1. Qur’an- is a bible that the Muslims follow. The Muslims act and live the way it tells them
to in the Qur’an. Muhammad told his friends and when he died they made it into a book.
Five Pillars- the first one is “The Testimony of Faith”, it’s a saying which is “There is no
true god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.” It means God is the only
one who should be worshipped, and Muhammad is the one who told everyone about God
from what an angle said. The second thing is “Prayer”. They do five prayers a day, but it
does not take more than a few minutes to say. The third thing is “Giving Zakat”.
Sometimes people give away their money to charity, but if someone gets paid less than
you, you have to put more money. The fourth is “Fasting the Month of Ramadan”.
Every year in a special month they go like a whole month without eating, and drinking
from morning until night. The fifth “The Pilgrimage to Makkah”. People have to go
walking from their house bear foot, and still stay there for like a week. Everyone has to
go for at least one a life time, but if you’re in a wheel chair you don’t have to.
Role of Muhammad- he was a chosen one by an angle to tell the whole world about a
little story about the past which is now called the Qur’an. He told all his friends and
followers before he died.
Role of Women in Society- they had to do house work like milking the cows, washing
clothes, and take care of kids. They were not allowed to have any type of job. If they
wanted to go out of their house, they had to be covered all their body.
Shiite- they began as a political movement. A political movement is a group of people
who disagreed about a subject. At first the movement supported Ali who was related to
Muhammad. Muhammad was interested in Islam. Some Shiites are located in Iran.
Sunni- they were type of Muslim. They believed in the same thing as the Shiites. Sunnis
are located in Kuwait.
