Dear Sir,
Problems faced by Residents of Taman Puteri Jaya
About 900 residents of Taman Puteri Jaya in Bedong have been plagued by a host of
problems over the past few weeks.
2. Rubbish has not been collect on a regular basis. The uncollected rubbish has attracted flies
and rodents. Even stray dogs and cats can be found foraging the food. The dogs rip open the
rubbish and scatter the rubbish over a large area. The problem is further exacerbated by
litterbugs. Plastic bags and other rubbish end up in drains. The clogged drains cause further
problems. The drains overflow whenever it rains. The rubbish also emits a foul stench.
3. The plastic bags and other styrofoam containers left lying around provide
ready receptacles for rainwater, and these becoming perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Thus, the potential threat of dengue arises.
4. The absence of street lights in the area has caused the area to be dark. Residents opine that
this has led to a rise in the number of accidents and motorcycles thefts. Unfortunately, the
number of snatch thefts have also gone up.
5. The playground has not been well-maintained. Equipment here is faulty. Parents are worried
that their children could be injured if they use the faulty playground equipment. There is also the
problem of overgrown grass which encourages stray animals and insects.
6. We have lodged several complaints with the local council but our complaints seem to

2. have fallen on deaf ears. We hope the town council will look into our complaints and take the
appropriate action. Thank you.
