Rick Polson was an Account Executive at several broadcast facilities in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Boston, Massachusetts;
and Tampa Bay, Florida – selling, writing, and producing ads for numerous industries.He also was an on- air participant
in some locations. Rick as a Public Relations Manager for an international computer product manufacturer and
distributor, he was deeply involved in branding global product lines. He also have advertising agency experience,
involved with all aspects of client relations and placement of marketing programs.
"Imagine your company has a Facebook page. Consist ency st art s wit h f inishing t he page. Many times, I have
found a company’s page barely started. Make sure you have the 20 to 60 minutes to complete all the portions of the
page. Include the basic company pictures, videos and a direct way for them to get in touch with you (a website and/or
email address with a phone number). The content can always change or improve, but do not leave it blank. Do not look
bad during your first day on Facebook.Imagine your company is open 8 am to 8 pm Monday thru Friday and Saturday 8
am until Noon.
Consider spending 30 minut es on Sunday (or very early Monday morning) to script the upcoming week’s
messages. Find a few news articles you can use as reference materials and jot down some topics about your company.
List the day or days for using the information and what time of day to use it. Save these notes for future reference
because you can use the same information at different times on different days during the same week." Chapter 17 Social Media.
By programing your ef f ort s into a pattern of searching and posting the information, your success will come from the
consistency of your information quality and timeliness.By scheduling the times you post the information during your work
week, your followers will expect to see information from you at the same times they check their social media sites.
People are creat ures of habit . Most people will check the same sites at about the same time of day, especially
outside of their working hours. If your there consistently when they are looking, you will build a relationship.
Since it takes just a f ew minut es t o copy and past e your post to the different sites you choose, you will have the
rest of the 30 or so minutes you have set aside for your social media to answer e- mails, comments on posts and other
matters involved in being "Social". Again the consistency wins the followers.
