A Slow Time in Life
The last few years have been going by really slow. I was beginning to lose track of time. When my
dad left my mom, when I dropped out of high school, when Ron and I broke up was all becoming a
blur of my past. I didn't know what to do next. All I knew was that we were broke and my mother's
criminal record for stealing clothes and food was stopping her from getting a job anywhere in New
Jersey. Before we lost our cheap and broken down apartment in East Orange, we needed to get some
fast cash. I decided to drop–out of high school. My mother understood why I was doing this and
trusted that I won't let her down like how my father did to her, my sister, Clary, and me.
After applying to 17 companies, I finally got a job as a waitress at Slim's. The diner was in need of
more employees and I, a job. It wasn't the best job, but my boss, Slim Jones was kind enough to let
me take home some leftovers. I figured for now, it would do just fine. "Congratulations Lana
Simone for being the employee of the month 2 years in a row," announced Slim in the center of the
diner. It was that time of year again, when Slim gather the few employees he had and announced the
employee of the year. This diner didn't run really well but it was all that Slim had and he preserved
it pretty well for a 55 year old geezer. But I do have to admit, this place really needed a decent
makeover. The wallpaper was ripping apart, the door slid open instead of flying open, the bell was
rusted. The only thing that kept

School Phone Should Be Used In School Hours Essay
Have you ever got your phone taken away? You would probably be mad. On the other hand, you
might think that it was your fault for trying to do something that you know you couldn't pull off. I
am here to discuss that either phone should or shouldn't be used in school hours. I think phones
should be used during school hours. There are very important needs for one. If you forgot
something, I could call your mom/dad to come and bring it to you. Also you can use it for
emergency. For example, there cold be a breakout in a science lab in high school. The fire is
spreading and going down the middle school hallways. If you here about it on time you could save a
lot a lives. Luckily, you had you phone on and you call the fireman.
People all over the world need help. Lets start off simple, a phone is like a computer put smaller,
doesn't have any cords, and could fit in my pocket. For example, If I'm are on your way to the bus
stop. When you get on the bus, you over hear some people taking about people that had humongous
blisters and bumps everywhere. You were really discussed. As soon as you get off the bus and walk
in the classroom, a friend that was sitting with the people told you about how you get it and showed
a video when the doctor popped it. You are about to take a test, but the teacher says that you must
turn in all you phone or electronics. Even the teacher cant have his phone out! You start to fill sick
and vomited all over the floor because you thought of the video. Then the teacher asked that were
gonna call your mom. Then someone was looking out for the vice principle that was looking down
the hall way. When the principle catches the teacher and all the other students with there phones out,
she gets mad at the teacher and tell everyone to put there phones in a box in her office. When she
leaves with the teacher you pull out your phone and call your mom. She comes to pick you up to got
to the doctor.
Another thing that phones should be used during school hours it to bring things that you for got at
home. Many students forget thing and try to come up with a excuse. They might have left graded
papers that was suppose to signed and brought back. There could be other things such as progress

Exposition
One Windy Day, Dimension 17.4 was going through a Tornado Phase. A
Huge Black Cloud was in the sky and blocked every bit of Sunshine, so
every citizen looked up. The Huge bust of the Black Tornado passed, and
Oblign was a 127 year old Goblin, He rushed as he took his Bag & Magic

The Life Of My Escape From Binghamton
The weeks leading up to my escape from Binghamton, I was in constant fear. Every night I looked
at an old Short Line bus ticket to Middletown that had expired long ago. As I listened to my mother
and step–father Greg fight, I hoped that he would go have a beer and leave me and my siblings
alone. Greg had a habit of taking is frustrations out on us. He would have us do different exercises.
His favorite was to have my eight year old brother Mikey, five year old sister Ebbie, and I all stand
with our packs against the wall, knees bent and arms out. My littlest sister Pamela at the age of one
would try and mimic us standing against the wall. Her tiny legs would give and she would sink to
the ground. Sometimes Greg would make us hold heavy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I was standing on a wobbly dirty white chair stirring macaroni on the hot stove, as I listened to my
mother get ready to take her husband out to dinner. The all too familiar odor of charring hot dogs
nauseated me less than the fact that I knew I would have to serve the same meal to my brother and
sister once again. Sweat gathered on my forehead. It was hot cooking in a sweater, but my mother
had a rule, "Never ever show your bruises!" I was careful not to make too much noise. I did not
want to add to my already growing collection of growing purple marks. Sometimes I pretended I
was a mouse, creeping and crawling along the walls, staying quiet and out of sight. Quietly I
gathered my siblings around the table. I put on my happy face and served them the bowls of mac–n–
cheese with cut up hot dog I placed in the shape of smiley faces in hope that this would distract
them. I could not let them see any disappointment or that I was thinking "Hotdogs with no bun and
mac–n–cheese with no milk once again for dinner kids." When my mother emerged from her room
all dolled up. She swept past me to her youngest child, the one that was fathered by her new
husband and said goodbye. The baby squealed with delight at the attention. The rest of us just sat
and smiled. My face was tight with a forced smile I felt as if my cheeks were made of glass one
poke and it would all break. She left

The Journey Of The Meadow
The Journey It was another ordinary day. Lilian woke up at 6:30, went downstairs, said goodbye to
her grandma, and then walked out the door to school. Every day at school, Lilian sat next to her best
and only friend, Lucy. Lucy and Lilian were very different. Lucy was outgoing and best friends with
everyone, and Lilian was very shy and only talked to Lucy. Every day before Lilian went home, she
went to the meadow. The meadow was her favorite place in the whole world. The meadow was
filled with beautiful flowers that stretched for a very long distance. Lilian went to the meadow
because every Friday after school her mother and father used to take her there for a picnic. Her
mother and father died two years ago, but nobody knows how they died. The only memory Lilian
had left of her mother and father was a gold heart shaped locket with their picture inside.
When Lilian went to the meadow all she thought about was her parents. She missed them so much.
When her mom and dad died, she had to live with her grandma. After one hour at the meadow, every
day, her grandma would yell ¨Oh sweet Lilian, time to come home for supper!" That night at dinner,
Lilian's mind thought more about how her parents died than ever before! She wanted to know so
badly what had happened to them. Lilian had always wanted to ask her grandma if she knew what
happened, but she never had the courage to ask. That changed that night.
Finally Lillian asked her grandma, ¨Grandma, do you know anything

The Importance Of Public Transportation
There are many different modes of transportation that people use for either going to work, traveling,
or running errands. Some may be quicker than others, for example, a car may be quicker than a
bicycle. It all depends on where people live. Whether it be in a suburb, in an apartment complex, or
within the city limits. For those that live near a station, people should use public transportation as a
medium of going to work because it saves time, money, and it is convenient.
Public transportation outweighs the burden of car expenses. People that use public transportation
usually pay a small amount of money to buy a ticket to get to their destination. This is cheaper than
paying for gas or a taxi ride. With that being said, The President of the Institute of Transportation
Engineers recalls that "many people in these communities cannot afford cars." (1). Meaning, that
rural communities and other communities with fewer resources cannot rely on public transportation.
Therefore, this is why it is important that other forms of transportation are accessible to people other
than walking or biking. Public transportation is more efficient than private motor vehicles because it
reduces time spent in traffic and time spent looking for a parking spot at work. According to a
Spanish university article, a study was conducted where families were given many options for
transportation to work. The result is that many families travel to work by car even though there are
more infrastructures

Professional Critique: Bus Stop
Bus Stop
By William Inge
Directed by David Schweizer
Bus Stop written by the playwright William Inge was performed on Tuesday December 4th at
Centerstage, the State Theatre of Maryland. The production explained the transformation and
change of the characters throughout the show. Directed by David Schweizer, all the elements of the
production came together to form the concept of transformation. The production of Bus Stop grasps
the relevance of individuals finding themselves. Not only does the physically abusive cowboy find
himself, but the young café waitress finds herself through the fragility of the human heart that lies
deep within the characters. These characters continue living and moving forward in their feisty,

Costume designer, Clint Ramos tied the actors to their characters simply by how they were robed.
Bo and Virgil's costumes showed us that they were cowboys as soon as they stepped foot on the
stage, along with Grace and Elma's pink dresses and white aprons as they worked in the café the
whole production. Overall, the message shared from the production of Bus Stop set the
transformation of characters against reality. Directed by David Schweizer and written by the
playwright, William Inge, this production really hits home on how people are and end up after
change and transformation. The elements of the production really help enhance the actor's

Speech On Life Without Cars
Surviving without a car may be difficult, but its not impossible. Not having a car has many benefits
including having sturdy health, reducing pollution and saving money. Not driving a car gives a
person and opportunities to walk, ride a bike, reduce pollution and therefore reserve fossil fuel for
future generations. Living life without a car also gives a person an opportunity to experience of the
future life which would be without the use of fossil fuels because we are pouring out ample amount
of black gold from earth at a brisky rate than ever in mankind's history.
Automotives such as cars are an important part of human culture, but human could survive without
them. For examples students not necessarily need their car to go to the school.Students could get
help by following the following steps. First in the morning they should leave their house and walk
on the sidewalk in front of their house. Then start walking on to the sidewalk taking the shortest
route from their house's driveway to their bus stop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If taking a bus again, use the information gather before leaving the home. Arrive to the Bus stop
near the mall and wait till the bus arrives at the stop. When the bus comes stroll on to the bus, buy a

Later when the bus comes to a complete halt, get off the seat and safely get out of the bus and walk

Definitely surviving without a cars tough though it's possible. Surely a person could argue about the
time consumption comparing himself to a person who actually owns the car. But conserving a car in
fairly new condition is difficult too. Cars owner has to buy Insurance, make regulatory check on
car's systems and the most important part, pay for the fuel, whose prices leap up by each passing

Analysis Of Alfonso Cuaron 's ' Where Theo '
No longer are there bustling sidewalks filled with people on their way to work, ready for a day out.
The buzz of talking amongst themselves has died down and the screams of children playing has
disappeared. Smoke weaves its way through streets, making sight and smell become a thing of the
past. The sky is blackened in a coat of pollution, while the buildings struggle not to collapse and
blood is drawn in hopes of power and leadership. Bodies of those who could not run fast enough
liter the streets while the survivors are left with ringing in their ears. In this world, there are wishes
for what was and horror for what is. Notably, Alfonso Cuaron displays exactly this in his film,
where Theo, the protagonist, works towards getting a pregnant woman, Kee, to the human project in
a chaotic world that is struggling not to go extinct. All the while trying to find a cure for infertility,
and fighting a revolution. Regardless, this dystopia is a society characterized by human misery,
squalor, oppression, disease or overcrowding. Accordingly, Alfonso Cuaron's Children of Men
explores a dystopic world, since its society is set in an apocalypse, the people suffer from physical
abuse at the hands of officials, and there is a figurehead that is worshipped by the society. To begin,
Children of Men has a society that is placed in an apocalyptic world, which sets the dystopic setting
of the entire film. When considering an apocalypse, viewers must know that it is an event involving

Descriptive Essay About An Interrupted Vacation
An interrupted vacation "Bye," Mom and I said as we stood and watched as my Dad got further and
further from us. He left to go pick up some art I had made earlier but he didn't want to carry around.
My Dad turned around a corner as he disappeared from our view. Mom waited a little before she
decided to talk. " Do you want to go inside?" She asked pointing to the princess store behind us. At
six years old, I adored princesses. Mom opened the door and we walked in. The inventory was all
princess attire, as I suspected it would be. Mom walked to one of the walls and picked up A Little
Mermaid dress she had seen me looking at. She told me to try it on if I like it. So I did. My Mocha
colored hair brushed my shoulders, just hot enough to remind me I'd been in the sun all day. I went
in front of a mirror to see how I looked in the dress. My milk chocolate colored eyes darted up and
down, as I looked myself over in the mirror. We left the shop, a burst of the air blew in my face.
What was once a burning hot, August day, became a nice, cool breeze with a sunset in the
background. The air seemed fresher than it had before. I was dressed in my new Ariel dress Mom
had bought for me in the store. We stopped in front of the store, where we were supposed to be
meeting my Dad. I looked across the street and a yo–yo show had started. Mom noticed me
watching and decided to watch as well. She held my hand and smiled. After a few minutes Mom
dragged me. She started to lead us out of

My First Day Middle School Essay
"Don't be late for school," my mom said. "I know, I know," I replied as I looked over my school

bus would be coming at 8:12 so I had to go. Putting on my shoes, I said goodbye to my mom and
left for the bus stop. I saw other students leaving their houses to get to the bus stop. I wondered
whether any of them would be in my grade. Since I moved into my new house, I hadn't met any of
my neighbors. Perhaps one of them would be my friend by the end of the day. When the bus came, I

Introduction
The movement of people is a crucial aspect to consider in contemporary development, not only
around the world, but within a single municipality. According to "Code Red", an extensively
researched article published in The Hamilton Spectator in 2010, the most underdeveloped area of
Hamilton exists in its downtown district. The proposed Light Rail Transit system is a public transit
project that could revolutionize the downtown core of Hamilton, Ontario and improve the city's rate
of urban development. This report will discuss and justify a proposal for a North–South route,
including three stations/stops, and rejected routes and stations.
Background of the proposed LRT system in Hamilton
I. Rationale Great consideration has been taken by the provincial and municipal governments along
with Metrolinx to ensure that the Light Rail Transit system would substantially benefit Hamilton,
particularly in its downtown core

Bus Descriptive Speech
I had been dreading this day for four long months. My breathing got heavier with each step I took
approaching the bus. I walked down a long paved pathway, and saw the enormous bus that I had
been traveling in for the last two weeks, and I thought, "What did I just get myself into?" This is the
day that I would say goodbye to all of my friends and teachers I had been with for the past two
weeks. I would now be traveling in Germany without supervision. I climbed up the steps to the bus,
and took a seat in the same spot I had always sat in. The bus was fairly large from the outside, but
the second you stepped in, you realized that it was actually tiny. I sat down in my seat with my
friends, and exchanged a few words about the trip. The seats were covered in an ugly purple print,
that looked like it had just jumped out of the 80s. The bus had a clean smell, but was as hot as Africa
in the summertime. I sat down and remembered what my mother always told me when I was having
anxiety. She would say, "Laura just breathe, everything will be okay." In this moment I had no clue
how everything was going to be okay. As the bus loudly started, we departed from the last youth
hostel. I felt like I was going to choke. The drive was about an hour and a half, but it felt like five
minutes to me. I just sat in my seat and panicked. From the moment I sat down, till the moment I
stood up, I was shaking. I felt like I was experiencing an earthquake, and there was nothing I could
do. I could

My Personal Experiences In My Life
Essay #1 Have you ever felt like life is difficult? Or not to your expectations? Chances are that we
all have to deal with some difficult situations at times. When I was in Middle School I struggled to
fit in with my classmates. I have always been quiet and just listened to their conversations. They
always had so much to talk about and plans to see movies and other plans such as going to parties
and other social gatherings. But I was never included or invited. I remember one day I came home
and went straight to my room, laid down on my bed and cried. My mom came into my room and
asked what was wrong. I told her what happened that made me feel very sad and cry. A girl in my
group passed out invitations for her birthday party to everyone but me. My mother told me that if I
had received the invitation for the birthday party I would probably be ignored and they would act
like as if I wasn't there. And she also said "this is a life lesson that I want you to remember, when
you invite someone make sure you include the whole group or invite privately. Then she told her
story about not having time to be with friends. She came to Santa Barbara from Mexico when she
was seventeen years old with her older sister. A single mother of two daughters, one that was five
years old and the other six and a half. And also my mother's youngest sister who was seven years
old. They came to live with their aunt who had seven children of her own all under eighteen years

My Experience In My Life
It was my junior year on a regular Thursday afternoon in my social studies class. Or I thought it was
a regular day. I had a boyfriend at the time and I was in love. Or so I thought. He would always
walk me to my classes and be there when I needed him to be. So this day, I woke up to the sun
shining through my window and the birds singing a song. It was going to be a good day. I got
dressed and went to the bus stop, because I wasn't driving at the time, and waited for the bus and got
on. I arrived at school about five minutes after I got on the bus because I did not live that far away
from my High School. I arrived at my High School, James B. Conant, and immediately got a text
from John, my boyfriend at the time, asking if I was at school because he wanted to meet up and
have breakfast in the Cafeteria. We got cereal for breakfast and the school bell rang which meant we
had to say goodbye and walk to class. But luckily later in the day, we had the same social studies
teacher and period so we would see each other then. So far my day was going great.
Our class was fourth period, right after his lunch and two periods before my lunch, so of course I
was always hungry that period. I sat right in front of him and towards the end of the class period I
was on my phone and he got really nosy and asked me, "What are you doing on your phone?" What
I was really doing was deleting homework pictures from my math from the night before off of my
phone. But I did not think it was a big

Getting Back To The Highway: A Short Story
My legs are growing weak and my body feels like a weight. I have been walking for hours now and
have not taken any time to stop and rest. The thought of me getting back to the highway, back to
civilization, is the only thing that keeps me going on this long journey. Every step I took through
that river against that huge current took a huge tole on me. I can't wait to see the faces that I have
left behind on my journey. Just the thought of seeing them again gives me the strength to keep
moving and to get out of these woods. I'm so overwhelmed with excitement but at the same time I
have a part of me that is nervous. I keep thinking about the same questions over and over. What am I
going to say to everyone that I have left behind? What are their reactions going to be like? A few
hours later I made it onto the highway and within ten minutes I hitched a long ride with a trucker
who was going to Montana. He said he could drop me off in South Dakota at a bus stop and so I
hopped in and we went on a long drive together. I didn't really talk a lot and neither did he. We both
seemed to be in our own little world with no distractions. I was to mesmerized by the beauty of the
Alaskan wilderness which I had stayed in for months. While on the road I saw a lot of new
construction sites for roads and buildings. I had no idea what I had missed out on while I was out
there on that abandoned bus without any communication. I wonder what I have missed... there were

What I Would Spend The Next Two Years Of My Life
With orders in my hand, I was headed on a Greyhound bus north on I–95 to Fayetteville, North
Carolina, and Fort Bragg, where I would spend the next two years of my life. We rolled into the fort
over the holiday weekend, so there was plenty of free time off due to leave between TDY, and no
one on the post to receive us at Repo Depot. It was July 3, 1971, and we heard on the radio that Jim
Morrison of the Doors had died in Paris. My three friends and I decided on a road trip to Baltimore,
Maryland as kind of a Doors wake. We took the shuttle to the main post and from there down to the

I was starting to get an education about how others lived. After breakfast, Rob introduced me to a
few of his friends. One, in particular, was a real fox named Cindy and the radio blared from her

She joined our pack to visit the shore, so I moved in, as we hooked up with our other two friends
who had borrowed a car. We spent the rest of the day in the water, drinking beer and waiting for the
fireworks display that night. We listened to the many Doors' tributes that weekend that all the radio
stations were playing nonstop, in honor of Jim Morrison. As time went on we all got drunk and had
a hell of a time ‒ my first introduction to the Chesapeake Bay and Baltimore was a good one. Out in
the water, Cindy started to kiss me, and things began to heat up as we masturbated each other.
Getting me harder, she pulled off her bottoms and straddled my cock, sliding her pussy down my
shaft with both of us still under water. Grabbing her ass. I pulled her closer, feeling her boobs push
against my chest. Kissing her deeply, I squeezed her nipples, making them hard. Cindy and I fucked
until the fireworks exploded in more ways than one that night. It had been a short weekend because

Living In Sydeck Research Paper
Sydenham Summary
Sydenham, one of Sydney's Inner–West suburbs, is within 8 kilometres of the CBD and only a five–
minute walk to Marrickville when you want to work or play outside the suburb. Sydenham has its
own cafes, restaurants, train hub, bus routes, parks, pubs, and clothing shops. Most of the homes in
Sydenham are desirable to investors because of their untapped potential for renovation. For most
residents of the suburb, this is more than just a place to live. Sydenham is a community of good
people and an unspoiled gem of the Inner West region where you can live near to the city without
the hefty costs of living in the city.
Sydenham Profile
Sydenham is an inner–west Sydney suburb that is at the far end of the Sydney Airport's main north
to south runway. Several years ago, to alleviate the noise problem for residents, the government
bought the noisiest area and turned it into the now beautiful Sydenham Green. Now the residents
living in homes and dwellings barely hear them when they are indoors. Living in Sydenham
revolves around the community where the neighbours get to know one another, help each other
when needed, and share meals together often. Most people who live here have been here for a
generation. What's inside the suburb? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As A Social Worker, The Number One Most Important “Tool”
As a social worker, the number one most important "tool" in my social worker toolbox is empathy.
In my work with clients, it is crucial I have a keen appreciation and awareness of diverse life
experiences. Furthermore, an awareness is not enough but must be coupled with an experiential
component. In my current role as a social work intern, I am privileged to be spending time with
individuals from various walks of life. Some of which I share cultural ties of familiarity and some of
which I do not. It is important to me as a social worker that I have exposure to and experience with
the lives of others outside the range of my comfort zone. For successful empathic intervention, it is

For this assignment, I chose to interview Jan McRae, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who
has a long history within the profession ranging from in–home social work to medical social work
and now community mental and behavioral health. Together, she and I discussed unique strengths
and challenges individual clients encounter along their path to recovery. In particular, we discussed
specificities around Methadone and Suboxone treatments and pros and cons of each. My reaction to
this interview was that it offered insight into the delicate and tricky path of adult addiction and
recovery as well as encouraging my desire for empathic understanding of those unique life
experiences affecting the clients that I am serving.
My experience using public transportation, while not a new one, offered unique perspective into a
client's life as they might be travelling to SBHS to participate in services. First, it was
uncomfortable and freezing cold. I walked a half mile to the bus stop in fierce and bitter wind. Then,
I stood waiting for 20 minutes for the bus to come. It was not fun. Furthermore, the bus stop had no
place to sit or shelter from the wind. I managed to find a rock to sit on but the wind was so bitter, it
forced me to seek coverage behind a sign shielding me from the elements. It seemed as if I stood
there forever waiting for that bus. Getting onto the bus was welcome and warm relief. As I travelled

Risk Assessment
Introduction
Sioux Falls, SD is one of McBride's locations. McBride Financial Services utilizes sensitive
equipment and toxic chemicals during its manufacturing process. These high end and dangerous
items place the location at risk. Some of the threats include: use of toxic chemicals, public
transportation, crime, and acts of terrorism. It is McBride's responsibility to mitigate these threats.
Use of Toxic Chemicals
McBride Financial Services must control the risk of its use of toxic chemicals. "In its 2009 report
Science and Decisions: Advancing Risk Assessment, the NAS recommended a process to address
and communicate the uncertainty and variability inherent in a risk assessment..." ... Show more

Although there is no actual risk to the Sioux Falls headquarters from the bus terminal itself, a bus
stop is to be found a few yards from the headquarters. For the reason that the bus stop is very near
the office, the likely risk of a bus collision is there, as also the hazard of a bomb exploding and/or
terrorism. To lessen the dangers, a recommendation that every office window be installed with
security glass, protective bars installed to every external window frame, and a steel protection entry
screen be attached to the front entryway with a remote controlled security device.
Railroad Terminals. With a railway station within walking distance to McBride Financial Services,
precautions must be made to mitigate derailing of train cars. Railway cars contain a great deal of
mass. When you combine that with velocity, you obtain force. A runaway rail car could obtain
enough force to destroy sections of McBride Financial Services. With that in mind, it is essential
that McBride invest in precautionary measures. This could include crafting railway dunes to prevent
railway cars from colliding with McBride's structures.
Crime
In any city or town there is always criminal activity present (Albanese, 2003). Sioux Falls is no
exception. For that reason, McBride must have protection on its own from every kind of crime that
could go on. This is to include deliberate actions taken towards McBride's properties and actions

Bus Stop By William Inge
The visual that a play presents is a dominating factor in the quest to invite an audience member into
a world of which they feel a part. In a play such as Bus Stop by William Inge, this is especially
important because Grace's Diner plays a primary role in the storytelling. Inge's use of the iconic
American diner to tell his story is ingenious. Simply setting eyes on the set inevitably evokes
pleasant feelings of familiarity and comfort in the minds of most audience members. A diner is a
place where people gather; a place where individuals from different backgrounds share a similar
experience. Inge crafted his characters meticulously in order to create contrast, conflict, and
chemistry that would drive the plot through the forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

upstage–center, and one downstage–left, providing a clear path to the main entrance door far stage
right. The chairs would not match. There would be two or three different types of chairs dispersed
among the 3 tables.
Two "badly–shaded light bulbs" would hang from the ceiling, creating the illusion that they are the
only light source, however if this were actually the case, the lighting would prove insufficient for
the audience to see the action on stage without straining their eyes. Therefore, most of the light
would be generated from the lighting system in the theatre. It is imperative that the contrast between
the diner and the harsh weather outside be evident from the start. This can be accomplished by
presenting the windows piled with snow on the outside, almost to the top of the windows, as if a
snow plow had pushed the snow up against them. The tops of the windows would appear to be
covered in frost. This visual would provide a realistic and budget–friendly means of establishing the
weather, because it would not be necessary to find technology to create an ongoing blizzard outside.
Wind sounds with controllable velocity would contribute heavily to this. The warm–colored lighting
in the diner, as well as the

Problems In New York City Essay
New York City and its suburbs are world–renowned for many things. However, when it comes to
bicycle integration with public transportation, New York City lies in the shadow of other cities such
as Portland and San Francisco. In these cities, all public buses have bike racks, trains have bicycle
storage, cyclists have access to secure parking at metro stations, and safe bikeways provide cyclists
with a route to metro stations. All four of these characteristics are needed to foster a bicycle–
friendly transit system. However, while New York City excels in certain areas of this criteria, it
lacks bike racks on buses and secure bike parking at subway stations. These problems also persist in
New York City's suburbs; however, the suburbs fall even farther behind the city due to their lack of
safe bikeways. With careful planning, these problems can be solved. To fix the lack of secure
parking at downtown metro stations, I suggest implementing bike lockers at large parking garages in
the city. The lack of secure parking at suburban metro stations can be resolved with more bike
lockers at city stations that serve suburban commuter routes. For the shortage of bike racks on city
and suburban buses, the solution is to simply install more bike racks on these buses. Finally, the lack
of safe bikeways in the suburbs can be resolved by building more bus stops closer to residential
areas, which will reduce the need for cyclists to travel long distances on dangerous main roads.

Unfortunately the cutter was 20 minutes, which she used to review a chapter for tomorrow's human

Susan agreed, although she drew the line at the suggestion to lighten her hair color. She sat very

the result and complimented the cutter on her work. Including the shampoo, the process lasted about

The Bus Stop Killer By Geoffrey Wansell
Below is a review of The Bus Stop killer published by Penguin Books in 2011, written by Geoffrey
Wansell. It recalls the eventful murders of Milly Dowler, Amélie Delagrange and Marsha
McDonnell and the full life story of the serial killer Levi Bellfield. This book outlines the massive,
tedious nine–year investigation by police and prosecutors into Levi Bellfield, his eventual arrest and
trial. It tells of Bellfield's controlling, terrifying personality – "a man who went from charming to
monstrous in a blink of an eye" – and his depraved stalking of young women. Levi Bellfield is the
only man in modern British legal history to be given two separate whole life sentences. Geoffrey
Wansell is a London–based author and free–lance journalist of eight books including the official
biography of Frederick West through exclusive access to tape recordings. He also published
biographies, including the playwright Sir Terrence Ratigan, a book which was short–listed for the
Whitbread Prize as the book of the year. Geoffrey Wansell has been a full–time writer for nearly 50

Where Worlds Collide By Pico Iyer
"Where Worlds Collide" is an essay by Pico Iyer who talks about the expectations and reality of Los
Angeles through the perspectives of travelers from different backgrounds. In "Where Worlds
Collide," Pico Iyer argues that even though Los Angeles is depicted as a vicinity to receive wealth,
happiness, and many opportunities– it is actually the antithesis, and instead, many harsh prejudice
and unending craziness will occur instead; Iyer argues this by using allusions, anaphoras, and
juxtapositions to help convey what he is saying.
In the beginning of this passage, Iyer starts off with a lively and narrative tone to introduce a biblical
allusion in the first paragraph; Iyer explains how many travelers come out from the airplane to reach
their final destination, the "Promised Land." This allusion sparks an interest to the readers because
Iyer is referring to the Los Angeles International Airport as the "Promised Land." Throughout the
essay, Iyer refers to the LAX as the "Land of Opportunity" Iyer is using these two allusions to help
paint a picture of what the LAX means to these naive travelers, a place filled with hopes and
dreams. These allusions help correspond to the jubilance of the author's tone and helps keep the
writing capture the author's passion about his story.
Later in Iyer's passage, he uses anaphoras to help solidify the hectic attributes of the LAX, which
contradicts the supposed "Promised Land." Iyer describes how the second thing that the travelers see
is that "[i]n front of them is a Van Stop, a Bus Stop, a Courtesy Tram Stop, and a Shuttle Bus
Stop..." (101). The repetition of "stop" is utilized to show that all of these "stops" are bombarding
their way through towards the travelers– just as if everything is going out of control. The scenery
that Iyer is depicting is about a hectic airport, not about a "Promised Land." Iyer includes more
anaphoras as he talks about how "[t]hey have already braved the ranks of Asian officials, the
criminal–looking security men in jackets... They already, perhaps, visited the restroom where
someone has written, 'Yes on Proposition 187. Mexicans go home...'" (101). The anaphoras being
used in this example shows the repetition of "they have" and the emphasis of this

across Metro Transit's service area but to engage with its riders in order to develop better parameters
and guidelines for future bus stop investments. The process will end in March 2017.
The funding for the BBS engagement comes from a $3.26 million dollar Ladders of Opportunity
Grant from the Federal Transit Administration for bus stop improvements that Metro Transit won in
late 2014. Besides improving bus shelters and stops, Metro Transit also saw this grant as an
opportunity to work towards the Metropolitan Council regional government's Thrive MSP 2040 plan
objective of "raising awareness of the complex interdependencies of income, race, place and
opportunity and to challenge both itself and others to think regionally and act equitably for a better
region for all."
The BBS process is also aimed at addressing Metro Transit's negative press from failing to
appropriately balance its bus stop investments across its ridership. A

A Slow Time In Life

  • 1. A Slow Time in Life The last few years have been going by really slow. I was beginning to lose track of time. When my dad left my mom, when I dropped out of high school, when Ron and I broke up was all becoming a blur of my past. I didn't know what to do next. All I knew was that we were broke and my mother's criminal record for stealing clothes and food was stopping her from getting a job anywhere in New Jersey. Before we lost our cheap and broken down apartment in East Orange, we needed to get some fast cash. I decided to drop–out of high school. My mother understood why I was doing this and trusted that I won't let her down like how my father did to her, my sister, Clary, and me. After applying to 17 companies, I finally got a job as a waitress at Slim's. The diner was in need of more employees and I, a job. It wasn't the best job, but my boss, Slim Jones was kind enough to let me take home some leftovers. I figured for now, it would do just fine. "Congratulations Lana Simone for being the employee of the month 2 years in a row," announced Slim in the center of the diner. It was that time of year again, when Slim gather the few employees he had and announced the employee of the year. This diner didn't run really well but it was all that Slim had and he preserved it pretty well for a 55 year old geezer. But I do have to admit, this place really needed a decent makeover. The wallpaper was ripping apart, the door slid open instead of flying open, the bell was rusted. The only thing that kept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. School Phone Should Be Used In School Hours Essay Have you ever got your phone taken away? You would probably be mad. On the other hand, you might think that it was your fault for trying to do something that you know you couldn't pull off. I am here to discuss that either phone should or shouldn't be used in school hours. I think phones should be used during school hours. There are very important needs for one. If you forgot something, I could call your mom/dad to come and bring it to you. Also you can use it for emergency. For example, there cold be a breakout in a science lab in high school. The fire is spreading and going down the middle school hallways. If you here about it on time you could save a lot a lives. Luckily, you had you phone on and you call the fireman. People all over the world need help. Lets start off simple, a phone is like a computer put smaller, doesn't have any cords, and could fit in my pocket. For example, If I'm are on your way to the bus stop. When you get on the bus, you over hear some people taking about people that had humongous blisters and bumps everywhere. You were really discussed. As soon as you get off the bus and walk in the classroom, a friend that was sitting with the people told you about how you get it and showed a video when the doctor popped it. You are about to take a test, but the teacher says that you must turn in all you phone or electronics. Even the teacher cant have his phone out! You start to fill sick and vomited all over the floor because you thought of the video. Then the teacher asked that were gonna call your mom. Then someone was looking out for the vice principle that was looking down the hall way. When the principle catches the teacher and all the other students with there phones out, she gets mad at the teacher and tell everyone to put there phones in a box in her office. When she leaves with the teacher you pull out your phone and call your mom. She comes to pick you up to got to the doctor. Another thing that phones should be used during school hours it to bring things that you for got at home. Many students forget thing and try to come up with a excuse. They might have left graded papers that was suppose to signed and brought back. There could be other things such as progress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Life Of My Escape From Binghamton The weeks leading up to my escape from Binghamton, I was in constant fear. Every night I looked at an old Short Line bus ticket to Middletown that had expired long ago. As I listened to my mother and step–father Greg fight, I hoped that he would go have a beer and leave me and my siblings alone. Greg had a habit of taking is frustrations out on us. He would have us do different exercises. His favorite was to have my eight year old brother Mikey, five year old sister Ebbie, and I all stand with our packs against the wall, knees bent and arms out. My littlest sister Pamela at the age of one would try and mimic us standing against the wall. Her tiny legs would give and she would sink to the ground. Sometimes Greg would make us hold heavy ... The all too familiar odor of charring hot dogs nauseated me less than the fact that I knew I would have to serve the same meal to my brother and sister once again. Sweat gathered on my forehead. It was hot cooking in a sweater, but my mother had a rule, "Never ever show your bruises!" I was careful not to make too much noise. I did not want to add to my already growing collection of growing purple marks. Sometimes I pretended I was a mouse, creeping and crawling along the walls, staying quiet and out of sight. Quietly I gathered my siblings around the table. I put on my happy face and served them the bowls of mac–n– cheese with cut up hot dog I placed in the shape of smiley faces in hope that this would distract them. I could not let them see any disappointment or that I was thinking "Hotdogs with no bun and mac–n–cheese with no milk once again for dinner kids." When my mother emerged from her room all dolled up. She swept past me to her youngest child, the one that was fathered by her new husband and said goodbye. The baby squealed with delight at the attention. The rest of us just sat and smiled. My face was tight with a forced smile I felt as if my cheeks were made of glass one poke and it would all break. She left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Journey Of The Meadow The Journey It was another ordinary day. Lilian woke up at 6:30, went downstairs, said goodbye to her grandma, and then walked out the door to school. Every day at school, Lilian sat next to her best and only friend, Lucy. Lucy and Lilian were very different. Lucy was outgoing and best friends with everyone, and Lilian was very shy and only talked to Lucy. Every day before Lilian went home, she went to the meadow. The meadow was her favorite place in the whole world. The meadow was filled with beautiful flowers that stretched for a very long distance. Lilian went to the meadow because every Friday after school her mother and father used to take her there for a picnic. Her mother and father died two years ago, but nobody knows how they died. The only memory Lilian had left of her mother and father was a gold heart shaped locket with their picture inside. When Lilian went to the meadow all she thought about was her parents. She missed them so much. When her mom and dad died, she had to live with her grandma. After one hour at the meadow, every day, her grandma would yell ¨Oh sweet Lilian, time to come home for supper!" That night at dinner, Lilian's mind thought more about how her parents died than ever before! She wanted to know so badly what had happened to them. Lilian had always wanted to ask her grandma if she knew what happened, but she never had the courage to ask. That changed that night. Finally Lillian asked her grandma, ¨Grandma, do you know anything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Public Transportation There are many different modes of transportation that people use for either going to work, traveling, or running errands. Some may be quicker than others, for example, a car may be quicker than a bicycle. It all depends on where people live. Whether it be in a suburb, in an apartment complex, or within the city limits. For those that live near a station, people should use public transportation as a medium of going to work because it saves time, money, and it is convenient. Public transportation outweighs the burden of car expenses. People that use public transportation usually pay a small amount of money to buy a ticket to get to their destination. This is cheaper than paying for gas or a taxi ride. With that being said, The President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers recalls that "many people in these communities cannot afford cars." (1). Meaning, that rural communities and other communities with fewer resources cannot rely on public transportation. Therefore, this is why it is important that other forms of transportation are accessible to people other than walking or biking. Public transportation is more efficient than private motor vehicles because it reduces time spent in traffic and time spent looking for a parking spot at work. According to a Spanish university article, a study was conducted where families were given many options for transportation to work. The result is that many families travel to work by car even though there are more infrastructures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Analysis Of Alfonso Cuaron 's ' Where Theo ' No longer are there bustling sidewalks filled with people on their way to work, ready for a day out. The buzz of talking amongst themselves has died down and the screams of children playing has disappeared. Smoke weaves its way through streets, making sight and smell become a thing of the past. The sky is blackened in a coat of pollution, while the buildings struggle not to collapse and blood is drawn in hopes of power and leadership. Bodies of those who could not run fast enough liter the streets while the survivors are left with ringing in their ears. In this world, there are wishes for what was and horror for what is. Notably, Alfonso Cuaron displays exactly this in his film, where Theo, the protagonist, works towards getting a pregnant woman, Kee, to the human project in a chaotic world that is struggling not to go extinct. All the while trying to find a cure for infertility, and fighting a revolution. Regardless, this dystopia is a society characterized by human misery, squalor, oppression, disease or overcrowding. Accordingly, Alfonso Cuaron's Children of Men explores a dystopic world, since its society is set in an apocalypse, the people suffer from physical abuse at the hands of officials, and there is a figurehead that is worshipped by the society. To begin, Children of Men has a society that is placed in an apocalyptic world, which sets the dystopic setting of the entire film. • 12. Descriptive Essay About An Interrupted Vacation An interrupted vacation "Bye," Mom and I said as we stood and watched as my Dad got further and further from us. He left to go pick up some art I had made earlier but he didn't want to carry around. My Dad turned around a corner as he disappeared from our view. Mom waited a little before she decided to talk. " Do you want to go inside?" She asked pointing to the princess store behind us. At six years old, I adored princesses. Mom opened the door and we walked in. The inventory was all princess attire, as I suspected it would be. Mom walked to one of the walls and picked up A Little Mermaid dress she had seen me looking at. She told me to try it on if I like it. So I did. My Mocha colored hair brushed my shoulders, just hot enough to remind me I'd been in the sun all day. I went in front of a mirror to see how I looked in the dress. My milk chocolate colored eyes darted up and down, as I looked myself over in the mirror. We left the shop, a burst of the air blew in my face. What was once a burning hot, August day, became a nice, cool breeze with a sunset in the background. The air seemed fresher than it had before. I was dressed in my new Ariel dress Mom had bought for me in the store. We stopped in front of the store, where we were supposed to be meeting my Dad. • 19. Bus Descriptive Speech I had been dreading this day for four long months. My breathing got heavier with each step I took approaching the bus. I walked down a long paved pathway, and saw the enormous bus that I had been traveling in for the last two weeks, and I thought, "What did I just get myself into?" This is the day that I would say goodbye to all of my friends and teachers I had been with for the past two weeks. I would now be traveling in Germany without supervision. I climbed up the steps to the bus, and took a seat in the same spot I had always sat in. The bus was fairly large from the outside, but the second you stepped in, you realized that it was actually tiny. I sat down in my seat with my friends, and exchanged a few words about the trip. The seats were covered in an ugly purple print, that looked like it had just jumped out of the 80s. The bus had a clean smell, but was as hot as Africa in the summertime. I sat down and remembered what my mother always told me when I was having anxiety. She would say, "Laura just breathe, everything will be okay." In this moment I had no clue how everything was going to be okay. As the bus loudly started, we departed from the last youth hostel. I felt like I was going to choke. The drive was about an hour and a half, but it felt like five minutes to me. I just sat in my seat and panicked. From the moment I sat down, till the moment I stood up, I was shaking. I felt like I was experiencing an earthquake, and there was nothing I could do. I could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. My Personal Experiences In My Life Essay #1 Have you ever felt like life is difficult? Or not to your expectations? Chances are that we all have to deal with some difficult situations at times. When I was in Middle School I struggled to fit in with my classmates. I have always been quiet and just listened to their conversations. They always had so much to talk about and plans to see movies and other plans such as going to parties and other social gatherings. But I was never included or invited. I remember one day I came home and went straight to my room, laid down on my bed and cried. My mom came into my room and asked what was wrong. I told her what happened that made me feel very sad and cry. A girl in my group passed out invitations for her birthday party to everyone but me. My mother told me that if I had received the invitation for the birthday party I would probably be ignored and they would act like as if I wasn't there. And she also said "this is a life lesson that I want you to remember, when you invite someone make sure you include the whole group or invite privately. Then she told her story about not having time to be with friends. She came to Santa Barbara from Mexico when she was seventeen years old with her older sister. Conant, and immediately got a text from John, my boyfriend at the time, asking if I was at school because he wanted to meet up and have breakfast in the Cafeteria. We got cereal for breakfast and the school bell rang which meant we had to say goodbye and walk to class. But luckily later in the day, we had the same social studies teacher and period so we would see each other then. So far my day was going great. Our class was fourth period, right after his lunch and two periods before my lunch, so of course I was always hungry that period. Every step I took through that river against that huge current took a huge tole on me. I can't wait to see the faces that I have left behind on my journey. Just the thought of seeing them again gives me the strength to keep moving and to get out of these woods. I'm so overwhelmed with excitement but at the same time I have a part of me that is nervous. In a play such as Bus Stop by William Inge, this is especially important because Grace's Diner plays a primary role in the storytelling. Inge's use of the iconic American diner to tell his story is ingenious. Simply setting eyes on the set inevitably evokes pleasant feelings of familiarity and comfort in the minds of most audience members. A diner is a place where people gather; a place where individuals from different backgrounds share a similar experience. Therefore, most of the light would be generated from the lighting system in the theatre. It is imperative that the contrast between the diner and the harsh weather outside be evident from the start. This can be accomplished by presenting the windows piled with snow on the outside, almost to the top of the windows, as if a snow plow had pushed the snow up against them. The tops of the windows would appear to be covered in frost. • 34. Problems In New York City Essay New York City and its suburbs are world–renowned for many things. However, when it comes to bicycle integration with public transportation, New York City lies in the shadow of other cities such as Portland and San Francisco. In these cities, all public buses have bike racks, trains have bicycle storage, cyclists have access to secure parking at metro stations, and safe bikeways provide cyclists with a route to metro stations. All four of these characteristics are needed to foster a bicycle– friendly transit system. However, while New York City excels in certain areas of this criteria, it lacks bike racks on buses and secure bike parking at subway stations. These problems also persist in New York City's suburbs; however, the suburbs fall even farther behind the city due to their lack of safe bikeways. With careful planning, these problems can be solved. To fix the lack of secure parking at downtown metro stations, I suggest implementing bike lockers at large parking garages in the city. The lack of secure parking at suburban metro stations can be resolved with more bike lockers at city stations that serve suburban commuter routes. For the shortage of bike racks on city and suburban buses, the solution is to simply install more bike racks on these buses. Finally, the lack of safe bikeways in the suburbs can be resolved by building more bus stops closer to residential areas, which will reduce the need for cyclists to travel long distances on dangerous main roads. It recalls the eventful murders of Milly Dowler, Amélie Delagrange and Marsha McDonnell and the full life story of the serial killer Levi Bellfield. This book outlines the massive, tedious nine–year investigation by police and prosecutors into Levi Bellfield, his eventual arrest and trial. It tells of Bellfield's controlling, terrifying personality – "a man who went from charming to monstrous in a blink of an eye" – and his depraved stalking of young women. Levi Bellfield is the only man in modern British legal history to be given two separate whole life sentences. Ever since the genre of true crime began to rise in popularity in the United Kingdom, it was found that people find stories that include gorier details and more horrible acts of crime interesting as this seems to fascinate and excite the readers. • 37. The Runaway Narrative Essay Examples The Runaway– 3,000 words max. FIRST PERSONNNNN SLAM. The door frame sounds to struggle from concaving under the pressure of the overemotional hand. I stand. Dumb and appalled at the sight. Hysterically I see her fall to her knees with complete lack of control as horrifically ear piercing screams protrude from deep within her lungs. The scene is dramatic, and I suddenly realise why these kinds of scenes are made slow in movies. There's just so much happening that your brain literally slows the world down, in the most unattractively possessive moments possible. Yet, unfortunately, these moment ns weren't all entirely new to me. In fact, it happened quite regularly. See, there's this guy mum's dating; actually, they're kinda–sorta ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an instant, I find myself dragging myself back upstairs into my room, the dramatic atmosphere like in a movie surrounded me. I pull on my shoes and find myself then packing a bag. I wasn't sure what I was doing exactly, my body took control. I empty out my holiday savings into the bottom of my bag. Because, a girl like me doesn't own a purse or a handbag, or whatever you wanna call it. No, instead looking in the mirror, you can only tell I'm female by my long hair tied up messily in a tail like a horse. Curves are missing from my sides, as baggy tracksuits and jumpers replace it. I pull my backpack on, have one more look at myself and take off. Down the stairs I travel quietly, I grab my earphones and play my music. I pull the front door shut and locked. Then, I run. I don't exactly know where I'm to go. But I know I wanna go far. I don't know how to take a bus, or where it would even take me, but luckily enough a bus makes it to the bus stop on the top of the hill just as I arrive. I jump onto it and it takes me a few awkward moments to get the change out to pay, but it's not like anyone was on the bus in a rush anywhere, so it didn't really matter. Surprisingly enough, the bus driver wasn't so bad. I thought he'd ask questions but then again, he must see this kinda thing all the time. I lean against the window and see the empty streets and silent trees and lifeless houses pass me by. Music still in my ear, I find myself playing........ [Song ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Annabeth Alternate Ending Essay Annabeth After leaving the big house Percy and I went down to the lake and sat down at the end of the pier. No words were needed as we simply sat there with our fingers entwined and my head on his shoulder. Eventually we stood up and walked back towards the cabins. When we got to his cabin I gave him a peck on the cheek murmured a quick goodbye and headed to my cabin. Thankfully after everything that has happened, I had learned to keep a packed backpack at all times so I simply added a few more books and got ready for bed. ~Time skip Morning~ "I'm going to miss you guys," I said, trying not to tear up, as I gave one final hug to Malcolm, my slightly older half–brother. "No, I think it's mostly Nico," Thalia commented offhandedly as she pulled Piper and Nico to their feet. "I don't know about that, both of you are skin and bones," Annabeth said. "It's cause Pipes is a vegan,"Jason said simply. "Anyway how about we organize our stuff a bit and then go get our wands?" Percy suggested. Glancing around and seeing no one had any objections the group looked around the room and discovered that their stuff was nowhere to be seen. "Hello you lot," Greeted a witch who looked around Percy and Annabeth's age with honey blonde hair and dark blue eyes. "I'm Leanne Tinker, your the group from the states right?" She asked, glancing at the group seeing their nods she continued. "When you Portkey travel internationally you usually end up, knocked out for around half an hour, so we took the liberty of placing your stuff in your rooms. A couple of minutes after you lot landed your trunks arrived and we put those in your rooms as well. Now if you'll follow me." She finished leading them out of the room and into a dimly lit bar. "Uh, no offense, but this place looks awful," Leo said, with a glance around the place. It was true to the whole place was quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Where Worlds Collide By Pico Iyer "Where Worlds Collide" is an essay by Pico Iyer who talks about the expectations and reality of Los Angeles through the perspectives of travelers from different backgrounds. In "Where Worlds Collide," Pico Iyer argues that even though Los Angeles is depicted as a vicinity to receive wealth, happiness, and many opportunities– it is actually the antithesis, and instead, many harsh prejudice and unending craziness will occur instead; Iyer argues this by using allusions, anaphoras, and juxtapositions to help convey what he is saying. In the beginning of this passage, Iyer starts off with a lively and narrative tone to introduce a biblical allusion in the first paragraph; Iyer explains how many travelers come out from the airplane to reach their final destination, the "Promised Land." This allusion sparks an interest to the readers because Iyer is referring to the Los Angeles International Airport as the "Promised Land." Throughout the essay, Iyer refers to the LAX as the "Land of Opportunity" Iyer is using these two allusions to help paint a picture of what the LAX means to these naive travelers, a place filled with hopes and dreams. These allusions help correspond to the jubilance of the author's tone and helps keep the writing capture the author's passion about his story. Later in Iyer's passage, he uses anaphoras to help solidify the hectic attributes of the LAX, which contradicts the supposed "Promised Land." Iyer describes how the second thing that the travelers see is that "[i]n front of them is a Van Stop, a Bus Stop, a Courtesy Tram Stop, and a Shuttle Bus Stop..." (101). The repetition of "stop" is utilized to show that all of these "stops" are bombarding their way through towards the travelers– just as if everything is going out of control. The scenery that Iyer is depicting is about a hectic airport, not about a "Promised Land." Iyer includes more anaphoras as he talks about how "[t]hey have already braved the ranks of Asian officials, the criminal–looking security men in jackets... They already, perhaps, visited the restroom where someone has written, 'Yes on Proposition 187. Mexicans go home...'" (101). The anaphoras being used in this example shows the repetition of "they have" and the emphasis of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Short Story : ' The Clock Of Rain Drops Hitting The Window ' Will woke to the slow sound of rain drops hitting the window. He saw the lump in the bed next to his and wondered if his sister was still in bed. It looked like it. Slowly he swung his feet over the side of his bed and stood up, careful not to wake his sister. Looking back at her as he exited the room to go eat breakfast he saw that her dark curly brown hair was all in a mess and her tan skin was losing its brownish aspect. She did not have to wake up until 8 o 'clock for elementary school. He on the other hand had to get up at 6 to get ready for middle school. Downstairs at the table dad was making oatmeal and tea. Taking a cup Will asked "After school can I go to Ethan 's house" "Sure" replied Will 's dad "As long as you make sure that you arrive home tonight at 7 o 'clock." "I will" replied Will as he took a sip of his tea. Ethan was one of Will 's few friends and he lived in the neighborhood so Will normally got to go over there. Maybe they could even get to go to the soccer game tonight. All of the other group will be there too! He thought of Austin, Alex, Joey, Arin, Ashlee, and Bruce. He could not wait. The sound of someone walking down the steps alerted Will that his mom or sister was up. "Good morning" said Will 's mom as she sleepily walked through the kitchen. "Will you have to get going, to get going in 10 minutes, so hurry up and eat your breakfast." "Thanks mom" replies Will "I will go get my stuff together for school" The two parents look at each ... • 41. Metro Transit And The Better Bus Stop Engagement Essay Berry Farrington of Metro Transit and the Better Bus Stop Engagement Context "The bus stop is the front porch of the Metro Transit system," said Berry Farrington, senior planner at Metro Transit and the Better Bus Stops (BBS) project manager. It is certainly where many Minnesotans start their daily travels. Given the role of the bus stop, Metro Transit believes it is necessary to make these places "safe, secure, and comfortable" for their riders. The BBS engagement process began in March 2016 in an effort to not only add and improve bus shelters across Metro Transit's service area but to engage with its riders in order to develop better parameters and guidelines for future bus stop investments. The process will end in March 2017. The funding for the BBS engagement comes from a $3.26 million dollar Ladders of Opportunity Grant from the Federal Transit Administration for bus stop improvements that Metro Transit won in late 2014. Besides improving bus shelters and stops, Metro Transit also saw this grant as an opportunity to work towards the Metropolitan Council regional government's Thrive MSP 2040 plan objective of "raising awareness of the complex interdependencies of income, race, place and opportunity and to challenge both itself and others to think regionally and act equitably for a better region for all." The BBS process is also aimed at addressing Metro Transit's negative press from failing to appropriately balance its bus stop investments across its ridership. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
