Position: Sr. Technical Support Engineering Manager
 Management of technical support team, including planning and tracking of install and
upgrade projects, and resource allocation.
 Liaison on project planning, issue tracking and resolution at customers in several local
and international locations.
 Managed project planning and ongoing new development work for legacy calling card
customers (Cablevision, Dollar Phone).
Major Projects:
 Took over responsibility for and led release and deployment of new release to major
calling card customer (Cablevision) enabling new product offerings to be rolled out to
more than 3 million subscribers, resulting in increased revenues and major improvement
in customer retention.
Radisys Corporation, Hillsboro, OR (Marlboro, MA office) March 2009 - August 2013
Position: Sr. Manager, Development Engineering
 Management of geographically dispersed (India) engineering team, including
identification of projects, resource allocation, project planning and scheduling.
 Managed recruitment and hiring of team members in India as part of a strategic initiative
to reduce costs.
 Managed team deliverables and outcomes of this strategic investment.

Liaising with business development, marketing, CTO, quality assurance and professional
services groups on product development, integration and deliverables.
Liaison with many Tier 1 and Tier 2 service providers on product requirements and
deliverables.
Primary point of contact for second-level support escalations.

Major Projects:
 Led development and release of several major releases to key customers in various local
and international locations, enabling company presence in key international markets, and

 Led development and release of first Reservationless Conferencing release to Level 3

Position: Director of Platform Architecture
 Management of platform and applications engineering teams, including identification of
projects, resource allocation, project planning and scheduling.
 Liaising with business development, marketing, CTO, application development, quality
assurance and professional services groups on product development, integration and
deliverables.
 Liaison with Tier 1/Tier 2 service providers on product requirements and deliverables.
 Responsibility for management of engineering development for SIP-based application
server, which is made up of a number of components, including a core high-performance
real-time state machine (implemented in C++) which communicates internally with a
service creation environment, various IP media servers and Java-based Oracle and Web
interfaces, and externally with SIP softswitches.
 Responsibility for source code repository maintenance, build and release engineering.
 Primary point of contact for platform second-level support.
 Primary responsibility for platform load testing.
 Development and teaching of Platform Architecture and Service Creation Environment
course to several customer groups.
 Primary responsibility for Conferencing application product development.

 Led requirements analysis, and development work through design, integration,
verification and delivery of several conferencing product deliverables to major
customers, enabling achievement of revenue recognition goals.
 Personally responsible for design, MIB development, specification, development and
deployment of PCS and SIP SNMP agent (including SNMP notification functionality).
 In-depth work on various high-availability / failover systems, including Veritas, RedHat
clustering and piranha.
 Led integration testing of SIP/MSCML media servers, broadening deployment
opportunities for company products.
 Led setup and integration of voicemail servers, which were a key part of the broadband
product offering and facilitated sales opportunities.
 Led engineering for second site development for major Conferencing customer, allowing
them to expand into additional markets and increase product revenue.

Provided overall personnel, resource and planning management for engineering and

 Led implementation of formal change control, quality assurance and release processes,
thus improving schedule and quality of engineering deliverables.
 Development and implementation of updated interactive voice response system
functionality (using Natural Microsystems AG-T1 switching boards).
 Addition of mobile user credit-card-recharge functionality.
Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa
April 1994 to April 1999
Position: Director, Information Technology
 Development and support of campus IT infrastructure, including all local and longdistance internet and intranet links, hardware (Sun servers and workstations, Novell
servers, PCs, networking hubs and cabling) and software (office applications, systems
and networking, various specialist applications).
 Responsibility for IT sections (50 staff members) which included information systems
development, systems, networking, user support, LAN support, computer-based
education, electronic services, operations, data capture, and equipment purchasing.
 Management of several million Rand yearly IT budget, resources and staff.
 Served on several institutional executive bodies, including Council and Senate.
Major Projects:
 Successfully managed University administrative systems conversion from legacy CDC
Cobol systems to Progress, allowing for major cost savings and improved agility in
meeting changing internal customer requirements.
 Championed and led deployment of 1600-point campus-wide network installation, which
resulted in many improvements in internal processes, and resultant time and cost savings.
 Initiated and led conversion of University internet access from an inefficient and
expensive academic-based network to cost-effective commercial networks, saving several
hundred thousand Rand per year.
 Design and implementation of web access resource control system.
 Led projects to implement international network access for educational institutions in
several African countries.
