Yourself
For business owners in any sized company,
you can make and save money by keeping
employees and you engaged.
You may feel that you no longer feel
passionate about your business or the product
or service you offer. A revamped offer, fresh
goals, new risks – these all have the potential to rekindle your enthusiasm in your business.
Today’s entrepreneurs must make it a priority to get to know their employees so they can provide
whatever is needed to keep their employees fully engaged in doing the job they do. When your
employees are engaged, then you are more engaged as well. This creates a win-win for everyone.
Get on the right path of motivating your employees. Here are a couple of steps to get you
started:
Let go of any negative opinions you may have about your employees. Think of them as
someone with something valuable to contribute to your company.
Make sure your employees have everything they need in order to do their jobs properly.
Ask them if they have everything they need to be as competent as they can be?”
Make sure that you set expectations and that your employees know what they are.
Employees cannot perform well if they don’t clearly know what is expected of them.
Communicate your expectations often.
Get to know your employees, their goals, what stresses them out, and what excites them.
Find out how they each define success.
Make sure they are properly trained to do the job you expect them to do. Train them in
problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Reward and recognize employees in ways that are meaningful to them. This is a good
reason why getting to know your employees is so important.
Be consistent over the long run. People do not like “flavor of the week” initiatives that get them
excited and then die out when a business owner gets tired of it. An owner’s ongoing commitment
to keeping employees engaged, involved in and excited about the work they do is a daily priority.
