that allowed animals that now live in the tropics to live in almost any continent known today. A major change in climatic warming began at the beginning of the Industrialization Era since then "people have been adding extra carbon dioxide to the atmosphere." The green–house effect happens when the gases in our atmosphere, such as methane, carbon dioxide, and water vapor, trap the heat they re–emit the heat back to earth making it hotter. As a result of the massive burning of fossil fuels the more and more gases that get trapped in our atmosphere the heat that is retained here on earth is becoming grater and grater leaving us with hotter temperatures. While some green–house effect is necessary to keep our earth warm, the exaggerated burning of fossil fuels and their exhaust gases being released into the atmosphere the green–house effect has been turned into one of the main causes of global warming. The causes of green–house effect have great impacts on our climate and on other aspects. The green–house effect is the main reason why icebergs are disappearing and the sea levels are rising. As a result of the sea level rise the currents can be altered due the mixing of fresh water, that the iceberg is made of, and salt water leading to desalinization that can change the earth's climate. The signs that climate warming has been changing our climate and surroundings are more evident today than they were years before. The Portage Glacier, one of Alaska's most famous glaciers, has greatly decreased in size. Since 1950 up to 2002 the glacier's mass has decreased do much that it is nearly out of sight. It is important that governments and people solve the Global Warming problem by decreasing buildings and greenhouses emissions, cutting down industrial waste heat, and encouraging people to use biofuel in their vehicles. Researchers have found the three main sources of Global Warming: human activities (that is caused by their daily activities and its impacts on people's lives) and natural factors (which are caused by the chemical and physical impacts of natural sources) (Roleff 57– 61). To be precise, there are two kinds of human sources such as heat and gases emissions that are produced from buildings and greenhouses and heat losses that come from power plants and factories. Buildings and greenhouses emissions are heat and gases emitted from any buildings and houses activities like air–conditioning, using gas for houses and buildings activities, the radiation that come from the electrical equipment. All these reasons have largely impacted the earth's weather due to increasing the proportion of carbon dioxide (Co2). Many researchers argue that buildings and greenhouses emissions offer some benefits to the earth's weather and environment because they believe that there is only a small amount of emissions in the earth's atmosphere which keep the balance of weather on the earth (Walker & King 12). The air–conditioning systems in summer absorb hot air from buildings and greenhouses and project it directly into Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Higher temperatures threaten dangerous consequences: drought, disease, floods, and lost ecosystems. From sweltering heat to rising seas, global warming's effects have already begun. Many people still believe that since the earth is so big, human beings cannot possibly have any major impact on the way the planet operates. The truth is we have grown so numerous and our technologies have become so powerful that we are now capable of having a significant influence on many parts of the earth's environment (Gore 22). Without the help of the human race, and the listening ears of our politicians, we are going to leave this extreme crisis to the...show more content... Another solution, and possibly the first step for the world to work together to reduce global warming, is to put energy efficient, renewable energy, and vehicle technology solutions in place at a federal level. California has been the only state to step up to the plate. In August 2006, the California state legislature passed the landmark Global Warming Solutions Act which mandates that the state's greenhouse gas emissions be rolled back to 1990 levels by 2020 (The Vote Heard around the World 1). This first–in–the–nation law puts a cap on gas emissions from power plants, refineries, and manufacturing plants. Since the United States currently produces 70 percent of its electricity from fossil fuels and only two percent from renewable resources, it is certain that by converting into more efficient and renewable energy it would significantly reduce our emissions of heat–trapping gases. Solutions for global warming include big changes, but they also include little things people can do everyday. My proposal is to simply get the word out to everyone. Teaching children in school and people at home how to implement steps on helping solve global warming is very important in today's world. One thing everyone can do is simply reduce emissions from your home energy use by using energy–efficient lighting and appliances, insulating your house, conserving hot water, and turning off lights and computers when you're finished with them. A main culprit for global warming is the use of CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons). If the use of CFC's was reduced, the number of greenhouse gases will be reduced by a great deal (however there are many other thing that cause dramatic amounts of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide). The items that contain CFC's are regular house hold items, but they can have a devastating effect on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They are found in aerosols, plastic foam and fridges. However now that the scientists have a greater...show more content... Deforestation of tropical rainforests like the Amazon causes the amount of carbon dioxide in the air to increase, due to less photosynthesis taking place. Also when these trees are cut down they are then burnt which also adds to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. So reducing the amount of trees cut down each year in rainforests like the Amazon will have a massive affect on the COВІ levels in our atmosphere. However this may cause problems such as Brazil wanting money from logging and mining etc. therefore trees will need to be cut down. To overcome this problem though sustainable forestry could be taken into consideration, where for every tree cut down one or even two new trees are planted. The best way of reducing the output of carbon dioxide is to reduce the amount of fuel which being burnt, by exploring other ways of producing energy such as using wind turbines or solar panels. Encouraging people to become more energy efficient helps too, by buying washing machines, refrigerators and other machines that are more energy efficient. Newer washing machines consume a third of the amount of energy compared to the models made 15 years ago. People can save energy without having to pay a great deal, in doing so the emission of power from power stations would be able to reduce by half. By doing these simple things the amount of fossil Get more content on HelpWriting.net
