Essay on Appreciating Mom
Growing Lily
At age three I said "I love you mommy." At age seven I said, "Mom, stop kissing my cheek!" At age
fifteen I say, "You're so annoying– I can't wait to move out!" At age eighteen, I'll be saying "I miss
home." At age twenty–seven I'll be saying "I miss my mom." At age forty I'll be saying "I miss you
so much; I wish you didn't have to go." My mom is the sun to my shine. My mother is a hard worker.
She loves what she does for a living. She does arrangements for peoples' houses. I've seen her
work from 7 a.m. to midnight at times. The hard work pays off but most of her earnings go to bills
or groceries. When she has a new project, she goes shopping for flowers to make what mental image
she has in her into reality. The...show more content...
She has the power to make you smile when you're down, make you cry by telling a story, keep you
under control when you're too rowdy and get angry when needed. Family is an important thing to my
mother. She loves to spend as much time as she can with them. She believes in the Hawaiian
saying, "Ohanna: Nobody gets left behind." This past summer we went on a cruise ship. The
whole side of my mom's family had gone. I enjoyed my time there, especially when we arrived in
Cozumel, MX. One of the most embarrassing things that could happen to me frightened my mom
to death. Purging is said to make you lose weight. The banging on the restroom door startled me
knowing I would be caught. From that point on she took extra care of my health. Looking after
what I ate, when I should exercise etc. When I was fourteen, my parents and I made a deal that if I
lost twenty pounds, I would be able to get my first tattoo. She supported me with it, thus, me losing
the weight. Not everyone grows up with manners. I have a high tolerance for respect. Growing up
going to church every Sunday due to my mom helped me adapt to maturity. Not that I'm highly
bipolar, but I do lose my temper really drastically. I've been taught by my mom to forgive and
forget. Through the worst of her times that people have put her through; she forgives. She tells me
I have the blood of my dad seeing as how I will always hold a grudge towards someone no matter
what. I know my mom wants the best for her kids,

Motherhood and Pregnancy
" Being a Motherhood is a choice you make every day, to put someone else's happiness and
well–being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you're not
sure what the right thing is...and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything
wrong." MMMMM. Being mother is one of the most blessed and the most challenging job in the
world. Giving birth to a new life and making it walk through the new world holding its hands
showing a good trail makes a mother victorious in her life. In this modern world women's attitude
against pregnancy and being a mother is changing accordingly. There occurs so many miscarriages
and maternal death during the pregnancy. A woman should be physically, and more over

Unawareness about the contraceptive methods, lack of knowledge about sexuality and the
traditional believes are the main reason for the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy in
developing countries such as India. Teenage is a life period during which a girl continues her
growth showing drastic changes in her body structure building herself to be a woman. Thus
bearing a baby during this time period is unhealthy to both the mother and the child. Teenage
mother need to face so many challenges and risk to have a baby. Teenage pregnancy is not such
an easy process firstly, because teenage girls are not much matured enough to take care of their
health during the pregnancy period, mainly due to the lack of awareness. In the journal "Hospital
based outcomes and complications in teenage pregnancy in India" it is said that early pregnancy
will cause damage to the reproductive tract, pregnancy related complications, such as anemia which
makes the delivery process tougher. The less providing of malnutrition makes their body weak to
nurture a life inside them. This state of affairs will lead to have a higher rate of instrumental
delivery and cesarean. This unhealthy nature of the mother will affect the birth of the baby in many
ways. They are mostly preterm birth that is giving birth to a premature baby without completing the
full time period of 9 month pregnancy. Neonatal death, death of a baby within 28 days

Essay about Mother-daughter Relationships
The relationship between parents and their children is one of the most basic human interactions.
Mothers and daughters provide both physical and emotional care for their young sons and
daughters. In the process, parents will instill children with family values and goals, while teaching
them the accepted norms and values of society. This is done in hope that parents will one day see
their own children become mature adults, with their own goals and purposes in life.
Mother–daughter relationships can be complex, but also filled with compassion and love. Mothers
and daughters often seem farther away from each other than they really are. Usually when a girl goes
through adolescence, the relationship between her and her mother begin to...show more content...
I started keeping things from my mom and not talking to her as much. We were growing apart and
we both knew it, but I didn't know what to do. It seemed like I wanted to keep things to myself and
I just wanted my own privacy. Girls at their most vulnerable time reject the help of the one person
who wants most to understand their needs. Erin also says "I didn't get along with my mom at all. I
would go to school and then when I came home, I'd lock myself in my room. I just didn't want to
see her or deal with her. It wasn't like I hated her, I was just going through a lot and didn't know
how to express myself, other than to 'hide' from everyone." Girls truly desire strong ties with their
mothers, but many times it's hard to figure out how to maintain these ties with their them.
Mothers also feel helpless during these times, not knowing what to say or do, afraid that their
daughters would just become more and more upset and angry with them. #My mother, Cathy, has
said that with both my sister and I, she has #"felt like my kids were beginning to need me less and
less and I just feel helpless." Sometimes mothers feel like they can't help their daughter, they feel
like they are the cause of all their problems. Cathy also agrees. #"I did feel like I caused many
problems in both of my daughters lives and even with the problems I knew I wasn't the cause of, I
just felt that if I tried to help in any way, then I would only be making things worse." Teen girls also

Characteristics Of My Mother
True Colours
4a) My Mom is gold because she embraces the concepts of family and religion very seriously. My
family origin is Sri Lanka and one of the main languages spoken there is Tamil. In Canada, the main
language spoken is English, which I speak at home and school. My parents communicate in English,
however they also speak Tamil. My Mom doesn't want me to forget the Sri Lankan culture, so every
night we watch Tamil shows on TV, together as afamily. She believes that by listening to Tamil
everynight I won't forget the language. This make her an effective parent because she wants me to
know another language which will help me in the future. By knowing another language, it is easier
to communicate with relatives.
Gold describes my Mom because she is polite. My Mom always uses her manners no matter
where she goes. For example, if someone holds the door for her she will say thank you. When she
receives a gift she doesn't like, she always says ''Thank you'' because she doesn't want to hurt the
other person's feelings. She is always polite to elders and will listen attentively to their opinions,
even if she doesn't approve of them. This characteristic of my Mom, makes her an effective parent
because she is teaching me how I should behave in society. For example, when I speak to elders, I
would stand up and speak to them, in order to show my respect. Her polite actions positively
influence the choices I make in life.
My Mom is Gold because she is extremely organized

Essay on Working Mothers
It is often said that, "Man's work ends at sun set. Women's work is never done." With
sixty–three million women working and 62% of those women maintaining families, most women
would this statement very true (AFL–CIO). While women are expanding their lives to include a
career, they must also maintain their traditional roles at home. This combination of housework and
career–work is the reason why working mothers today have more stress than working fathers.
Mothers may work in an office from nine to five, but their work does not end at the office. After
working an eight–hour day, a mother will come home to take care of her children, husband, and
house. Women remain the primary caretaker and housekeeper...show more content...
Also, since husbands generally work eight more hours a week than their wives do, they tend to miss
out on responsibilities, such as feeding their children dinner and breakfast. "Men miss out on
meal chores and those tend to be very stressful" says Dr. Barnett (Kelly). More often than not,
women's work interferes with family while for men family interferes with work (Bianchi 171). This
is because women tend to put family first, and therefore, they feel extra pressure to do well for their
family when coming home from work. This feeling only adds to a working mother's stress.
Taking care of the elderly is very similar to the demand of taking care of one's children (Bianchi
180). With women now having children later in life, they find themselves responsible for the care of
their young children and elderly parents, if they require care, at the same time. One–half of elderly
peoples' caregivers work outside of the home and one quarter of them have children at home who
require care (Garrett). Whether your parents are living in a nursing facility or at home, it is
undeniable the amount of work it takes to care for a loved one. Many elderly people require
assistance with medication, eating, and bathing as well as a long list of simple every day tasks.
For anyone this is a pretty big responsibility, but imagine caring for a person in such a manner along
with caring for one's home and family.

Mothers & Daughters Essay
Mothers and daughters have been written about, criticized, publicized, condemned, and praised for a
long time. As more and more material becomes available on mother–daughter relationships, it
becomes apparent that being a mother and being a daughter means different things to different
people depending on race, economics, social status and blood type. This paper will explore the
meaning of being a mother and being a daughter by combining all of these independent variables. A
definition of motherhood and daughterhood will be clearer, however, as experience will tell us, not
everyone can be categorized, or even explained.
In "Choosing Consciousness", Elizabeth Minnich describes mothers as:
".The people who take day–by–day...show more content...
It is not until the end of the story that Annie realizes that her mother was only acting on what her
conception of motherhood embraced; once a daughter reached a certain age, she was to start her
own life, evolving into her own identity.
Susan Walters also discusses the concept of mothers enabling theirdaughters to grow into women,
while sending them off to experience independence and break ties with their family. Her article
emphasizes societies need for daughters to emerge from their mothers' care and create their own
lives, instead of keeping close ties with each other. In this case a mother is only a notch on the totem
pole of their daughter's life.
The existence as a daughter has been explored in depth as well. Is a daughter just an extension of
her mother or is she an individual paired with someone to facilitate her emergence into the real
world? Is she a friend or is she a student?
This central idea is explored in the Walters article as well. A story included in the article suggested
that a daughter not be afraid to become affiliated with her mother. She said that "the sacrament
of 'separation'" from her mother was based on society's perpetualization that a daughter must
become independent from her mother and that a fondness for her mother was simply a clinging that
wasn't natural or healthy. However, a kinship with a mother is the most natural occurrence

Becoming a Teenage Mother Essay
Shyla Henry September 11, 2012 Becoming a Teenage Mother I never thought having
unprotected sex would lead to a teen pregnancy. However, I was wrong. Being young, immature,
and thinking I was invincible led me to becoming a teenage mother. The disbelief came first,
followed quickly by panic, before the realization and acceptance arrived. I had sex and I had to be
mature and deal with the consequences and grow up faster than most teenagers. The days of my
carefree teen life are now behind me as I tend to my eight month old son's every need. At first,
finding out I was pregnant was a devastating shock to not only myself but everyone around me. I
was only eighteen and was a senior in high school. I had such high expectations for myself....show

I woke my boyfriend up and called my mother and we rushed to the hospital. I was nervous and
excited at the same time. After eight hours of labor, the baby wasn't cooperating at all. I wouldn't
dilate past eight and I already had three epidurals. I was in so much pain. After being in labor for
twenty three hours, the doctors said it was time for a cesarean. I was so scared. All of a sudden, I
heard my son screaming. My heart melted and I couldn't keep the tears from coming. That was
the best moment of my life. Justin and I named our son, Bentley Michael McCartney. He weighed
eight pounds and thirteen ounces and he was twenty one inches tall. He was beautiful and
healthy. Seeing my son made me realize that I was now an adult and I would be the best mother I
possibly could be. Becoming a teenage mother is more difficult then most teenagers realize. I go
to college, work, clean and cook, and take care of my family. I love Bentley with all of my heart
and wouldn't trade him for anything. However, if I waited to have Bentley, I would be done with
college and not have to worry or struggle. I encourage young teenage girls to use protection and
wait to have children. Life with a child is very hard. However, I wouldn't have my life any other

Narrative Essay : My Mom
For this narrative, I interviewed my mom, Amanda Lopez. At first, she seems mean. That's very
blunt but it's true. My mom is a very guarded and self–reserved person. She does have manners and
she is nice but, she won't open up immediately to a new person. She is also very hard working and
independent. She wasn't born with these qualities, she went through a lot of different struggles, but
that's how she ended up where she is today.
My mom didn't have a very good high school experience. Her mom always moved, which caused
her to move. Which caused her to have few friends. She never participated in sports or arts. She
mostly focused on her home life and school. Her mom never really supported her. When asked about
the future, she state "I never thought about the future, it was more of a day by day, moment by
moment kind of thing. How am I going to pay for this and when will I get my homework done?"
My mom had to buy her own clothes, pay the rent at her mom's house, and juggle school work. So,
as you can imagine, she had a lot on her plate. Although, she did have support from her aunt and
uncle. But, she still had to do a lot of things on her own. "Aunt Terri and I would go to her parent's
house and hang out on the farm. We would do every day normal stuff like baking and knitting."
Essentially, Aunt Terri was the mom she never had, she taught her basic skills and gave her tips on
different things. "They were the ones that came to my volleyball games and made cupcakes for the

  • 3. Essay about Mother-daughter Relationships The relationship between parents and their children is one of the most basic human interactions. Mothers and daughters provide both physical and emotional care for their young sons and daughters. In the process, parents will instill children with family values and goals, while teaching them the accepted norms and values of society. This is done in hope that parents will one day see their own children become mature adults, with their own goals and purposes in life. Mother–daughter relationships can be complex, but also filled with compassion and love. Mothers and daughters often seem farther away from each other than they really are. It wasn't like I hated her, I was just going through a lot and didn't know how to express myself, other than to 'hide' from everyone." Girls truly desire strong ties with their mothers, but many times it's hard to figure out how to maintain these ties with their them. Sometimes mothers feel like they can't help their daughter, they feel like they are the cause of all their problems. • 5. Essay on Working Mothers It is often said that, "Man's work ends at sun set. Women's work is never done." With sixty–three million women working and 62% of those women maintaining families, most women would this statement very true (AFL–CIO). While women are expanding their lives to include a career, they must also maintain their traditional roles at home. This combination of housework and career–work is the reason why working mothers today have more stress than working fathers. Mothers may work in an office from nine to five, but their work does not end at the office. After working an eight–hour day, a mother will come home to take care of her children, husband, and house. Women remain the primary caretaker and housekeeper...show more content... Also, since husbands generally work eight more hours a week than their wives do, they tend to miss out on responsibilities, such as feeding their children dinner and breakfast. "Men miss out on meal chores and those tend to be very stressful" says Dr. Barnett (Kelly). More often than not, women's work interferes with family while for men family interferes with work (Bianchi 171). This is because women tend to put family first, and therefore, they feel extra pressure to do well for their family when coming home from work. This feeling only adds to a working mother's stress. Taking care of the elderly is very similar to the demand of taking care of one's children (Bianchi 180). With women now having children later in life, they find themselves responsible for the care of their young children and elderly parents, if they require care, at the same time. One–half of elderly peoples' caregivers work outside of the home and one quarter of them have children at home who require care (Garrett). Whether your parents are living in a nursing facility or at home, it is undeniable the amount of work it takes to care for a loved one. Many elderly people require assistance with medication, eating, and bathing as well as a long list of simple every day tasks. For anyone this is a pretty big responsibility, but imagine caring for a person in such a manner along with caring for one's home and family. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Mothers & Daughters Essay Mothers and daughters have been written about, criticized, publicized, condemned, and praised for a long time. As more and more material becomes available on mother–daughter relationships, it becomes apparent that being a mother and being a daughter means different things to different people depending on race, economics, social status and blood type. This paper will explore the meaning of being a mother and being a daughter by combining all of these independent variables. A definition of motherhood and daughterhood will be clearer, however, as experience will tell us, not everyone can be categorized, or even explained. In "Choosing Consciousness", Elizabeth Minnich describes mothers as: ".The people who take day–by–day...show more content... It is not until the end of the story that Annie realizes that her mother was only acting on what her conception of motherhood embraced; once a daughter reached a certain age, she was to start her own life, evolving into her own identity. Susan Walters also discusses the concept of mothers enabling theirdaughters to grow into women, while sending them off to experience independence and break ties with their family. Her article emphasizes societies need for daughters to emerge from their mothers' care and create their own lives, instead of keeping close ties with each other. In this case a mother is only a notch on the totem pole of their daughter's life. The existence as a daughter has been explored in depth as well. Is a daughter just an extension of her mother or is she an individual paired with someone to facilitate her emergence into the real world? Is she a friend or is she a student? This central idea is explored in the Walters article as well. A story included in the article suggested that a daughter not be afraid to become affiliated with her mother. She said that "the sacrament of 'separation'" from her mother was based on society's perpetualization that a daughter must become independent from her mother and that a fondness for her mother was simply a clinging that wasn't natural or healthy. However, a kinship with a mother is the most natural occurrence Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. Narrative Essay : My Mom For this narrative, I interviewed my mom, Amanda Lopez. At first, she seems mean. That's very blunt but it's true. My mom is a very guarded and self–reserved person. She does have manners and she is nice but, she won't open up immediately to a new person. She is also very hard working and independent. She wasn't born with these qualities, she went through a lot of different struggles, but that's how she ended up where she is today. My mom didn't have a very good high school experience. Her mom always moved, which caused her to move. Which caused her to have few friends. She never participated in sports or arts. She mostly focused on her home life and school. Her mom never really supported her. When asked about the future, she state "I never thought about the future, it was more of a day by day, moment by moment kind of thing. How am I going to pay for this and when will I get my homework done?" My mom had to buy her own clothes, pay the rent at her mom's house, and juggle school work. So, as you can imagine, she had a lot on her plate. Although, she did have support from her aunt and uncle. But, she still had to do a lot of things on her own. "Aunt Terri and I would go to her parent's house and hang out on the farm. We would do every day normal stuff like baking and knitting." Essentially, Aunt Terri was the mom she never had, she taught her basic skills and gave her tips on different things. "They were the ones that came to my volleyball games and made cupcakes for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
