Product Safety Engineer
Provided expertise for compliance group with self-certification status from UL and CSA in EN 60950
and associated standards for three phase mainframe ITE at 30 to 60 kW level and related factory and
customer support. Design evaluation at concept review, performed testing including air and water
cooled high end product and provided required process for witness testing from CSA and UL for CB
Certification and worldwide variations. Created UL, CSA and CB reports and related documentation.
Assembled and programmed digital pressure transducer and meter for pressure testing of water
cooled system, certified under ISO 17025.

Principal Product Safety Engineer.
Provided design support to 12 development engineering teams for various product lines and obtained
all worldwide safety approvals. Conducted full test program at the Sun safety lab for each product.
Product sales area included over 30 countries. Charged with providing support and international
safety certifications for development product groups; factory support for agency audits and updates of
safety requirements for 12 factories in 5 countries. Highlights:
Created online safety guideline document for quick reference to design engineers.
Obtained agreement from CQC, a government regulatory agency in China, that dc-dc converters
rated less than 48VDC would not require CB certification or reports, resulting in substantial cost
and time savings.
Created factory audit guideline for CCC audits from the CQC in China that was accepted and
authorized by the CQC for their quality and regulatory control in manufacturing.
Developed process for certifying supercapacitors under UL810A standard to expedite the process
and reduce approval time period.

Senior Regulatory Engineer. Established safety department for new desktop product line,
including construction of safety test lab. Sent to Tokyo to provide assistance to laser printer vendor in
obtaining NCDRH registration in the US. Trained DEC engineers from Hong Kong and Taiwan in
product safety requirements, testing and approvals then returned with them to assist in the construction
of test labs and provided test procedure training.

Hazardous Locations Equipment Certifications Test Engineer. Design evaluation,
testing, certifications and factory follow-up inspections for various manufacturers equipment for
use in hazardous locations under NFPA 70. Additional responsibilities included lab management,
budgeting and forecast and customer support.
