Educators Evening Beyond Planet Earth
New Visions Campus Librarians Network
The Campus Librarians Network meeting was on December 14, 2011. During the meeting, we
worked collaboratively to align the Danielson Librarian rubric with the School Library Services
Reflective Practice rubric. Additionally, we reviewed the Best Websites for Teaching and Learning
created by the American Association of School Librarians. Lastly, we focused on the NYC
Information Fluency Continuum alignment with the NYS Common Core States Standards in
literacy. Our next meeting is on January 25th, 2012. Winners for the eReader grant will be
announced at this meeting.
Educator’s Evening @ AMNH
Several times throughout the year, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) organizes an
evening, presenting their new exhibit, just for teachers. This evening celebrated Beyond Planet
Earth: The Future of Space Exploration. The exhibit speculates on our next steps into the solar
system. The event is free and AMNH is an amazing resource we can use throughout the year. It
was great to see teachers from AMS and MHBX at the event as well.
Website Updates
The library website (tinyurl.com/bathgatelibrary) has updated links for the following
• Student Research and Databases
• College and Career Resources
• AMS Literature Blog
REACH grant
We submitted a Library REACH (Revitalizing Education for Adolescents and Children) grant. This
grant will provide the winners (hopefully us) with $10,000 to update our Library Management
Software and buy new desktops. We will find out if we received the grant before the end of the
January.
Library Closing
The library is closed from 2:10- 2:55. Students should not be in the library, with or without a
teacher, at this time and classes will not be scheduled. This is the only recovery (restocking
shelves, circulation, cataloguing, computer maintenance) time built into the schedule.
