WHAT IS ROBOTIC ARM?
 It is an artificial developed structure to ease complex tasks.
 It is used to pick up heavy loads and to do complex tasks with
perfection and speed.
 A robot also called a droid, is a machine especially one
programmable by a computer capable of carrying out a complex
series of action automatically.
ADVANTAGES
 High degree of perfection which leads to high accuracy.
 Greater efficiency.
 Decreased production cost.
 Increases rate of production per time.
 Improves quality and reliability of production as it voids human errors.
 Decreases required space for the same outcome.
 Better utilization of material, which reduces waste.
 Increases safety.
 Multitasking is possible with liability.
DRAWBACKS
 It requires big capital.
 It is limited to its specifically programmed tasks only.
 Operator needs to be trained to operate it.
 In some applications like medical, patients will be scared from it. So it is not
so reliable for these type of applications.
 It is limited to perform tasks to its coverage area only.
APPLICATIONS
 For pick and place applications
 For spraying paints for decoration purposes
 For welding purposes
 Drilling purposes
 Medical applications
CONSTRUCTION
Apparatus:
Servo Motor
Connection wire
Cardboard
Arduino UNO
Electromagnet
Threads
DC Power supply
BASIC LAYOUT
 We are using 4 Servo Motor in this Project.
 For body structure we are using Cardboard.
 For programing of Arduino we are use Arduino IDE software.
 For power supply we are using 9V DC supply.
 For movement of robotic arm we are using servo motors.
SERVO MOTOR
 It is the most important part for robotic arm.
 It gives rotational motion to specified angle.
 This angle can be made by giving specific value
of voltage pulse width.
 In industries servo motor is used which gives
higher accuracy.
 It rotates parts of machine with high efficiency
and precaution.
 Now servo motor is also available with 360°
degree rotation.
TYPES OF SERVO MOTOR
I. DC Servo Motor
II. AC Servo Motor
III. Positional Servo motor
IV. Continuous Rotation Servo Motor
V. Linear Servo Motor
WORKING OF SERVO MOTOR
• Servo motor is a close loop servo mechanism that use position
feedback to control its motion and final position.
• The motor is paired with some type of encoder to provide position and
speed feedback.
• The measured output compared with commander If the output
signal is different from required position An error signal will
generated which causes to rotate motor in either of the direction.
• When outer shaft will get its required position then error signal will be
zero so that motor will stop.
• In this way the Servo Motor work.
