6. Cascading Windows vs Tabs
In Version 14.0, there is a tab for each open window for moving easily from one screen to another.
7. Primary Phone Number
Functionality
• Registration was enhanced to enable you to select a primary phone number
(home, work, or cell) for a patient and each of the contacts associated with the
patient.
• Windows throughout the application that display phone numbers were updated
to indicate which phone number is the primary number.
• Some windows that did not display a cell phone number now include that
number along with the home and work phone numbers.
• New primary phone number selection boxes were added to the Patient and
Account tabs in Registration.
• Cell phone number is displayed in areas of the application that previously only
displayed home and work phone numbers.
• A primary phone number icon is displayed throughout the application, including
applicable companion windows.
• Primary Tel# was added as a search option in Patient Lookup.
• The existing search option Telephone No. was changed to Home Tel#.
8. New History Tab in Registration
The History Tab tracks all changes made in Registration, including when a patient is created.
9. PHI Tracking and Inquiry
Version 14.0 supports more comprehensive auditing of Protected Health Information (PHI).
All access to PHI is now recorded.
For those with security rights, a PHI Inquiry option will be available under the Patient Management Option.
Editor's Notes
NOTE:
All primary phone number indicators are initially blank.
New practice options or organization options are not selected.
In Registration, the contacts grid on the Account tab and the Account Information grid on the Summary tab have not been updated to show work and cell phone numbers or the primary phone number icon.
Potential Patient Information, Enterprise Access Directory (EAD) windows and EAD Search By options in Patient Lookup, Transfer Patient, and Guarantor Lookup were not updated with any primary phone number functionality.
If you have your application set up to do enterprise searches, when Primary Tel# or Home Tel# is selected as a Search By filter, Enterprise Search is unavailable.
Outbound demographic messages were not updated to include primary phone indicators because Allscripts Professional EHR and Allscripts TouchWorks EHR do not currently have primary phone number indicators.
General views were not updated to include a primary phone number indicator.
Changes to Practice Options and Organization Options in version 14.0Two new entries, Patient Primary Phone and Contact Primary Phone were added to Patient Registration Required Fields. Each entry has the standard Require and Skip options, but you cannot select both options for the same entry.
If you select Require for Patient Primary Phone, operators must select the patient's home, work, or cell phone number as the primary phone number.
If you select Skip for Patient Primary Phone, operators are not required to select a primary phone number for the patient, and the primary phone indicator boxes are skipped when you use the Tab key to navigate through Registration.
Changes to Registration in Version 14.0Check boxes were added to the right of the home, work, and cell phone number on the Patient tab in Registration to enable you to select a primary phone number for a patient.
Similarly, check boxes were added to the Account tab to enable you to select a primary phone number for each of the contacts associated with the patient.
You do not have to indicate a primary phone number unless Patient Primary Phone or Contact Primary Phone in Practice Options or Organization Options has Required selected.
Only one phone number (home, work, or cell) can be the primary phone number.
If no phone number was entered, or if the phone number format is not valid, you cannot select the primary indicator for that number.
After you select a primary phone number, the primary phone number icon is displayed by that phone number in various windows throughout the application.
The contact grid on the Account tab continues to display only the home phone number without the primary phone number icon.
Changes to Patient Lookup in 14.0
Changes were made to Patient Lookup to support primary phone number functionality. These changes do not apply to Enterprise Access Directory (EAD) searches. The Telephone No search option was changed to Home Tel#.
The functionality has not changed; it still searches on the home telephone number entered in Registration.
Additionally, a new search option, Primary Tel#, is available. These changes apply to the Search By options as well as the boxes in the Advanced Search area.
Certificate No in the Advanced Search area was moved under Enterprise Number to accommodate the addition of Primary Tel#.
A primary telephone number search looks for patients who have a home, work, or cell phone number that is marked as the primary phone number in Registration and matches the value.
