How to perform the Islamic prayer

Prayer( Solat) is second in priories among the Islamic Pillars “On the authority of Abu Abdul Rahmaan Abdullah (r), the son of Umar ibn al-Kattaab (r) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: ‘Islam is built upon five [pillars]: testifying that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayers, giving zakat, making pilgrimage to the House and fasting the month of Ramadan.’” (Recorded in Bukhari and Muslim) In the following slides we will explain how to pray.
  3. 3. Face the Qiblah (toward Mecca)Make sure you’re in a clean area.Now you are about to start one of the following prayers: 1st prayer (Subh), 2nd prayer (Dhuhr), 3rd (Asr), 4th (Maghrib), 5th (Ishaa).Note that all of these prayers are obligatory.
  4. 4. "AllahuStart the prayer raising both hands up close to your ears. Akbar“The palms of your hands should be open and say: "Allahu Akbar“ Translation: (God is Most Great). Note that you have started your prayer. Always lower your eyes to the point that will meat your head when you prostrate to the ground.
  5. 5. Reciting Lower your hands and put one hand on the Fate’ha and other hand between your chest and upper short Sura stomach, and start reciting surat “al fatiha”, say “ameen” once you finish it. And then start reciting another small surat. ( Note that you are still standing) Please note that you can’t start in your own mother tongue, you can pass the meaning s on your heart till you learn every word by heart
  6. 6.  Once you finish reciting, raise your hands up to the ears, saying "Allahu Akbar."Bow (your hands on your knees, back straight, your Subhana rabbiyal face toward the ground, saying three times, adheem Transliteration : "Subhana rabbiyal adheem" Meaning: (Glory be to my Lord Almighty). This position is called (ruku’).   7. 7. "Sami’a Allahu Rise back to standing while saying liman hamidah, Rabbana wa "Sami’a Allahu liman hamidah, lakal hamd" Rabbana wa lakal hamd" Translation (God hears those who call upon Him; Our Lord, praise be to You).
  8. 8.  Raise hands up, saying "Allahu Akbar“ Descend to the ground while your face on the ground, say three times “ Subhana Transliteration: Subhana Rabbiyal Aala" Rabbiyal Aala Meaning : (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High). This position is called “sujud”
  9. 9. Then prostrate back on the ground (this is the second time you do it), while your face on the ground say three times "Subhana Rabbiyal Aala“You have to sit a while ( till you rest) between the two prostrations and even between every two RakasYou have now finished the first RakaStand up saying "Allahu Akbar“Note that you will do the second Raka ( and even all Rakas ) in the same way.
  10. 10. you are now have done the first two Raka.If you are doing two-raka salat, recite full Tushhid ( see itin the end of this presentation)When you finish turn your face to the right and say"Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah" (Peace be upon youand Gods blessings), and turn to the left and say the same“Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah".
  11. 11. If you are doing four- Raks Salat, just recite half of theTushhid after the first two rakasthen stand up saying Allah Wa Akbar and do theprevious steps in the two remaining Rakas and read FullTushhid at the end of the final Raka. Info@knowmohammed.com

The first half of Tushhid ( Transliteration and Translation)Tahiyyaatu lilaahi was Salawaatu All greetings, blessings and goodwat tayibaatu acts are from You, my Lord.As Salaamu alaika ayyuhan Greetings to you, O Prophet, andnabiyyu wa rahmatul laahi wa the mercy and blessings of Allah.barakaatuh Peace be unto us, and unto theAs Salaamu alainaa wa alaa righteous servants of Allah.ebaadillaahis saaliheen, I bear witness that there is none(Hands on knees, raise right worthy of worship except Allah.forefinger:) Ash hadu allaa ilaah And I bear witness thatilallaah Muhammad is His servant andWa ash hadu anna Muhammadan messenger.abduhuu wa rasuuluh

The second half of Tushhid(The first half of Tushhid ( Transliteration and Translation) )Allaahumma salli alaa O Allah, bless our Muhammad andMuhammadin wa alaa ali the people of Muhammad;Muhammadin As you have blessed Abraham andKamaa sallaita alaa Ibraaheema the people of Abraham.wa alaa ali Ibraaheema Surely you are the Praiseworthy,Innaka hameedun Majeed the Glorious.Alaahumma baarik ala O Allah, be gracious untoMuhammadin wa alaa ali Muhammad and the people ofMuhammadin Muhammad;Kamaa baarakta alaa Ibraaheema As you were gracious untowa alaa ali Ibraaheema Abraham and the people ofInnaka hameedun Majeed Abraham. Surely you are the Praiseworthy
