Management of technical support team, including planning and tracking of install and
upgrade projects, and resource allocation.
Liaison on project planning, issue tracking and resolution at customers in several local
and international locations.
Managed project planning and ongoing new development work for legacy calling card
customers (Cablevision, Dollar Phone).
Major Projects:
Took over responsibility for and led release and deployment of new release to major
calling card customer (Cablevision) enabling new product offerings to be rolled out to
more than 3 million subscribers, resulting in increased revenues and major improvement

Development and support of campus IT infrastructure, including all local and longdistance internet and intranet links, hardware (Sun servers and workstations, Novell
servers, PCs, networking hubs and cabling) and software (office applications, systems
and networking, various specialist applications).
Responsibility for IT sections (50 staff members) which included information systems
development, systems, networking, user support, LAN support, computer-based
education, electronic services, operations, data capture, and equipment purchasing.
Management of several million Rand yearly IT budget, resources and staff.
Served on several institutional executive bodies, including Council and Senate.
Major Projects:
Successfully managed University administrative systems conversion from legacy CDC
Cobol systems to Progress, allowing for major cost savings and improved agility in
meeting changing internal customer requirements.
Championed and led deployment of 1600-point campus-wide network installation, which
resulted in many improvements in internal processes, and resultant time and cost savings.
Initiated and led conversion of University internet access from an inefficient and
expensive academic-based network to cost-effective commercial networks, saving several
hundred thousand Rand per year.
