1. Essay On Career Fair
As an international student who wants to work in the United States, it is important to attend to
serval career fairs that fit my major. If I want to stay in America after studying in university, I
would need to find a job that can offer a chance to get a working H1 visa as a foreigner. To look for
the employment opportunities, I will need to attend to career fairs in school. Therefore, I went to the
business and engineering career fair at Seattle University. There were many big branch companies,
such as Key Bank, Alaska Airline, Nordstrom, and Paccar, and they offered internship programs for
students in different quarters. So, I interviewed a recruiter from Edward Jones and listened to three
students who were seeking internships in the career...show more content...
When students were talking to the recruiters, they used body languages. The body language they
used eye contacts, and hand motions when they are trying to illustrate what they say. Students were
seeking the information on whether do they satisfy the job requirements or what are the goals of the
companies. Recruiters and students engaged in small talk, and I think the purpose of the small talk
was to gain the information about the corporation. The small talks usually ended within six minutes.
Students who were seeking job opportunities were using "what" and "could" when they started
questioning. There are similarities from the YouTube video that I watched in class compare with the
job fair. The students were like the girl in the video who prepare for the interview. They dress
formally and know what questions they needed to ask the recruiters. There are many internship
opportunities for many students, but there are also some restrictions for international students.
Furthermore, the job positions only offer to applicants who are eligible to work in America.
However, some internships were not open to foreign students even if they can work in the United

2. My Career Journey
Throughout my own personal career journey, I have met and worked with many wonderful people.
Many challenges that I have overcome because of the help they gave me. There was a lot that I
learned about youth development, working alongside these individuals. There was one person that
from the moment we met, we knew that we were going to be an effective team and accomplish
many things that would help the students we provided services for. As her assistant I learned to be
assertive in a leadership role, to make decisions that would help the program succeed, and to create
partnerships with other organizations that provide resources, not just for the students, also their
families.
The person that I chose to interview, her name is 'Michelle.' She was not just my supervisor, she
became my mentor and the person I can count on for any advice I needed regarding the field of
youth development.
How I met my interviewee, Michelle (pseudonym) I went through a rough experience in my life
that affected me emotionally. At the time I was unemployed; I was looking for a new opportunity
that was within the field of working with children. My mother found out through a friend that she
was looking for new staff and advised me to contact her. I met with her, discussed my background,
and from there a new journey began. 'Michelle' is a Hispanic female of Dominican descent. She is
married with four children. She has worked in the field of youth development for more than 10
years. She is passionate

3. Essay on Careers in Healthcare
Healthcare has many different areas one can go into if interested in this field. I have chosen two that
have always been an interest to me; Nursing (particularly registered nursing) and an EMT
(Emergency Medical Technician). Both jobs are very demanding and extremely important. Both are
respected jobs and require a tremendous amount of caring for others.
There are three levels of nursing; certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
or a Registered Nurse (RN). A registered nurse is the highest level of nursing. In order to practice
nursing you must have an Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor Degree in Nursing, or in some
cases a diploma in nursing from an accredited school. Nursing can provide many opportunities

They have to be comfortable with people in the most intimate circumstance because of the nature of
dealing with different health situations. A registered nurse works with clients, their families and
communities in various settings. They can work in nursing homes, assisted living, and adult foster
care homes. Compensation for a registered nurse is pretty good. The median annual earnings in
Oregon in 2008 were $62,450, with the lowest wage being $43,410 and the highest being $76, 570.
The physical demands require that a person be physically capable of standing for long periods of
time. Nurses often assist in lifting and moving patients and can work up to 12 hour days. They must
also have technical abilities because of some of the computerized equipment. According to the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the primary hazard in patient care is blood borne
pathogens, such as hepatitis B and HIV. Nurses are exposed to a variety of infectious diseases so
they must be very careful and follow the safety guidelines. A typical day includes accessing patient
needs, creating treatment plans and evaluating their progress. They must also educate the patient and
the families involved.
The good things about having a Nursing degree is that you can choose a specialized area after you
graduate. Pediatric nursing is one area that a registered nurse might want to specialize in. A
pediatric nurse is one who cares for younger people from infant age up to the teen

are at a different stage in their career and life than people that is at age 25 or 45. A careerchange

there is an opportunity to pursue new personal or professional goals. This stage is called as middle
career years or mid–career change. According to OUM textbook, mid–career means re–appraise
early career and early adulthood, reaffirm or modify goals, make choices appropriate to middle adult
years and remain productive. Mid–career is a time in which one is more likely to consider leaving a
current job in order to take work in an organization that might indicate promise of greater career
fulfillment or address a need for increased salary or benefits, intrinsic and extrinsic (WordWeb).
After 40, many people begin to look at life differently which they often begin to feel that life really
is too short to be stuck in a dead–end or unsatisfying job. In this middle age situation, it is a time in
which adults take on new responsibilities at the workplace and therefore, people of this age often

will be accepted and train in the new Marina store at the end of the year. In the book What Color
is your Parachute, I learned that I could go into a kind of rejection shock, if a promotion in not in
the cards.[2] As he puts it, I would have to keep going and stay motivated, because I want full
exposure of the knowledge and operations at the Dollar Tree. I am achieving most of this by
interning this semester. Tammi Huntsman is the manager there and I am shadowing her as she
performs skills of managing. I have ordered inventory, payroll, reset the store a few times, and
cashed out cashiers with her help. All skills I have acquired will help me down the line in
managerial positions.
