1. University Libraries currently hold more
than 2.1 million volumes, approximately
16,000 current journal subscriptions, and
access to more than 20,000 full text
electronic journals.
2. Going to be up late
studying? The entire west
wing of Ekstrom Library is
open 24 hours a day,
seven days a week
throughout fall and spring
semesters!
3. Special Collections is the
treasure trove of Ekstrom
Library. Some of the
treasures include: the
original charter of the City
of Louisville (signed by
Thomas Jefferson), over
one million photographs
documenting life in
Louisville and Kentucky
and the world’s largest
institutional collection of
the works of Edgar Rice
Burroughs (creator of
Tarzan).
4. Do you need in-depth help with a paper
or project for class? A Research
Advisory Program (RAP) session gives
you one-on-one time with a research
librarian or archivist.
5. The University Archives &
Records Center has more
than 11,000 linear feet of
University records, personal
papers, and records of other
organizations. UARC also
holds a collection of over
1,300 oral history interviews,
as well as microfilms of
collections and newspapers
held elsewhere.
6. Need to type something for class?
The first floor of Ekstrom Library
has over 120 PC’s, laptops, and
iMac’s available for student use!
7. Ekstrom Library's
robotic retrieval
system (RRS), one of
only seven such
systems in U.S.
academic
libraries, allows
patrons to request
books effortlessly
directly from the
library's catalog.
8. Want a break from
studying? The Student
Government Video
Collection contains over
3,000 popular films on DVD
and VHS ...all of which can
be checked out by students
for free!
9. The University Writing Center provides
a comfortable place to write, to
collaborate with other writers, and to
use writing resources. If your having
trouble with a paper try scheduling an
appointment with a writing consultant.
10. The Digital Media Suite has
everything students need to create
multimedia class assignments. It
includes a green screen studio and
viewing room. Students can even
borrow video cameras!
Knowledgeable REACH tutors are
available to answer questions, help
with editing and provide
orientations.
